Re: Comedian Actor Russel Brand dismantles MSNBC show
Brilliant, just brilliant. There've been nearly 900,000 YouTube views of that^^ plus two longer versions of the same interview in the last 20 hours. And maybe ten times as many people saw the original Newsnight broadcast last night.
I'm gonna start a new thread about this, because it deserves it.

Brand [in a far more British and charged/charismatic fashion] essentially echoed my sentiments Re: voting [for elections].

It most certainly is, also on the ballot, Mayor, City Council, and Port Commissioners, among other things. I understand the frustration, but don't agree with the strategy. I say always hit 'em from all sides. I wouldn't want this person to lose due to apathy:MacCruiskeen » 24 Oct 2013 09:41 wrote:Yeah, but that's not an election!Project Willow » Thu Oct 24, 2013 12:12 pm wrote:Nice, but I'm still going to vote. .
There are certainly exceptions at the more local level, as I've alluded in prior vote-related screeds.
Vote for Kshama!

Yeah, me too. Paxman is taking a lot of deserved heat for this, but for all his condescension, he does not seem to genuinely disapprove of Brand on a personal level. I seem to remember he's interviewed Brand on a previous occasion.gnosticheresy_2 » Thu Oct 24, 2013 11:28 am wrote:Get the feeling paxo quite likes him
I'm loving Russell Brand's brand (pun intended) of social criticism. His wide-eyed I-don't-give-a-fuck-ness is pretty difficult to argue against, as Paxman found out.
It's a credit to New Statesman they took him on.

Paxman interviewed Brand in 2011 -- the video was posted by KUAN and myself within the first 2 pages of this thread.RocketMan » Fri Oct 25, 2013 3:17 am wrote:Yeah, me too. I agree with the sentiment that Paxman seems to 'like' -- or perhaps admire to a degree -- Brand.
Paxman seems to be playing "devil's advocate" with Brand in the most recent interview -- saying things he knows will elicit certain replies from Brand -- though of course I may well be wrong; my only exposure to Paxman are the 2 interviews I've seen with him and Brand.
