ok I read it and some one is full of shit, are you kidding me she left because of that? There was no misunderstanding there...... I don't like being called a baby killer and that's all there is to that, call me a baby killer and I'll do the same to you. If that was the reason she gave for leaving she was either lying or just didn't like me calling her out on her beliefs about women and reproduction. I almost left here because of her. I was not going to stay somewhere where I or anyone else that has an abortion is called a baby killer

She was supporting abortion. You misread her.

Fact: Abortion kills a human being.

I didn't misread that....pretty simple.

she didn't call you a baby-killer. She was stating that she supports abortion but wishes that our culture didn't need abortions. I agree with that. I also believe that abortion is killing a human. What else could it possibly be? That *is* what it is. I have had an abortion, btw. There I go again, bringing personal shit in so that everyone can tell me I'm fighting dirty.

But this isn't supposed to be a fight. It's a discussion. I believe that we can work it out.

supporting abortion by telling women they are killing a human being?? Give me a fuckin' break

Guess what just because you and your friend believe a fetus is a human being that's your opinion. Making women feel guilty by telling them they are killing a baby is not my idea of being supportive.

and if she left because of one irate post I say toughen up, where did she think she was, in the Catholic Church?

you said you almost left because of it. you decided not to, but she decided she wasn't cut out for it. Besides, there was more than one irate post from you. You came into this thread and mentioned being called a murderer, too. I think she had left by then though.

I don't have any trouble with the idea that I decided to end the life inside me (i.e -killed a human being) when I had an abortion. If you do then I say toughen up.

that could have happened at some point, but I'm positive it didn't happen with bre*, if that's part of this question. You'd have to be more specific, really, for me to give a proper answer.

I was just asking whether you....Oh, let's just skip it. It wasn't important. And you've already effectively answered it.

compared2what? wrote:(c) Why would I have told brekin that what he said and did to you was bad behavior that had to stop if I wasn't standing up for your right to stand up for yourself?

You wouldn't have. I was so .. fortified maybe is the word.. reading your exchange with bre*. Thank you for that.

You are more than welcome.

I am starting to believe that there really are people who don't want to get it, though. Here I was operating on the belief that the vast majority of people, if shown the light, will go towards it. Turns out that they keep their blinders on willfully and.. even angrily. This doesn't surprise me in and of itself, but what does surprise me is the sheer numbers of that type of person.. especially here. I'm not in any way saying you're one of those people btw, it's just an observation that sprung from the whole bre* thing.

People are people everywhere, being miraculously beauteous beings and thuddingly self-centered assholes both. Because most people are both. That's people. We don't make a whole lot of sense.

Except here, where they're usernames. Which does make the headcount a little challenging sometimes, you do have to admit.

Wow. Thank you!

Abortion is worth a more serious discussion than you're giving it. Start a thread, maybe?

excuse me but isn't one of the purposes of this thread "words" and what they mean?

so some one can not say a fetus is a human life and then say they support women who have abortions without that meaning they should be in jail for murder

yeah, I didn't want this at all. But the abortion issue kinda goes to the OP, so...

I believe that women should have absolute sovereignty over their bodies. ABSOLUTE. And if there happens to be a little parasitic creature growing in their bodies they should be allowed to decide whether or not to remove it. Even if that parasitic creature is one that grows into another human being.

No, SLAD, I shouldn't be in jail. Killing isn't the same as murder. Murder is legally defined, and abortion isn't murder. Not in Canada, anyway. Although they do take you into a dungeon and lecture you before and after the procedure - I nearly went in to cardiac arrest on the table, and no one prepared me for the pain. I don't know if your experience was similar. So, there is a punishment to it in the end.

I would fight tooth and nail to preserve the rights of women to control of their biology. I'm on your side.

Okay. The other stuff besides abortion (Maddy, who's ruining Christmas and the RI forum, etcetera) doesn't really make sense to me. But since it's very highly emotionally charged right now, I'm pretty sure that you'll both be happier with your representation of yourselves if you sleep on it before engaging in any further discussion.

I'm not the boss of either of you, obviously. But I am speaking from a place of good will.

So. Carry on, if you wish. I don't think it's a good idea. But it's not my world, and I'm not queen of it.

Yeah, fark that idea. Even if I am right. :)

Who do you reckon you'd be spiting? I think the answer is the
board itself, the spirit of the thing, the thing that makes it R.I.

This soap opera is not R.I.

I might be wrong but it's my impression that less and less people
are posting here. I wonder why that is.

If you believe a fetus is a human being and an abortion kills that human being then you are a killer of a human being....... fine you own that but don't put that on all women because they don't need the guilt trip that goes with it....you live with your guilt. I have a clear conscience and there's no need to heap that quilt trip on anyone other that yourself

and I do believe there is a legitimate debate on when a fetus becomes a human being, correct?

They can, quite clearly. The question is why they would choose to do so. As I vaguely understand it, C_w's point is basically philosophical, not political or legal, and has to do with the supremacy of her authority over her own body.
