Leonard Cohen, Operative? (Ann Diamond material)

Just remembered the 1975 Joan Baez song 'Diamonds and Rust'......... it's music and (interesting, considering the thread topic) poetic lyrics sound more Cohen-like than Baez, who mostly covered other people's work. (She coincidently released this brilliant piece of her own, soon after Dylan's album 'Blood on The Tracks' was released--a needed promotion?).

I saw an interview with Mary Travers a while ago. She hadnt aged well. The psych drugs seemed very close to the surface.

Never liked the Puff song. Reminds me of the Irish Rovers and their Unicorn. It all seems like blatant programming, in retrospect.

I don't really buy the Miles Mathis line that Cohen secretly wrote Shelter from the Storm. I think Dylan is perfectly capable of borrowing a style and riffing on someone else's theme.

.....neat little coincidence that Judas Priest did a cover of Diamonds & Rust and then ended up in court on fairly spurious charges of backward masking in songs....one of the supposed Joan Baez connections to SRA issues includes the song Play Me Backwards...

1. Judas Priest recorded "Diamonds and Rust"
2. They were taken to court for backmasking on their recordings.
3. Joan Baez' song "Play Me Backwards" (the title refers to backmasking) is allegedly about her childhood in SRA.

You forgot 4. Judas Priest is a character in a Bob Dylan song from the album John Wesley Harding.

Are you maybe saying artists are being sued for backmasking on the flimsiest of evidence?

I originally posted a response with information about one of Baez' alters but it seems to have been taken down.
