Meanwhile you have a choice as does every other American. Do something different for a change. Please.

How self fulfilling prophecy works. Such as "He/She can't win..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_proof

Social proof, also known as informational social influence, is a psychological phenomenon where people assume the actions of others in an attempt to reflect correct behavior for a given situation. This effect is prominent in ambiguous social situations where people are unable to determine the appropriate mode of behavior, and is driven by the assumption that surrounding people possess more knowledge about the situation.

The effects of social influence can be seen in the tendency of large groups to conform to choices which may be either correct or mistaken, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as herd behavior. Although social proof reflects a rational motive to take into account the information possessed by others, formal analysis shows that it can cause people to converge too quickly upon a single choice, so that decisions of even large groups of individuals may be grounded in very little information (see information cascades).

Social proof is a type of conformity. When a person is in a situation where they are unsure of the correct way to behave, they will often look to others for cues concerning the correct behavior. When "we conform because we believe that others' interpretation of an ambiguous situation is more accurate than ours and will help us choose an appropriate course of action,"[1] it is informational social influence. This is contrasted with normative social influence wherein a person conforms to be liked or accepted by others.

Social proof often leads not only to public compliance (conforming to the behavior of others publicly without necessarily believing it is correct) but also private acceptance (conforming out of a genuine belief that others are correct).[2] Social proof is more powerful when being accurate is more important and when others are perceived as especially knowledgeable.

in 1970 I was turning over school buses parked at the White House ...being maced ...because 50,000 of my brothers and sisters had been killed in Vietnam ...please don't lecture me...been there ..done that...I haven't been sitting on my hands for the last 40 years

2 of my family members are suffering from Agent Orange ...I don't need your advice

it took 45 years for them to get any help at all

one of them was living on 300.00 a month for years until just recently when a lawyer finally got him the 3000.00 dollars a month that he deserved

a friend of mine came back from Vietnam with no legs and killed himself

I've lived stuff....I know stuff

My union business agent had the foresight to schedule a meeting I'm required to attend. Otherwise, I'd probably be getting high right along with you, laughing through tears at the terrible choice Idiot America has given the rest of us.

SLAD, I wouldn't presume to lecture. You guys have roused me from slumber more than once, just returning the favour. You've mentioned your achievements before and I noticed. Thanks to you and others things are less awful than they would be. We've all done stuff. We've all loved and lost. We always will, it's life. In fact all you're doing is making a good argument that we have no alternative but to keep on fighting, learning, speaking to whoever we can, changing hearts and minds, valuing real things when we find them.

I'm not with you with in all this fatalism, I know it's fatigue. Things are changing but tipping points come and they go. Right now it is possible to change things. I know fatigue. I know despair. Like everything else, they pass. Meanwhile life, and death rumble on.

I don't consider my view as fatalism.... sorry you got that impression ...it's far from fatalism ....and I've said this before...there is no political solution to our troubled evolution ....there is no fatalism there ..there is just another way to live life and be able to watch the show

I don't believe politics even exists today, let alone that it can be the change we need. I don't really follow it except to the degree that I'm watching the people. I also like to sit and watch an entire flock of birds change direction in less than a moment. It's quite a spectacle.

Harvey, You need to discuss this with Dr Evil.

He once provided a perfectly, apparently logical "scientific" explanation for such natural phenomena, which in turn will scientifically explain the miracle of our existence.

It all an accident.

An icon like Larry King is on RT? Wow, I had no idea! The other two guys make sense.

I'll be streaming the debate on my laptop and snacking on Check Mix. I won't lie - I'd rather live under a Clinton presidency than a Trump, so I want her to do well, even if I don't plan to actually vote for her. A few weeks back I was saying how Clinton should win by default simply due to demographics, but when the whole election comes down to a few swing states with a bunch of alt-right voters, it could be as neck to neck as the media polls say it is.

I'm honestly trying to live my life in a way where elected officials have a minimal impact on my life. My greatest concerns have always been international.
