No one of special significance that I am aware of. Just a different woman, sister to Jeff Greenberg. If you type Jennifer Greenberg into google she is the second entry in images.

I wouldn't say "no special significance" to bringing up the "Greenberg" family name and pics of them into this discussion. Not sure how I feel about this whole meme, and frankly the bulk of it sounds and looks like utter BS, but some bits seem creepy enough to maybe be true. Can't say I've kept up with the "research" but there are plenty of (questionable) youtube vids, and based on his site, Ed is one prolific "researcher" and consumer of media!

I think I'm turning face blind. but ya know, I've sometimes felt there's only about 10,000 body types accounting for 80% of the population, sure diet, accidents, etc create some additional variability, but in general: people look like other people, A LOT more than we generally realize.

So far I've got:

(Probably) Eric Harris
(Probably) James Holmes
Kip Kinkel

Someone asked what has changed in the last 30 years so that FBI stats show homicide down but mass murder up.

I would have said it was too. But evidently that's just how the media makes us feel.

The takeover of America by PharmaGod. The sheer numbers of overmedicated people with dangerous psychotropic drugs is unbelievable.

They're hugely overprescribed.

ON EDIT:

Oops. There's a school shootings list here. Just found it.

They're mostly not mass shootings, though, looks like.

Great resource C2W. I dont wish to derail this thread, but the meds thing is clearly important - all these lobbyists wishing calling for the civilian population to disarm is well and good- But perhaps such groups need to be made aware of the causes. IOW. There needs to be some recognition of the need for the vast majority of people to de-med, if, to use an appropriate metaphor, they really wish to deal with one of the causes, as opposed to offer treatment.

Not that guns themselves aren't a problem. Ive just listened to a truly fantastic episode of Coast ( Oliver Stone and Peter Kuznik , albeit treading very careful in what they said, regarding the recent series about hidden US history.) At the beginning of the show, George Knapp claimed that in Oz, where since semi- automatice weapons have been severely curtailed for sale to the public, there have been zero such incidents as the one discussed here. ( can any of our aussie contingent confirm/refute this?)

This list doesnt appear to have been updated this year, perhaps something for RI to do? Kind of an "add to" for the link.

Then what are all those (seriously well done and awesome) Australian crime films based on? :) I kid. Yeah there hasn't been any mass shootings there since. But then again mass shootings are an anomaly in developed nations.
There was one in Finland I recall, and of course Norway. I had this image of Australia being this chill, laid back place...and then in the last few years there's been a huge
flurry of really jarring Australian crime movies, some based on real events that made me go "whoah". Check out Snowtown or Animal Kingdom. My friend there says they have a "South" like in America, full of
low life backwoods drug dealing psychopaths

On 28 April 1996 28-year old Martin Bryant went on a killing spree in which 35 people were killed and 23 wounded at a popular tourist site in Tasmania, in the south of Australia.

The government immediately responded, passing the following legislation :

* ban semi auto weapons in almost all cases (including for farmers)
* ban pump action shotguns and military style weapons of all kinds
* ban handguns (excluding some very limited 'sporting' use which is very tightly controlled)
* tighten controls on high calibre firearms (basically farmers or people who have written permission to hunt on farmers' properties)
* require ALL firearms to be stored in a locked firearms safe AT ALL TIMES that they aren't in use.

If a single politician even hints at wanting any restrictions on assault rifles, the Alex Jone's of the country go into apeshit mode.

To a degree, yes. You would know who he is.
Rachel Scott’s younger brother Craig, a 16-year old Columbine High School sophomore at the time of the shootings, was physically unharmed but witnessed several classmates being killed in the school library as he huddled under a table with two friends, Isaiah Shoels and Matthew Kechter, both of whom were slain. The next day, he was interviewed at length by Katie Couric on the Today show. The tearful interview, which NBC did not interrupt with normally scheduled station breaks, was described a year later by USA Today as "one of the most indelible moments of the tragedy".[9] Craig wrote of his sister Rachel, "...her love for people was less conditional than anyone I knew... It didn't matter to her what you looked like or who your friends were. Another thing I liked and respected so much was that she made it clear... what her beliefs were".[10]

Craig continues to make frequent speaking appearances on behalf of Rachel's Challenge, urging teens to strive for a classroom "atmosphere of kindness and compassion" to stem school violence.[11] He is also periodically interviewed on various television programs, such as 20/20, Dateline NBC, and the Today show, to discuss the loss of his sister and his difficult recovery from the traumatic ordeal he experienced as an eyewitness to the murderous rampage.[12]

I think he goes an evangelical Christian stance on shit, but I could tell he is shaken, once again.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

Kevin Rider, age 14, was withdrawing from Prozac when he died from a gunshot wound to his head.

Initially it was ruled a suicide, but two years later, the investigation into his death was opened as a possible homicide. The prime suspect, also age 14, had been taking Zoloft and other SSRI antidepressants.

Alex Kim, age 13, hung himself shortly after his Lexapro prescription had been doubled.

Diane Routhier was prescribed Welbutrin for gallstone problems. Six days later, after suffering many adverse effects of the drug, she shot herself.

Billy Willkomm, an accomplished wrestler and a University of Florida student, was prescribed Prozac at the age of 17. His family found him dead of suicide – hanging from a tall ladder at the family’s Gulf Shore Boulevard home in July 2002.

Kara Jaye Anne Fuller-Otter, age 12, was on Paxil when she hung herself from a hook in her closet.

I certainly don't want to revive it, but look back at the first few pages... Noting the "synchronicity" that this was Joe Lieberman's district, and that it had something to do with an Israeli politician also named Lieberman. I'm just glad we dropped it, although I wish someone besides me had called it out... That is all.

Mother of Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza 'was a gun obsessive living in fear of society's collapse'

The mother of Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza who slaughtered 20 US schoolchildren and seven adults was a gun-hoarding survivalist who was stockpiling weapons in preparation for an economic collapse, it has emerged.

Nancy Lanza was shot four times in the head before her son Adam gunned down young pupils and teachers at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

Her sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told reporters at her Illinois home that her gun-obsessed relative was part of the ‘prepper’ movement that fears an economic collapse will lead to a breakdown in society.

“She prepared for the worst,” Ms Lanza said.

“Last time we visited her in person, we talked about prepping — are you ready for what could happen down the line, when the economy collapses?”

Nancy Lanza (52) had five registered firearms, had begun stockpiling food and taught Adam how to shoot. He is believed to have taken three of her guns — a Bushmaster .223-calibre, and two handguns, a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9mm — in the school massacre after he shot her dead in bed.

I saw it. Um. Blue?

I don't want to fight with you bitterly over this or anything like that. But surely you can see that the fact that it's possible to index some dozens of murders by people taking SSRIs doesn't actually mean that "all," "almost all," or "99 percent" of mass shootings by (for the most part) entirely different people were caused by meds, can't you?

I mean: Jared Loughner? Nope. Seung Hui Cho? Nope. Dylan Klebold? Nope. The Jonesboro shooters? No. The DC snipers? No. The Sikh Temple shooter? No. (Etc.) Not to put too fine a point on it, but as far as I can see, virtually all of them had longstanding social-personal trouble of some kind that usually would or could be called "mental illness."

But the (pretty substantial) majority of them actually weren't taking meds. In any form. Most of them weren't even in treatment.

Anyway. I'm not done with the laborious checking yet. But you can add Steven Phillip Kazmierczak (Northern Illinois campus shooter) to the list, if you're only interested in having meds-positive shooters. He was taking Prozac. And it sounds like he shouldn't have been, too. For non-shooting-related reasons, I mean. But that's a different story.
