don't get hung up on it Sim. C'est une blague.

That is a key issue - it is getting to the point where the fight back might be best accomplished without a leader or more accurately with massively distributed leadership - i.e. a revolution of oneself. You need to make the leap yourself. Maybe what needs to happen is ALL the traditional activist conversation - who sides with who, boring meetings, building alliances, more boring meetings, publicmassdebation needs to be dropped.

Interesting. But I have to point out that while there's absolutely nothing wrong with stoicism, or the consolation of philosophy, or cultivating your garden, which may in fact be excellent advice for surviving under tyranny, those are methods of accommodation, not fighting back. To do that you need a leader, and an organization, and a system of communication that isn't CIA-TwitBook.

As for the wildebeest, one of them had to go first, right? And the others all followed. And for all we know there's a network of wildebeest deputies supervising that photogenic crossing. So as appealing as the myth of distributed leadership might be, it's on a par with power too cheap to meter and spreading democracy, i.e., strictly for the silver screen.

what the rest are like

Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that all was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, and make it possible. -- Lawrence of Arabia
