Thanks 82. I hope Montag agrees with you, but he has every right not to. I behaved like a dick towards him, totally unprovoked, and I deserve to be treated as one by him till he can be reasonably sure I'm not one (which, all things considered, might never happen). :bigsmile

But hopefully it will.

Although certain I am not one of those you had in mind, I nonetheless do like to think of myself as an erudite and straight shooting fellow. However, I am actually fully fluent in double-bind ironic sarcasm, and have been for some years. In fact when the synchronicities start to mount, and my apophenia is in full swing, everything I say becomes saturated with so many layers of meaning, shades of nuance and ambiguity, that it becomes easy for people to read almost anything into what is being said, based upon their own prejudices and expectations.

I hope some people know what I mean. It's a bit crazy sometimes, the references that can become packed into even a simple sentence. Words on a page man, words on a page. Nothing more powerful in the universe, if you want my opinion.

But me, I love everyone who has either the self control to refrain from jeering, or the nous to apologise for it afterwards.

And I aint got nuthin' against conspiracy theory, by the way. Nor Montag neither. I think he's rather nice. After all, I'm a huge Bradbury fan. Here we go, connections, synchronicities, Bradbury, Esalen, Arnold Toynbee, The Toynbee Convector, John Titor and Willis Harmon.* There you see, a few words, a handful of names, and there are several unwritten essays there already. I might even write them one day. It's more likely someone else will write them first though, there are a helluva lot of writers in the world, and very many good ones.

You know, I often think maybe, just maybe everything is connected to everything else in this quantum hologram reality. And what is conspiracy theory but the revealing of hidden connections? A lot of folk seem to have had the revelation that we are living in a time of apocalypse, which derives from apocalypsis, meaning unveiling. I hope that doesn't upset the muslims. There's a bit of double bind ironic sarcasm for you, you see? I was just trying to be funny and illuminating at the same time. Sorry bout that.

Besides which, the way the internet fringe disseminates conspiracy theory type materials, that in itself is a conspiracy.

But shhh, its only me, 82_28 and Chris Knowles that have grokked that so far.

Grokked hehehe. Wasn't that word coined in Judge Dredd? I bought issue one of 2000AD, you know. I loved it. I'm a bit of a comics fan, and there's many connections to be drawn there.

Just call me Ramblin' Rose.

:lovehearts:

* I'm actually rather a fan of Harmon, being a fully paid up member of the New Age and harmless pseudo mystic, like wot I am.

Please, please let that be double-bind ironic sarcasm, winking at the generation gap.

Author Robert A. Heinlein coined the term in his best-selling 1961 book Stranger in a Strange Land.

A lamentable omission perhaps, but I have never read "Stranger in a Strange Land." Good title though.

I read a few works by Henlein, but I never thought highly of him. I think 2000AD has had better writers. Grant Morrison for one. I could go search the rig int forums to find out exactly how suspicious and dodgy Henlein was (a fair bit, I think), but I might just go to bed instead.

So sorry to disappoint, Mr Ash! I wasn't born in 1961, but I was in secondary school when 2000AD hit the shelves, so it was more formative for me than the publication of Heinlein's (reputed) classic.

Take care y'all!

That's how I feel around these parts of the internets these days. I, uh, don't get it.

When I was in high school I was kind of into conspiritainment, but I can't really provide any memories, b/c memory lane was devastated by many years of chemical warfare. ahem.

I'm not really sure what it was that made nathan28's real life persona kick his conspiracy theorist persona out of the house, but I'm fairly certain that B-Rock's ability to 1. get elected without resort to massive, massive hold-democracy-hostage strategies 2. his admin and his advisors' fondness for Bush-like policies, especially the More Bush DOJ than The Actual Bush DOJ 3. the utter unwillingness of anyone in the US to say anything honest about the banks at all 4. a bunch of other shit--All those and other things were involved. Also I managed to get over the paranoid gnostic "the world is in spiritual crisis" framework I had adopted to for several years, but eventually I got my drug and sex dosages high enough to see through that shit.

Actually it was probably sometime around March or April of 2008, I started realizing that all the MSM political stories were remarkably speculative bullshit. I'd hear people say MSM speculative bullshit that reeked worse than anything on this side of David Duke. Then I saw conspiritainment doing the same things. Then I saw people saying that "Adolph had a real sense of the people." Then back to MSM doing it. Then conspiritainment. Then it was just OOOOOBBBBAAAAAAAAMMMMAAAA!!!!!!!! 24/7. Huh?

Then a few things kept showing up. Like the PROMIS thing. The fact that the NMN crew seemed to exist entirely to interfere with an active investigation boggled my mind. That the story dates to the damn '80s is worse. All that says to me is that someone clearly thinks that something that happened was important enough to lie about it for THIRTY GODDAMN YEARS. Hey, all you people living out in the chemtrailer park, do you think you could sort out that degree of reality from fiction? Would it even matter after you did?

In DC, when people get busted for repeated thefts, because certain areas are high-theft zones (lots of tourists park there, etc.) and many people are semi-pro or professional theives, with stashing, fencing, etc., all being known, there's a restraining order issued with a map with various areas blacked out. That's what I was doing with CT. Best source is the Wash. Times? Blackout. Daniel Hopsicker wrote it? Blackout, probably unfair, but his bullshit detector has been broken for a long time. Bo Gritz testified? Blackout. Some dude says that a dimebag he got in the mail (can he send me the number to place orders at?) with some dust in it that someone else claims is from the WTC has "military-grade" "nanothermite" that can, by dude's own admission, but bought by anyone in small quantities, and then he discovered the the stuff in the bag, therefore the WTC was collapsed via gov't controlled demolition? Blacked the fuck out.

There was another thread, it was one TimeTunneler? posted, here, about the potential foreknowledge the extremist right in the US had. Of course, why wouldn't a semi-organized criminal quasi-political network have foreknowledge of quasi-political violent crimes? And why wouldn't a gov't that had not only infiltrated but at times protected that same loose network occasionally at least create memos based on informants' data that also displayed foreknowledge?

Do you get what I'm saying?

A few months ago, I forget who, but some fairly articulate poster here said something to the extent that deep politics / parapolitical perspectives were more or less "nineteenth century" because they still allowed us to implicate Arabs and the Jews (via Israel), and because they relied on the "Victorian" metaphor of the octopus... therefore CD and MIHOP ex Bin Laden / M. Atta etc. must be true, QED. Clever rhetoric, and probably a grain or three of truth to it--but still wrong to the best of my knowledge: X can't be true because A B & C, therefore X', Y does not assume A B & C, therefore X'=Y. Not the case. In fact, the only thing that hasn't been blown to bits by present information is a systemic view like a parapolitical one--

--but even a parapolitical understanding is not a political stance.

And in light of what's happened Post-Bush, the idea of not taking political action because I'm confused into thinking that America has a spiritual malaise on account of the Greys in the fifth density having made a deal with the Reptilians in the fourth density to rape our white women for the elders of Zion because of nanothermate particles some guy bught on the internet is somehow a policy position terrifies me.
