Hello, D.R. here;

Several years ago I posted under another tag but somehow the board changed and I think my original log-in got screwed up.
So I'm back after a lay-off.
I used to write for the Portland Free Press under editor Ace Hayes. Did some past work on Evergreen Aviation, a CIA front out of Oregon. Also had lengthy correspondence with Dr. Fuisz from the Susan Lindauer thread. I can confirm much about Fuisz. I will review that thread and perhaps add some further comments.
Thanks to everyone, especially Jeff, for the hard work and inspiration.

Hi everybody. Lots of Cascadians here D.R., witness the Borders Books conversation that turned into reminiscences of Powell's in General Discussion...

Welcome all newbies young and old. Just have this one bit of advice: be sure you know what you're talking about when you post because in all likelihood others here will know more about the topic than you do. Not always, but often enough they will cause you "shrinkage" if you're off the mark.

Great idea bumping this thread, barracuda.

On edit: Corrected misspelling of advice.

That's another thing... be sure to indicate what you've edited when you do edit your post.

Welcome!

Looking forward to the Fuisz stuff. How much of it can you quote? Did you ask him about reports that he had ventures in the 1980s with Khodorkovsky? Not just Seline Modeling, but also a supposed computer venture, according to a 1998 article in New York mag. Would love to hear about both, and anything else you can tell us.

Khodorkovsky thread...

Thanks Jackriddler;

I'm a little short for time at the moment, but I'll put something together and probably tack it on to the Iraqi agent/Lindauer thread, most likely tomorrow

Sounds good Jeff, Metric pringle it is, he was the first and last dog i ever bet on at a dog race, and lost.
And will say while on the topic, that yes, RI has been of great inspiration, I came here from stumbling on one of your RI blog posts and was swept off my virtual feet.

Barracuda, I thought this would be a great thread -

HM - "Perhaps a list would be helpful... of the conspiracy basics from the last century that knowing inside and out... would prepare one to decode whatever comes up next...because there is going to be more and more thrown at us to slow us down..."

But yes, no idea how that would work. I also don't post much as my knowledge is so full of holes. My information retention is very poor, and, being a rare poster, to start a thread can feel a bit daunting, as iamwhoiam says -

"be sure you know what you're talking about when you post because in all likelihood others here will know more about the topic than you do. Not always, but often enough they will cause you "shrinkage" if you're off the mark."

But if the thread is about not knowing what your talking about then I guess shrinkage is less likely

Well said, used to be hohum, now reincarnated Metric Pringle.

When I first came to RI in 2005, I was intimidated by the the quality and intellect of the discussions taking place here and stuck to reading and commenting only on Jeff's blog. It was two more years before I revisited the discussion board and then only to see if anyone was talking about Jeff's disappearance. Due to his now sparse blog postings, I thought 'They' had gotten him!

I too, look forward to you posting, D.R. Glad the Anxious Gravity of RI has drawn you in.

Yes, it's certainly a good thing... quality posts for sure.
I'll have a think re the thread, I think it's important to create tools for the unintuitionated. A sort of basics list would be very valuable imo. "Waking" people up to "reality" is not really the issue so much amongst the young people I interact with. It's which disinformed reality they have had the waking up experience to that is the issue. The first stroll down the rabbit hole is a big deal, but going down the "right" one is another.

Greetings, Metric, I could swear I've seen that name of yours somewhere else before .... sure can't think of where, though.

Anyway, yes, I first came across this place because some of the great minds here posted at D.U. and I was blown away by them. Not often in my life I meet people and think "wow I want to be like that". But I did. (and I didn't actually meet them in person). But I thought whoa these people are fucking INFORMED. Beyond anything that is possible by just reading mainstream shit, which is about all I had done up until that point.

Yeah, the Coincidence Theorist's Guide was the real catalyst.

I lurked for a long, long time myself. I was literally scared to ever post here. I dunno what it was, it just seemed like the topics, the "rigor and intuition" that went along, were illegal in some way. Perhaps, when all is said and done, what we do here will be illegal.

What I've learned along the way however, is that this is the only place I know of that I can bounce my crazy ideas off of others and not get laughed off the stage. Posting here has truly made me more assertive in other aspects of my life, on and offline. In a lot of ways I feel like we're more of a team here and yet not too much of an echo chamber -- though we all do seem to think in roughly the same ways. I think it's because the fascination keeps coming and really for the most part, I don't know whether it's the size of the place, but I have made some good friends here as well and in meat space to boot! There's a lot of shit I don't get -- for instance the weird anti-semitism stuff (accusations of and otherwise) that goes on. Sometimes racist comments go right past me and I just assume when I recognize an avatar and name that the person is a-ok. I stay out of those threads, because I just can't tell! I know what I know and that is, I hate douchebags and I will always side with the used and abused.

Anyways, a warm welcome to newcomers and lurkers from me. I know exactly what it's like. Just dip your toe in and have fun.

Well said. I mean, falling down a hole - where's the accomplishment in that?

The Borders thread brought that to mind. There's a lot of love for deeper learning here, and a care for books is a manifestation of that.

And better a querulous team than a quiescent echo chamber any day.
