This entire incident really takes the cake for me too.

It's good to finally hear from the lawyers for the family. They mentioned the ransacking of the apartment basically in passing which I find surprising. Was expecting them to come out guns blazing on that one. So strange.

It's becoming a slippery slope from shooting to guilty/execution in the US these days that's for sure.

Attorney for shooters' family: A lot of things don't add up
http://edition.cnn.com/videos/us/2015/1 ... -shooting/

Syed Farook's family attorney just claimed that ... "where the couple was found, from what I understand, is that, they were handcuffed, lying face down in this truck"

... presumably this was AFTER they were shot and then handcuffed for good measure? :starz:

This is f*cked (can we swear on here?)

So after watching that I'm thinking these lawyers are going to point out the obvious inconsistencies? But, because they represent the brown people those views are null?

I just don't know anymore honestly.

As far as I know, yes, except that we are encouraged not to do so in thread titles. And that rule came about because a few years back we had a whole series of "Fuck X" threads. (They were good threads with lots of info, but I guess the titles were off-putting to some.)

FBI Investigates Southern California Attack as Act of Terror
By AMANDA LEE MYERS AND TAMI ABDOLLAH, ASSOCIATED PRESS SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Dec 4, 2015, 11:52 PM ET
...
The U.S. official who revealed the Facebook post was not authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The Facebook official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed under corporate policy to be quoted by name, said the company discovered Wednesday's post on Thursday, removed the profile from public view and reported its contents to law enforcement.

Bowdich said he was not aware of the Islamic State-affiliated Aamaq news service report but was not surprised the Islamic State would attempt to link itself to the attack. He said investigators were looking carefully to determine if there is an Islamic State connection.

Yeah, you can swear. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. Just don't say "fuck you" to others. I've calmed down myself since I quit bartending with the use of "fuck". . .

One of the things the lawyer and family says "doesn't add up" is that the couple didn't have any military training.

So, it's a little weird, maybe, that the brother — a Navy surface warfare specialist — was initially identified. Why the mix-up? It's not like the brother worked at Inland Dev Center. Did the authorities just assume a military dude?

The lawyer also mentions that the wife supposedly weighed "90 pounds." How does someone with that build get identified as "one of three males" in tactical gear? Wouldn't it be extra evident if a small woman were carrying an AR-15 in the midst of two other men in tactical gear? Seems that the difference in size would stand out.

And what's this crazy business about the bodies being handcuffed? That lawyer seemed a little freaked out, and I think I'd be freaked out too if that's really the truth. Do you know how easy it is for a little civil rights lawyer to get pulled into crazy ass shit? Happens all the time. To me, watching that clip, what stood out was that he was totally transmitting that he feels vulnerable as hell. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not their lawyer for long. He has no chill, and he doesn't see it as a problem that other people see him not being chill talking about this. That's troubling.

He was more chill in the longer free wheeling press conference when he and the other lawyer talked and answered press questions freely

I was at the big mall near me earlier, and something dropped from maintenance crews were doing, and it created a couple of really loud crack sounds. You could kind of see everyone do this quick slight duck/reaction thing, before going back to their smart phones. It reminded me how every year 'experts' say around this time that malls are a rich soft target around the holidays for terrorism, yet a part of me can't help but think it definitely seems more plausible now(tho the last time that happened was in Omaha in 07, tho it was by the usual lone nut kid) A tired conspiracy trope to say, yes, but "they" need something to catalyze the public toward something they need to push.

A few years ago, Pentagon and Obama picks on tv were lamenting how al Qaeda was on its 'last legs' and the need to focus on traditional enemies down the road like "Russia and China". It's interesting it's taken some sort of chimera al Qaeda on steroids new boogeyman(ISIS) to draw all these elements into Syria.

I took a look at the cringe worthy comment section on Donald Trump's facebook post today about how "Wonder If Obama Will Ever Say Radical Islam?", and it's alarming as ever to see such frenzied nutjob gun loving right wingers quick to live up to the cliche of violent nutters. Gun sales are up as usual, reports say the Secret Service is in total chaos and disarray. Bad vibes lately

Lots of pushing of the terror angle of course from the Mail and a photo of the handcuffed dead body of Farook but this very interesting tidbit from the end:
Authorities are also looking to speak with the man who bought two of the semi-automatic weapons used in the shooting.
They say the two .223-caliber assault rifles were purchased by the same man in 2011 and 2012 - each time shortly after Farook bought each of the handguns used in the shootings.
Authorities say it's still unclear whether the gun purchases were coordinated, or how Farook came into possession of the two larger weapons he and his wife used to open fire on his co-workers at an office party.

Been mentioned already but the whole angle of missing an opportunity to really cause mayhem on the part of these terrorists, much like the suicide bobmbers in Paris who decided just to blow themselves up in corner, cannot be looked at enough. Already on a bloodthirsty tear killing people that Farook knew and if not friendly, certainly dealt with on a friendly basis every day, they have hours, and ammo and bombs to drive to any mall in LA and really let loose.

ETA:
Oh just saw this
NBC News has learned that early Saturday the FBI searched the Riverside, California home of Enrique Marquez, the man authorities believe originally bought the assault rifles used in the San Bernardino shooting rampage that killed 14.

An FBI official said that Marquez is not considered a suspect in the shooting.
During the search of Marquez's home, neighbors say, agents cut open the garage door with blow torches, used bomb-sniffing dogs, and temporarily detained his father and younger brother. The man's father told NBC News Saturday afternoon that he does not know where Marquez is and declined further comment.

Federal officials say the two assault weapons were originally bought in 2011 and 2012 by Marquez, said to be a friend of Farook's, but investigators don't yet know whether Farook gave him the money upfront, or obtained the guns from him later.

A neighbor who witnessed the search told NBC News that Marquez and Farook had been close friends since childhood but appeared to have grown more distant in recent months.

Obama to address the nation tomorrow from the oval office about the San Bernadino massacre and ISIS war/homeland terrorism(will he mention right wing terrorism, which is the majority
of terrorism in America?) http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/05/politics/ ... index.html
Only the third time Obama has addressed the nation from the oval office.
