i never said jeff was responsible for the change, i said i'd noticed it at around the same time,

and to argue that by being involved with a brilliant productive insightful forum, where members contributed tonnes of information and insights, jeff did not benefit in some way is just ridiculous

In deference to Jeff, and away from the perception of his supposed absence, I point out that he has four posts on the front page of the board. A couple of those are new. I had read this board for years prior to beginning to post. I ran afoul of et right from the start. It was not a pretty site (sight). I tried to give him deference as it was apparent that he was a friend of Jeff's and that he helped set up some of the board apps. This happened after I noticed some post by et wherein he insulted a poster in a rather sophomoric and mean-spirited manner.

At any rate, later, he responded to a post I started on some meaningless high weirdness that he didn't like and he was very conciliatory. I could see all along that he had some interisting notions and wits about him. I have had friends and acquaintances like that in real life, so this was nothing too shocking or new to me. It was, however an interesting start to my posting career here. I was drawn to all this by Jeff's blog. I respect and admire all the info/money trail work and follow a fair amount of it. Same with hard science/fact realities (that's more on the board than the blog). His takes on the nature and characteristics of perception and reality are what really kept me reading so voraciously. but, i am a self confessed(obsessed?) mystic crank with a soft heart, and that don't get traction everywhere.

You know what I miss?

An informed, mostly intelligent analysis of the relationship between high weirdness and politcal and cultural power.

I spose its still here but its definitely less rigourous.

I do miss Jeff posting, cos he is funny, and compasionate and sharp, but ... its his life give him a break to do what he has or wants to do. As far as I'm concerned he has a fair damn bit of integrity. Imagine what this place would be like if someone else ran it, like say ... alex jones, or david icke or someone else with a desire to self promote and create dogma.

Also, put your self in his shoes. All the crap thats happened at this board and his blog happened, cos of his board and blog. He's been payed out(means verbally abused if you didn't know) by nearly everyone, not many have apologised, he never gets nasty, and look what happens, well happened.

Some may be due to spooky behaviour but a fair bit is due to humans being idiots. After some of the crap he's been through .. if it was me I ... i dunno how long I would have put up with the bullshit. If he never wanted to do another blog post again it'd be a pity but I could understand it.

Anyway i'm speaking for myself, I haven't even recieved a reply to an email I sent about the book last year.

I am gonna miss Arcadia's ability to get on people's nerves tho. And a bit more than that too.

I feel the same way, Joe. And by saying I miss it, I am in no way rebuking anyone! It does seem like most of the people posting here don't have the desire to connect those particular dots anymore, which is fine -- just a little different. I like to read posts connecting other kinds of dots, too.

And really, if someone knows of a better forum for things RI-ish, could you post a link? I'm guessing there won't be many...

Quoted for truth. Jeff holds a very difficult space here, and he somehow manages to hold it even during the times when he's not around.

I think you misunderstood smiths, chiggerbit. I see how it might have seemed he was maybe 'blaming Jeff' - but it read to me more like a true observation, that people's behavior has changed by some perception of Jeff's absence (which I don't really think is the case, even if he's taking a break or lying low doing other things). When the cats away, the mice will play, as they say.

As for EiAE, farewell, and there's no shame in coming back, even after a public exit. I mean, so what? I don't think I have to point out many of your ancient threads, like Images only..(no captions, no words) still survive. You're voice will create a small absence here, but it's good to move on if that's what you need to do.

Your personality always provided something a little different. Only OP ED comes close to your bluntness, but he's all about a whole different bunch of things.

I've spoken to Jeff on the phone twice this week and he's satisfied my concerns about his absence, which after all that has happened I can only respect. If Therese dying brought Jeff closer to his family, she wrought something wonderful in her passing.

Her death won Jeff's freedom. And you fucking narcissists can't even understand what that means.

Ty Brown made a show of putting a quote of mine in his sig on his now defunct forum where I said something to the effect that was was broken here does not get put back together. I meant it then, I saw the break-up for what it was over a year ago. I tried to keep it together, but finally realized there was no point in doing so.
