Right. And it's you and the other Obama supporters who are getting gamed. Obama was a big con, put over on people exactly like you, and millions of others.

The fact that you haven't seen through this con yet is what is so gob-smackingly astounding.

You seem like an intelligent person. Why are you hanging on to this emotional attachment? You're like someone swindled by Bernie Madoff who still insists he's a nice guy who really wanted to make money for you.

It is, frankly, bizarre.

Cosmic Cowbell wrote:I get the feeling that what most wish for here when it comes to politics and governance is simply a dictatorship. That with a wave of his hand, a President may simply, by decree, make things so.

Clearly another post of yours "just to piss some of my RI fellows off," like you admitted to yesterday. Even you could see that this effort of yours was "a bit too trollish."

(But you did say, "Until next time..." So apparently, that time is now.)

What you've written is also clearly preposterous. If "simply a dictatorship" were what any of us on this board wanted, most people "here" might actually be thrilled with the dictatorial direction the Obama Administration continues to take, after picking up exactly where the Bush Administration left off.

It seems to me that people of this message board are overwhelmingly outraged by the fact that, like a dictator and with "a wave of his hand," this terrible president — exactly like the terrible president that preceded him — continues some of the worst abuses of human beings, which have been and continue to be perpetrated in our name.

Despite what Mr. Obama may claim.

(Because — exactly like Bush — Mr. Obama is a liar.)

Yeah, this is the "if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists" line of bullshit.

"If you're not behind Obama, you really want a dictatorship (with everything that entails)"

Nice!

I think Dailykos would be a better place for CC to have these discussions. I really don't know why she insists on having them here.

I'm glad Cowbell brought a decidely contrary viewpoint to the thread. It was getting to be one of the most boring long-term threads on page one, but now, his trolling (or whatever you want to call it), has brought some passion and thought out of the other posters, and made the last few pages pretty interesting.

Hm, I found it to be quite the distraction from what was otherwise turning into a delightful data-dump!

Maybe this thread should be moved to the Data Dump subforum then, where it will be viewed by almost nobody.

The vocal Obama supporters would probably appreciate that.

(Maybe both of them.)

I don't know. I just see some of the attitudes here a not very well thought out or rigorously intuitive. For example, I've asked several times wrt to the US involvement in the middle east/Afpak, what if your wish was granted? What I got from Stimulist was "I don't know". I asked for hypotheticals, what -could- happen?, maybe a worst case scenario or two and all I got was "I ain't got time". And no one else bothered either... I just find that extremely lazy in a intellectual sense. And of course, I suspect most of won't even bother to read the Lizza piece. It's a whopping ten pager and as we all now know, especially you Simulist, you ain't "got time".

Priceless.

As for this "data dump", because that's what it is (or was), it never belonged in GD in the first place and I probably could have cared less...and so, here we are.

Maybe we should all just retire to the data dump for our yearly end of summer BBQ and harvest fest.

Well, since those are the words with which you began your own post, it might have been more appropriate than you realize.

Because at least it was honest.

And it was the utter lack of honesty that got us into these wars — and keeps us in them now.

Lazy? Intellectually lazy? Listen, there's a reason I don't go over to places like Dailykos and waste my fucking TIME arguing with robots. And you just found it.

Arguing with obamabots is like arguing with Bush supporters. I've got better things to do with my life.

If you can't see how you've been duped, that is YOUR problem. You're obviously in deep denial, and no amount of non-laziness on anybody's part is going to convince you, no matter how much your nose is rubbed in the Obama poop.

Limit TelePrompTers, former VP Walter Mondale urges President Obama
by Leo Standora

October 5, 2010
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politic ... s_bam.html

Former Vice President Walter Mondale says he knows what President Obama's problem is: TelePrompTers.

Mondale said the commander in chief is too reliant on what he called "idiot boards" when he's speaking to potential voters.

"I think he loses the connection that he needs emotionally with American voters," the Minnesota Democrat said.

"If you're looking at the TelePrompTer, you're here, you're here, you're here and your audience is right there," he said in an interview on CNN.

Conservatives and others have mocked Obama's use of TelePrompTers for remarks they contend should be delivered in off-the-cuff fashion.

In January, Obama was ridiculed by late-night funnyman Jon Stewart for bringing his TelePrompTer to a sixth-grade classroom in Virginia.

Why don't you attempt the intellectual exercise Nordic and answer the question?

I mean, it should take you a good half hour or so to come up with something meaningful to post.

Shit. Nevermind. I see like Simulist -you "got no time" cause "you got better things to do".

I just find it hard to believe. I mean, y'all got time to stick yer noses into just about every other thread here. It's a weak excuse used by the intellectually lazy.

I'll ask it one more time. Hypothetically, your wish is granted. Tommorrow, the US withdraws from all conflicts.

What happens next?

Well we can all breathe easier because we're no longer complicit in being war criminals in a war criminal nation. We can bring our young men and women home and quit making them slaugther innocent people and quit driving them to blow their own brains out when they get home and start thinking about what we made them do and see.

Life will go on in the world just like it did in Vietnam after we left.

Oh yeah, we'd save a few trillion dollars in the process to boot.

Gosh,t hat's just horrible, I can see why you're so hesitant.

What was the question again?

Oh yeah, to you it's list the litany of disasters if we pull our troops out of all the wars we started.

Why don't you take a crack at it?

To me that was a fucking no brainer. Now I've indulged you. Feel better?

OH WAIT. I left a big fucking thing out: We THEN decide to investigate who started these wars, and why, and where all the money went.

Then we prosecute these godless assholes, and we either send them to prison, or execute them (I'd prefer we execute them, since I really don't think they deserve to be breathing our air).

I know you have a serious problem with that, apparently. Justice is only for the small fry.

cosmic cowbell, you are my hero

but think of all the time you wasted here that you will never get back
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.
