Funny that so many people are inclined to hurry this whole process along. Homes and businesses with American flags out while things are still ramping up, when they should be saved for when reconciliation starts. Not that I give a shit about flags, but it is adorable that people want to rush things along. The tech and entertainment industry trying to make people feel acknowledged by having a bullshit PR stunt off-day is another example. That too feels rushed; poor timing and lackluster effort.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone has a growing bookmark collection of Twitter videos. Many of these clips are not making it to the news. I have not actually watched "the news" at all, unless it was a clip of a journalist being attacked. It is taking me hours every night to dig through and bookmark more and more videos, not to mention also monitoring several different Periscope feeds at once. The situation is changing every single day; astounding footage from four days ago is like ancient history now.

Yup.

(Christ, Mexico's PRI network has grown so wealthy off cocaine and human trafficking that they're currently in a bidding war with China to buy out the DNC.)

Wow.

Society is always on the verge of anarchy, but it's never good to make it so obvious for so long.

This in and of itself is jarring people in one of two ways, they either see the the Emperor's New Clothes and the naked truths, or pull the blanket of denial tighter.

Even once this hits a sufficiently apocalyptic level for Congress to intervene and "Do Something," a la the 1968 Civil Rights Act, it won't be enough to actually solve the problem. How could it be? It's mere legislation. It will be cobbled together from existing proposals from lobbyists and think tanks, professional parasites.

Unfortunately yes... that's probably how the road will go.

All in all, this dynamic tracks with a lot of other ongoing disasters: mass movements making demands of institutions that are no longer capable of exerting power or delivering results. Something else is going to re-assert itself, and that transition will make our current levels of violence seem like better days.

Shame, but it probably will be thus.

Brilliant prose as per usual from you. I love the exchanges between you and the erudite JR too. Even if you guys don't agree it still is very worth reading both of youse guys*

Quite frankly the outlook is treacherous but as you say, then again, when hasn't it been. They’ve succeeded in bending us to their nightmare. And there seems to be consequences for trying to awaken from it. I've said it before and I haven't found evidence to the contrary; we're slaves on their mental plantation.

In less important news, I've switched my poll vote to Harris, though I think its 50/50 we see an interim government before the elections,

Qualified Immunity is doctrine, not legislation, but otherwise, good stuff and a lot of implicit jobs programs cooked in, too

How in fucks name is a culture (globally) who's entire history stands on vengeance, bloodshed, and rule through violent force expected to enact peaceful measures of control? Throw down your arms and come. Rule through fear, violence, and terror MUST END! Universally. Renounce violence and build peace. Abandon your violent gods!

Maybe, but not surprising. I recall a few folk just recently chased away by self appointed social conformity officers. Why bother.

That which we condemn to suffering is our failure, not theirs.

Compassion: a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. The quality of state of being considerate or thoughtful.

Oof, okay, G, I'll get to fixing the rest of the forums later tonight, lest I be declared part of T.H.E.M. Every goddamn one has to be done individually in a multi-step process and I'm lazy. However Grizzly do be kind enough to note that THIS thread and General Discussion and thus the most supposedly controversial postings have been open to the world the entire time.

Intriguing. The best, and only practical, way to currently alleviate suffering and prevent mass death is to social distance and not congregate in large gatherings as there is a viral pandemic taking place.
Yet, in 6 days it has become expected, encouraged, and normalized to mass in large urban areas in close proximity to strangers for hours at a time.
And this is spreading to England, Australia, France, etc.

“When hopes and dreams are loose in the streets, it is well for the timid to lock doors, shutter windows and lie low until the wrath has passed. For there is often a monstrous incongruity between the hopes, however noble and tender, and the action which follows them. It is as if ivied maidens and garlanded youths were to herald the four horsemen of the apocalypse.”
― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

“An effective mass movement cultivates the idea of sin. It depicts the autonomous self not only as barren and helpless but also as vile. To confess and repent is to slough off one’s individual distinctness and separateness, and salvation is found by losing oneself in the holy oneness of the congregation.”
― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

“The vanity of the selfless, even those who practice utmost humility, is boundless.”
― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

“All mass movements generate in their adherents a readiness to die and a proclivity for united action; all of them, irrespective of the doctrine they preach and the program they project, breed fanaticism, enthusiasm, fervent hope, hatred and intolerance; all of them are capable of releasing a powerful flow of activity in certain departments of life; all of them demand blind faith and singlehearted allegiance. All movements, however different in doctrine and aspiration, draw their early adherents from the same types of humanity; they all appeal to the same types of mind. Though there are obvious differences between the fanatical Christian, the fanatical Mohammedan, the fanatical nationalist, the fanatical Communist and the fanatical Nazi, it is yet true that the fanaticism which animates them may be viewed and treated as one. The same is true of the force which drives them on to expansion and world dominion. There is a certain uniformity in all types of dedication, of faith, of pursuit of power, of unity and of self-sacrifice. There are vast differences in the contents of holy causes and doctrines, but a certain uniformity in the factors which make them effective. He who, like Pascal, finds precise reasons for the effectiveness of Christian doctrine has also found the reasons for the effectiveness of Communist, Nazi and nationalist doctrine. However different the holy causes people die for, they perhaps die basically for the same thing.”
― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

Apropos of quite nothing but I tried to keep it open as my brief stint as a mod and let everyone out of jail but got into trouble. Not really trouble but everyone for the most part was fine by me.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the prophets. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through the narrow gate. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it. Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushed, or figs from thistles? - Mathew

It is a guillotine. Us vs. Them. I am good that would see others treated poorly and proclaim it well deserved. The words of a disciple, or the word of God?

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels ... upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all! - Mario Savio

Township rebellion. Careful whom and what you serve. Which God's world is this that would serve us up so many "wolves in sheep's clothing"?! The magician confuses to perform 'miracles'. Just another day in the terrorist's God universe. Dazzle us with heaven, or damn us into hell. There is no heaven until there is no hell. Don't fight evil with evil.

In spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace. We adopt the means of nonviolence because our end is a community at peace with itself. We will try to persuade with our words, but if our words fail, we will try to persuade with our acts. - MLK Jr.

Great orators gather great audiences. Act up. Actions define the world. Print is dead on the page. The divine path is grace. Kindness is the thread that weaves us all together.

How many would you have beaten to take a picture with a cruel King's novel?

“With patient and firm determination we will press on until every valley of despair is exalted to new peaks of hope, until every mountain of pride and irrationality is made low by the levelling process of humility and compassion; until the rough places of injustice are transformed into a smooth plane of equality of opportunity; and until the crooked places of prejudice are transformed by the straightening process of bright-eyed wisdom. We must concentrate not merely on the negative expulsion of war, but on the positive affirmation of peace. The time has come for an all-out world war against poverty. The rich nations must use their vast resources of wealth to develop the underdeveloped, school the unschooled, and feed the unfed. Ultimately a great nation is a compassionate nation. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant. In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." - MLK Jr

Make America Compassionate Antecedently.

I should have worded that better, kinder, more considerate. I get that most of you guys are on your own and doing the mod job for free. Thankless most times. Please forgive. I certainly do respect you and Elvis... though I guess it hasn't felt that way. Stress is a mind fuck... And whose not stressed in these times. I'm lazy, too, obviously.
