I agree and I think a few of the flights are the best counter points to the FE. However the point remains moot as there are as many plane related counterexamples for the FE. Such as.Searcher08 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 2:36 pm wrote:

There is a really simple counterexample to the Flat Earth theory.
There are lots of people who fly between Jo'burg and Perth, Australia. I know people who have.

What force gives us weight? And what force is making the atmosphere push us down? The atmosphere has much lower density than us, right? A pound of air weighs much less than a pound of flesh.

I have seen nothing but intelligent responses to you in this thread.
Tell me did you believe in a flat Earth before, during or after the advent of Internet sites like youtube? Furthermore, what got you into it? Give us your approximate age if you want to as well. People here have been being quite nice to you if you haven't noticed. Most of us here could drop the hammer into no no land if we wanted to. Be gentle with 99.999999999999% of us here.

You're complaining about attacks and then you label all your opponents as having no rigorous integrity on the issue, and at the same time you dismiss things that don't fit your theory as a hoax (Antarctic midnight sun)?maco144 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:37 pm wrote:Yeah a lot of attacks against me by people sitting on the sidelines not even choosing to participate intelligently. The reason you're being attacked is that the idea of a flat Earth is ridiculous and people are baffled that anyone can actually take it seriously, and your arguments aren't helping.
And you still haven't explained why we fall down (see my previous post). Preferably in your own words (or text, at least) and not another time-wasting Youtube video. Reading is so much faster, and I won't have to listen to that annoying git in the videos.
Edit: You replied while I was typing:
No, it really doesn't. Density only says something about how densely packed matter is, it says nothing about how that matter falls down to Earth. Density is a property, not a force. You might as well say that length makes things fall down. An incredibly dense object (like a black hole for instance) still weighs nothing (not really, but close enough for this argument) when it's floating around space. According to you it should be falling down towards something simply for being dense.Density fully explains your conundrum, it's up to you to try and learn to understand it.
What I want to know is: What is the force that makes dense objects fall down (and why isn't the Sun falling down), as opposed to up or sideways? Something must be acting on that density to make it fall down, right (and again - weight and density are not the same thing)?

I went to the extended video by rollingthunder42 and there are non-stop flights from both Jo'burg to Perth and Sydney to Santiago.maco144 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 6:41 pm wrote:I agree and I think a few of the flights are the best counter points to the FE. There are lots of people who fly between Jo'burg and Perth, Australia. I know people who have.
However he did not offer any explanation about them from within the FLM. He merely pointed out that there are lots of connecting flights via the US and seemed puzzled by this. He was also surprised at a stop over from Jo'burg to Mauritius - this is a huge holiday destination, so not sure what is strange about it...
I looked at other videos he did and they come down to asserting (without providing any evidence) that 'flights are faked'.
This is a from an extended 'over the pole' flight Qantas did
I am unclear what would convince you that these flights are real. You can look at current flights to Perth from Jo'burg at saa.com

No, density is a property of matter, the mass per unit volume. It is not a force, neither is it the property which would be acted upon by a force.maco144 » 06 Sep 2016 18:55 wrote:Density fully explains your conundrum, it's up to you to try and learn to understand it.DrEvil » Tue Sep 06, 2016 11:11 am wrote:

You have an apple in your hand and you let it go. What is it that makes it fall to earth, rather than floating in place ?

There is no force that pulls down. This is extremely simple to understand. Even if you believe that gravity exists you must also recognize the downward pressure coming from the atmosphere stacked above. If you cannot acknowledge that no amount of words/images/videos will help.

Intelligent responses are coming from people who are discussing the flat earth with me. I stated it is those on the sidelines who are offering nothing of value eg Nordic.82_28 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 3:04 pm wrote:I have seen nothing but intelligent responses to you in this thread.

Gravity wouldn't, that would remain the centre of mass, it's the geometry (more accurately the topography) which reverses direction.MacCruiskeen » Tue Sep 06, 2016 2:33 pm wrote:The gravitational pull would reverse instantly! I strongly suspect this whole non-issue has been designed as a distraction from the 15th anniversary of something real (and as a way of tainting that real issue by association, on any board that hosts discussions of both). So I would like to see this non-issue disappear off the front page as soon as possible. But I'll ask you one question, maco144:
Are there any OTHER flat heavenly bodies out there?
If so, which ones, exactly?
If not, why not? Why is the earth unique in being flat?

Ah, right, yes, it would be.
