Yes, they need to release the Tebow! He may not last, he may get crushed, but let him rip! He will give his life for the game.

Not an hour goes by that ESPN doesn't have some mention of him these past three weeks.

I like him though. I'm old enough, my hardcore atheist years are well behind me and I'm a big enough Broncos fan that I can truly say I like the kid and can't wait to see if he really can do it whether or not he's a primetime bible thumper.

I literally lol'd at this reply. Tebow making an RI appearance. I somehow missed this thread up until today. Indeed I too would have been tempted to 'reply', sad as it is. Love the Tebow.

I'm with you on that. Very weird. Makes you wonder about the power of human intent into the universe, that sort of thing.

Also, he only threw 10 receptions for that. Sort of a perfect number, strikes me as weird as well. It's a VERY low number for an NFL game. Bizarrely so.

Cool. Good to know. Last week they showed some footage of him with a baby in the stands where it looked like he was sorta blessing the kid.

His religion and dedication to it, as of now, doesn't bother me, I find it fascinating and I find Tebow fascinating in and of his athletic and gracious abilities. What does bother me is people saying "so how did your Tebows do today" or "how about your Tebows?". I'm like Tebow is the QB for my team, the Denver Broncos who I have, as idiotic as it sounds, supported since I was a baby. Quit calling them the Tebows.

But this 13.5 spread for the game against the Pats is absurd. Still not betting, but sure wish I COULD have.

Tebow is a force of nature. There used to be a website while at UF. It was Tim Tebow facts'. Hilarious spoof site. One 'fact' was that his tears cured cancer. I just looked for it but can't find it.
Here are two legit facts though. He played through a game with a broken leg. He absolutely 'wills' a team to win.

Now I liked Elway, but that was long ago. He and migrane guy...I forget his name. I'm a self admitted bandwagoner and I've only been watching the Broncos for 6 weeks.
I'm pulling for the Broncos, but Tom Brady is, Tom Brady. He is going to light it up. Can the Tebows outscore them? I wouldn't take that spread, I'd want more points.
Never bet against the TT though.

Of course the obligatory-

More crazy facts on the 316 tip gleaned from ESPN comment boards:

3:16 coincedence

Tebow threw for 316 yards.
Rothlisberger's interception came on 3rd and 16
Steelers time of possession was 31 minutes and 6 seconds.
Average yards per pass was 31.6

**Demaryius Thomas, the target for the game winner, was born on Christmas

On the Broncos boards some are pondering this:

Image

And calling it the "Mile High Halo".

Some say it came from a plane which flew in a circle above the stadium.

Some say it comes from some kind of a cannon the fires when the Broncos score. These people say it was right after Prater hit a field goal.

Others say no, they were there, saw it and it was neither. It was a cloud and just appeared.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/0 ... 94204.html

Then again, who's to know? If you were at that game, I highly doubt there was anything much else to notice other than the game itself.

Anyways, there's that. Sports people are so averse to synchs in the universe.

Here's a sum up from the Broncos board of all the synchs:

I'm not asking the question of myself but of the people that put their eggs in the "coincidence" basket. I believe in coincidences, but how many coincidences must there be in order for people to grant them greater significance?

From what's been reported I count 8 coincidences:

316 yards passing.
31.6 yards per attempt.
Steelers interception on 3rd & 16.
Steelers time of possession - 31 min, 6 sec
Neilson Ratings - 31.6
Demaryius Thomas born December 25, 1987.
Halo cloud/smoke ring above Mile High Stadium.
Tebow used to write John 3:16 on his eye black.

If there was only one or two of the above coincidences I would probably discard the relevance of them but eight? Eight coincidences? Again, how many coincidences does it take for people to grant the underlying theme legitimacy?

I'll go with the smoke ring from a cannon 'theory'. Seriously, this 'coincidence' thing is silly, imo.
Just a minor note, Tebow did write the 3:16 on his eye black. He also wrote other verses as well.

This will all end next weekend.

Denver can be something of a magical place. When I moved there in my early 20's, it wasn't long before I found myself doing everything I set out to do. I was also more healthy than I'd ever been in my life. All my allergies went away (except for my deadly food allergy), and I never felt in danger there, always felt weirdly safe (unlike in many other places I've lived). I even noticed with the football team back in Elway's day (when I was living there) the team would play spectacularly well at home, always pulling off last minute miracles, but when they got out of Denver they played like shit.

As soon as I moved away from Denver all kinds of bad shit happened to me. Things went rapidly downhill. In hindsight I should have stayed there, definitely should have stayed there.

There's something about the place...

On edit, to add: there are a ton of ghosts in Denver, too, FWIW. I encountered one (at least) and met a lot of other people who had encountered others in different houses. In fact it was uin an old victorian house in Denver where I not only encountered a ghost but my own beliefs about them, and went from not believing in them to realizing they existed, a moment I'll never forget. It was a big moment for me, and I doubt I would even be at this place (R.I. that is) had this not happened to me!

DENVER BRONCOS!!!! Wahoo-o-o!! Goddam... (Oh! Sorry Tim.) Dang! Remember when they were 1-4? Even after losing the last 3 games of the season, they still made the playoffs! 8-8! How many times this season have we counted the Donkeys out!? Then, to the amazement of everyone but me, those mighty hoofs beat the Steelers - on the last play of the game! Again! How perfect was that? Not only did they make the playoffs, but they won a game!

I knew they were gonna melt down the Steelers. I told everybody I knew that the Broncos were gonna win. Yeah right! I thought about betting on the game, but didn't... Not only because I never have, but because in my special world... um... it might have changed the outcome... You know? I didn't want tamper with something special by unduly taking advantage of some poor unbeliever.

Can they do it again? Will the Broncos stomp on the Patriots this Saturday night? I don't care! Not really. The good lord doesn't always give you what you want, but he'll always give you what you need... No matter what happens, this season's miracle finishes have already buoyed Tebow's legend. He has been great for everyone he's played for. He may be the worst quarterback in the leaque, but he picks the team up, and he's not a snot. He keeps hope alive. Tebow's "magic" season has accomplished so much already. His jersey sales are off the charts!!! As noted above, he has signed numerous endorsement deals with a variety of high dollar sponsors. Already, by making it to the playoffs and winning, he has fattened his paycheck by about a half a million dollars! Very nice! And I suspect that this may well benefit the Tim Tebow Foundation. That's good thing , right? Perhaps, a refreshing change from the late night barfights, shootings and wife beatings that we're used to from the Broncos. O-oh-h, who gives a flip if they win or not! I'll be rootin' for 'em because my wife'll be in a better mood if they win. The whole city will be.

Anyway, the Patriots are favored by a lot, and I must say they certainly look like the better team. The Patriots rained terror on the Broncos in Denver just a few weeks ago. They're playing at home with an extra 8 days rest, and just hired Denver's former head coach to be their offensive co-ordinator. (How does that work out?)

One the other hoof, Tom Brady is the devil...just kidding... The Broncos have been underdogs in every must-win game this entire season - but haven't lost one yet. Do you think that if enough people pray for a miracle, it can affect the outcome of a game!? Tebow does have quite a following! It is his legacy, of course, that regardless of the ups and downs of the season, at every level that he has played - his team has won the championship. How much is God willing to carry this miracle forward? The Lord does work in mysterious ways. It is 2012 afterall.

Amen!

You keep sucking me back in I see! Well, okay...and a minor correction to you 'chump', Timmy was on TWO Gator National Championship teams! The first as a freshman backup. Coach would need tough yards, or a changeup, it was TEBOW TIME, motherfuckers! 5 yars from the goal line? Here comes Tebow!
I knew that if he started to do well, and they let him play like he did at UF (let him do his thing), he'd blow up like he's done in college. Force of nature I say. The Gator boards follow all the players, but Tebow is fucking TEBOW...

Image

Image

Image

Example of other verses (he did this sometimes as commentary about what would be said)
Image
Tim Tebow regularly includes references to Bible passages in his eye black. During the SEC Championship game, he guided viewers to John 16:33. The week before, in his last home game as a Florida Gator, his eye blacks referenced Hebrews 12:1-2. Tonight, Tebow is playing the final game of his college career in the Sugar Bowl, and he has included one final message beneath his eyes.

Tebow's eye black says "EPH 2:8-10," a reference to the Epistle to the Ephesians. Ephesians 2:8-10 says:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Tim Tebow takes time to meet families in crisis amid hoopla of playoffs
In his first 2011 start as the Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow was in the glare of the national spotlight.

During pregame activities before playing the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 23, though, Tebow focused not only on the football game ahead but also on 16-year-old Garrett Atwood.

Garrett, a Winter Springs youth who has been treated for a life-threatening illness in Jacksonville, spent time with his hero, thanks to Tebow’s desire to help children and families, especially those in crisis.

“I know there are more important things than winning a game; like Garrett … he’s more important. Putting a smile on his face before the game was more important than winning,” Tebow said during his post-game news conference. “That is the perspective that my faith gives me.”

Facing his first playoff game, against the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, didn’t change that perspective. During his pregame routine, he spent time with 16-year-old Bailey Knaub, who has had 73 surgeries because of a disease that affects vital organs.

The Broncos won both games attended by the 16-year-old fans. But the wins weren’t just another addition to the Tim Tebow mystique.

The kids’ presence helps Tebow, 24, remember that “at the end of the day, it’s only a game.”

Building a foundation
Tebow has been the charitable sort since he was a child, traveling with his missionary parents, Bob and Pam Tebow, and siblings to the Philippines to spread the Gospel. He helped out in the orphanage there founded by his father’s nonprofit association, the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association. He preached in front of schoolchildren and entire villages and assisted in medical care. In the United States, Tebow has discussed his faith in prisons and schools, to church and youth groups, at meetings and conferences.

Bob and Pam Tebow declined an interview request and, despite numerous calls and emails to the Broncos, Tim Tebow did not respond. But various accounts speak of his generosity.

The quarterback wanted to form a charitable foundation while he was at the University of Florida, but the NCAA, the governing body for college sports, prohibited that. Instead, he launched an on-campus group of students and boosters to raise money for charities.

In January 2010, out of college but still awaiting the National Football League draft, he established the Tim Tebow Foundation, based in Jacksonville.

For a professional athlete to launch a foundation as a rookie is atypical, says United Football League Commissioner Michael Huyghue, a former Jacksonville Jaguars administrator and a sports agency owner who has worked with many pro and college athletes.

“Usually making the transition from college to professional is enough of a daunting task that you try not to overload a player,” he said.

But Tebow was different.

“Tim was somebody who was so committed to what he wanted to do, for someone like him it was important to start it right away,” Huyghue said. “It’s not the norm, but Tim is clearly a different person with respect to the benefits of giving and helping out other people and that being a staple of what he wanted to do.”

Finding partners
Foundations can be formed in different ways: Tebow set up a Giving Fund through the Atlanta-based National Christian Foundation, which bills itself as the largest Christian grant-making foundation in the world. Since 1982, it has received more than $4 billion in contributions and made more than $3 billion in grants to thousands of churches, ministries and nonprofits, according to its website. Grants are made by the Tebow Foundation through the National Christian Foundation.

Tebow’s organization raises funds through an annual Tim Tebow Celebrity Golf Classic, Tebow book signings and autographs, a weekly eBay auction and donations from each company or product Tebow endorses. The foundation also partners with existing nonprofits to get more bang from their collective bucks.

The foundation received its 501(c)3 nonprofit status in December 2010 while overseen by Tebow’s brother Robby Tebow, who manages his off-field affairs.

CEO Erik Dellenback was hired in February 2011 as the foundation’s first staff after what he called a “very selective nationwide search.”

Like all major Tim Tebow decisions, the choice was made by Tebow in close consultation with his family and advisers.

“I had known Tim and his family prior to that, which is how I was originally targeted,” Dellenback said.

Dellenback previously served 11 years as vice president and chief marketing officer of the Gator Bowl Association and before that was director of promotions and the director of the ACC football championship game. He originally worked with the Tebow family in 2009 when he and Robby Tebow co-chaired “Night of Champions,” an inspirational event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Power of Tebow
At first, the foundation was little more than a website showcasing what Tebow hoped it would be able do as it evolved, Dellenback said.

He soon got busy building the organization, which initially was supported by Tebow’s personal funds. The inaugural golf classic was held in May 2011, a partnership with Dreams Come True was announced in August, followed by a partnership with CURE International, which provides health care for children in developing nations.

Partnerships between nonprofits can only benefit both parties and the people they help, said James D. Kelly, executive director of the 28-year-old Dreams Come True.

It was Dreams Come True and Tebow Foundation’s W15H (Wish) program that worked together to fulfill Garrett’s and Bailey’s dreams to meet the quarterback.

“We have heard from a lot of people. … We have been very blessed in a short period time,” said Dellenback. “Tim is beloved by so many.”

He declined to say how much money the foundation has distributed. Dana Ring of the National Christian Foundation said that that information will be reported to the IRS in a filing by May 15.

But a sense of the drawing power of Tebow came in a Twitter comment on Dec. 8 from the foundation: “Thanks to your help, we have raised $410,000 of the $700,000 needed to complete the CURE hospital. THANK YOU!”

Dellenback said he reviews all funding requests and recommends certain ones to the foundation board, which includes Tim Tebow. The first criteria for requests is that they be Christian-based, Dellenback said.

The majority of the foundation’s money goes to four major initiatives:

- The W15H wish-granting program, with Dreams Come True.

- The Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, a $3 million children’s hospital in the Philippines and other projects with CURE, which, according to its website, is the leading provider of specialty pediatric care in the developing world. The 30-bed surgical facility will focus primarily on orthopedics. The hospital is expected to open in mid-2013.

- Timmy’s Playrooms at Shands Gainesville; Dreams Come True in Jacksonville and Denver. The playrooms will function as “places of hope for kids,” to help them get away from their illness, meet athletes and enjoy field trips, Dellenback said. The Tebow CURE Hospital will also include a playroom.

- Uncle Dick’s Home, an orphanage in Mindanao, Philippines, that is home to 49 orphans and 13 staff. The orphanage was founded by the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Foundation. Also, the foundation supports 650 orphans worldwide, Dellenback said.

Tebow involved daily
How much Tim Tebow can do for the foundation during football season depends on the Broncos’ schedule, Dellenback said.

“Football obviously takes precedence,” he said. “That is what makes this possible.”

But he and Tebow talk daily about the foundation, whether it is a football day or not. Tebow also regularly promotes the foundation via Facebook and Twitter, even during football season.

Among other things, he encourages his followers to check out the foundation’s weekly eBay auction, which recently featured a pair of pink cleats he wore in a game. Proceeds went to the University of Colorado Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

Since Tebow’s move to Denver and since he has found success, he continues to add to what the national media calls “Tebowmania.”

“We have been surprised not by the passion of the fan support,” Dellenback said, but by the “loving embrace” of the community to Tebow the humanitarian. That response, he said, has been incredible.

“When you actively go out ... to do good in the community,” he said, “you’re going to be successful.”

I heard that Rev.Ted Haggard and Tim Tebow used to smoke crank and suck each other off.

Since then I have learned that Satan is the Emperor of Lies, so I don't believe it. Anymore.
