Note how the bear was not interested in the soda and chip aisle. If I was a bear, I would have headed straight to the beer aisle myself. :wink

Bad scene going down in Ohio -- owner/slave to scores of exotic animals, including Bengal tigers, bears, lions, and other big cats, chose to release his menagerie and then commit suicide. It's a sad story, no animal uprising here, but there probably should be. The story is simply pathetic. I think all the loose animals are by now dead. This story makes me sick on many levels.

And of course, there is a monkey loose that is carrying a virus... . Cue in screenplay writer for SciFi story of how at The Monkey Pandemic began in Cleveland.

Does anybody know yet whether or not this just a well placed suicide/psyop, running long term? Off the "private zoo keeper" and create pandemonium so to speak. I mean the last hold out being a monkey with a virus?!?!?!

My friend just texted me this:

"49 killed, 6 alive, monkey missing"

Check out some monkey coverage over the years here:

BURNETTSVILLE, Ind. -- A coroner says a northern Indiana man died when his pet pit bull bit into his jugular vein and that bite marks to his forearms show he had tried to fend off the animal.

State police say a family member found 58-year-old Joseph Hines dead at his home outside the White County town of Burnettsville on Monday night.

County Coroner Matt Westerhouse tells the Journal & Courier that an autopsy Wednesday found no medical problems that might have caused Hines to pass out before the attack. He says Hines died from blood loss.

Neighbor Brad Holcomb tells WLFI-TV the dog is friendly and that he often saw Hines walking it around the rural area about 30 miles north of Lafayette.

Mysterious Poisonous Spiders Invade Indian Town
Thousands of arachnids descended upon a festival in the northeastern town of Sadiya, wreaking havoc and leaving two dead.

By Catherine Traywick | June 4, 2012

Swarms of never-before-seen spiders descended upon a cultural festival in the northeastern Indian town of Sadiya last month, biting several people and leaving two dead. The arachnid “invasion,” as the Times of India called it, caused a panic among festival-goers who reportedly jostled one another and tripped over benches in an effort to escape the venomous spiders.

Scientists from Dibrugarh University and Gauhati University have not been able to identify the spiders, which resemble tarantulas but may be a new species altogether. Ratul Rajkhowa, a professor of zoology at Cotton College in the city of Guwahati, told the Times that the spiders could be black wishbones, a species native to Southern Australia. If that’s the case, the spiders’ venom would not be deadly but could, in some individuals, cause severe allergic reactions that may result in death. The individuals who died after being bitten by the mysterious spiders were reportedly cremated before autopsies could be performed, and scientists have yet to test the toxicity of the spiders’ venom.

HOLLYWOOD PARK, Texas—A South Texas mayor has been found dead after apparently being attacked by a 500-pound donkey on his ranch.

The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that the death of Hollywood Park Mayor William “Bill” Bohlke appears to be an accident. Bohlke was 65.

Chief Deputy David Soward says Bohlke apparently was attacked Monday morning by a male, aggressive donkey he kept on the ranch. His body was found Monday night during a search by deputies and relatives. A formal cause of death is pending.

Soward says it’s up to the family to decide what to do with the donkey.
Mayor Pro Tem Steve Phillips will serve as acting mayor of Hollywood Park, a town of about 3,000 just north of San Antonio.

Is the success of urban coyotes a sign of bigger things to come?

A mountain lion roams the streets of downtown Santa Monica until it is shot by authorities.

A black bear searches Glendale neighborhoods for meatballs until it is captured and caged.

Episodes of large carnivores entering urban areas are seemingly on the rise, and scientists say the beasts may be following a path worn by urban coyotes, as well as skunks and raccoons before them.

"We used to think only little carnivores could live in cities, and even then we thought that they couldn't really achieve large numbers," said urban ecologist Stan Gehrt. "But we're finding that these animals are much more flexible than we gave them credit for and they're adjusting to our cities."

At a symposium Friday at Ohio State University in Columbus, Gehrt described his 12-year effort to track and study almost 700 coyotes living in and around urban areas, including Chicago.

By using radio transmitting collars, Gehrt and his colleagues were able to track the progress of the coyote communities and found that they were thriving amid plentiful food sources. The survival rate of coyote pups in urban areas is five times higher than those of rural pups, he said.

The animals, Gehrt said, were serving as a test case for larger carnivores like wolves, mountain lions and bears. It's likely that humans will have to get used to increasing conflict between themselves and wild carnivores.

Eradication programs aimed at specific species, such as the coyote, have shown mixed results, he said.

When Gehrt's study began in 2000, several communities around Chicago trapped and killed coyotes found within their boundaries.

"I think those programs will go away," Gehrt said. "It costs money, and it upsets some residents who want coyotes living there. So there is conflict, cost and lack of effectiveness."

Gehrt also questioned the efficacy of the eradication programs.

"We have great data in areas where removal was done," he said. "You pull them out, and literally within just a few weeks, new coyotes moved in and set up new pack and began reproducing right away."

So WTF? ALL THOSE SPIDERS SPUN INTERLOCKING WEBS?!?!?!

That is fucking creepy. And I'm the dude who has always been the "never kill a spider" dude. I always catch them in a cup and then put some paper under it and throw them outside, even though significant others would plead with me to kill it. I just would take it outside and let it go. I wonder how many spiders are on Earth all told.

The only insects I've recently killed are cockroaches. Fuck those motherfuckers are creepy and it is the only specimen on Earth that I hate just by their behavior and I will stomp, take a glass and smush the little ugly fucker. Man do I hate just the sight of a cockroach. When you see 50 of them all scattering all you want is to institute a bloodbath with all means necessary and available. No, they're not in my house. They're the most despicable creature on Earth.

But all those spiders together is indeed really fucking creepy.

hahaha. We keep the place clean as hell -- everything is covered -- so no worries. It's just it's an old ass building and there are probably colonies of those little assholes and with the mild winter we've had, they just stick around. But it is the cleanest place and most kept up place I've ever worked. It's just old. In fact it has an ancient gas tank in the parking lot dating back to the 20s. Our parking lot was an old service station. You're the one who lives in Pioneer Square anyhow. Talk to the hand. :partyhat :wink
