well, if Obama looses this I'm done. Completely fucking done. Already blew 8 fucking years fighting bush tooth and nail, if mitt waltzes in due to lack of turnout, I absolutely quit, I will not waste one second opposing him.

These "disappointed leftists" need to wake the fuck up, he's done as much as was possible, and is the best choice we got, not going to WASTE MY TIME working for the election of a candidate with NO CHANCE to win. For fucks sake. What a waste that would be. It's not going to change even ONE mind, certainly not going to move even 1% of the population.

A little realism would be nice about now. Take what you can get.

and don't dare lecture me about how fucking moral you are and what a baby killer I am.

That is a great read, Jack, will pass it on. I'm in a blue state, but if I wasn't, your arguments and others like them would persuade me to vote for prez. Thanks.

We shall see. :wink

Seriously though, yes it is a strongly Dem state. Yours is likely Dem, do you think that could change?

absolutely possible, if as many people sit on their hands as it looks like might. Oregon is only strong Dem in Portland and Eugene. Plus there's a influx of new people before every national election it seems.

Look, KEEPING Mitt out of the presidency is THE MOST URGENT AND ACHIEVABLE political goal we have. It's possible and do-able. and utterly urgent.

Every Occupier should be voting for Obama gladly.

People fucking act like their being asked to marry Obama, or nominate him for their spiritual master or some such shit. It's not such a big fucking deal. Vote for him. It's the ONLY WAY to prevent total plutocracy and move forward.

I'm not even going to discuss the disappointments of Obama, they're irrelevant.

kelley wrote:elections in this bipartisan duopoly represent the interests of a propertied class. this much should be apparent. the only hope left for the vast citizenry of the US will arise when these guaranteed rights, perhaps improperly understood as 'the pursuit of happiness' but nonetheless embodied as very real things, are threatened by the state as a matter of course. romney's role, should he be installed by the state, will be to pursue such a program in a manner similar to the actions performed while at bain capital. the cultural issues with which the right has been preoccupied since the mid-70s will serve as a screen for this final stripping of assets, performed in the nominal defense of liberty, all the while subjugating the interests of the last bulwark against such a consolidation of power. in a perverse sort of way, the american bourgeoisie, or what's left of its middle class, will have to assume the revolutionary mantle once ascribed to the lower classes if they wish to protect their position of privilege.

i look forward to a romney administration. it's the only way in which the fight can be taken to its logical end, without aspersions of blame cast elsewhere.

Gotta agree, because people simply don't act or even react until they are personally threatened. That's where Ellsberg's hope of "organizing, building movements and agitating" especially if Obama becomes installed again, is so delusional. This isn't the late 60s, early 70s. The ratchet effect has shifted the center way right, and most people simply aren't aware of it.

Yeah, like Norman Pollack suggested only partly tongue-in-cheek, perhaps a Romney "win" will actually galvanize progressives (and everyone else affected by the presumed draconian legislation he'll initiate) to fight the good fight again.

yes, a romney presidency will finally mobilize the people. Just like bush did.

what utter bullshit.

You DO NOT KNOW exactly what mittler will be up to. You DO NOT know how to predict the movements of the masses.

Powerless ineffectual delusional narcissism.

People all over the world who need you to vote for Obama are hoping you will.

It's FAR MORE LIKELY that once mittler is in, American businesses will open up the jobs faucet, the "economy" will come roaring back, and Republican values will be PERMANENTLY show to be the one true way. No one is going to be mobilized, they're going to be too busy in their new jobs.

Here's a little "realism" for you:

This is the evil that's already happened. Evil is evil.

You think you can vote your way out of this shit?

Right .....

I'm sure the kid would be glad to know his pain is being used to score points.

You don't know anything about it. All it is is a picture. You don't know the story behind it.

Do you seriously think there'll be LESS OF THAT if YOU LET romney win? Of course not. There will be more. much more. and you know, there are other people in the world who commit violence besides Obama. What will you do about THEM?

right, because people did not organize against the policies of johnson, nor against those of nixon.

the situation now is different, and no one knows what a romney administration would bring. it isn't difficult to guess. justdrew, your anger suggests as much. again, i hate to say it, but only until the lives of ordinary, propertied, 'middle-class' americans are directly threatened by one they mistakenly perceive as their own will change begin to come. the consolidation of wealth in the hands of a decadent plutocracy represents greed, and not power. there's a tremendous difference.

Same pattern as 1929-1939. And that's the plan I think.

I realize that this is a highly emotional topic. Let's try to keep the personal attacks and foul language to a minimum. Thanks.

so your plan is to hope for overreach leading to collapse? and they'll let that happen because they're so stupid right?
