I have nothing to contribute, just wanted to wish the best to everyone effected by the bombs and the subsequent manhunts, and pray (yeah, i know, but sensibly) for peace and safety for all in the area, especially for those from RI who are Boston residents. Should've sent such a message, not that it helps, a few days back, but anyway.

All the best to Massachusset's and her citizens.

Dear justdrew, Have you ever heard of the military industrial complex? The security-surveillance industrial complex? Do you know what these complexes thrive on? FEAR! After the Cold War, our "nation" had to manufacture an enemy to justify these unbelievably huge complexes. 9/11 accomplished that in spades.

Our nation is a corporation. Our president, a CEO. Profit and control are the only things that matter to these people. If you don't believe me look up our "nation's" 185,000 Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports that spell it all out. 185,000 because every single municipality, district, city, county, state is a corporation in its own right. Our government only discloses one-third of its revenue...the rest--mostly return on investment-- is hidden in plain sight. Trillions of dollars!

Just wondering.

EDIT, now I'm reading he was shot in the neck, so it may have been a precaution. The airway, that is.

DARTMOUTH — Dzhokhar Tsarnaev spent an apparently normal day Wednesday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he was a sophomore, according to a school official, working out in the gym, then sleeping in his dorm room that night, while law enforcement officials frantically scanned photos trying to identify the men who planted deadly bombs at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Card swipes told officials that Tsarnaev, described as a good and typical student who played intramural soccer, was on campus Wednesday, but it was not clear if he had been there earlier in the week.

A student, who did not want to be identified, also said she saw Tsarnaev at a party on Wednesday night that was attended by some of his soccer friends.

“He was just relaxed,” she said.

hmm, you may have been exposed to the David Wynn Miller virus. seek help before it's too late if so.

justify it to who? If my above post is correct, we really do face significant threat from non-state actors. No doubt there ARE problems with the MIC, but most of the budget bloat is due to pork barrel projects not really needed, and costs driven through the roof rather unethically, but most of that money is spent in the US at least. We'd be able to do something about it if we elected better representatives. There is a significant effort to reform military spending, it's weakened primarily by... Republicans, who apparently would rather cut VA benefits.

do you really think a non-bush administration would have invaded Iraq? Or made fools of the nation with our half assed activities in Afghanistan?

The secret cabal is not = the government, but it does have tendrils in there, sometimes more than other times.

War Nerd: What’s a Chechen?
By Gary Brecher
http://exiledonline.com/war-nerd-whats-a-chechen/

Konformist's Robert Sterling

So here's the general model: Rosneft, the state-owned Russian oil giant, has just become the world's biggest oil company through mass acquisitions. The end goal of the acquisitions is the big prize, the oil in the Caspian Sea, which Russia (like the US, Europe & China) wants to dominate. The problem, of course, is that Chechnya stands in the way of the oil. In order to get it, they must crush Chechnya. To stop any PR defense of Chechnyans, the bombing turns Chechnya into an officially sanctioned demon. Look for Putin to declare sympathy for America and support of the War on Terror, then launch an even bloodier offensive of Chechnya. Then look for Rosneft to make even huger and bigger deals over the Caspian oil.

Larisa Alexandrovna Horton

Here is the latest summary of news items regarding the Boston bombings:

1. Chechen mujahedin have formally denied any involvement with the suspects.
2. The older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, had been interviewed by the FBI several years ago at the "request of a foreign government" (although no government has been named, I suspect the Russians were the ones requesting the investigation)
3. The mother of both boys said the elder brother had been interviewed by the FBI had been in contact with her son (investigating him, watching him) for quite some time and on a regular basis.
4. The mother, father, and aunt of both boys say that they are patsies, set up by the FBI.
5. The younger brother - the suspect still being hunted for - seems to have been influenced by his brother and seems to not have been investigated by the FBI.

I have two working theories given the public information:

1. The elder brother became involved with Chechen nationals who either followed AQ or were light recruits (no formal training or funding). He then recruited his own brother. Given that the Russians had him on their radar to the point of asking the FBI to investigate him, suggests that he seems to be some sort of player in the game. That, plus the foreign nationals often recruited by the Chechen mujahedin and the ties to AQ that the Chechen mujahedin have, makes me suspect this as an AQ attack (not as spectacular as 9/11 of course, but still affiliated). AQ also suggests targeting sporting events and using pressure cookers to make bombs.

OR..

2. Something is very wrong with this whole picture. The family appears to be absolutely vehement that the boys were set up. They have made allegations about the FBI watching the elder Tsarnaev very closely. Pure speculation, but it would not be out of the real of possibility for the Russian SVR to create a terrorist attack in the US to frame the Chechens with. They have done this in their own country, so why not in the West? They have killed reporters and whistleblowers as well as members of the Duma in order to cover up those crimes. If they need help from the US to launch aggressive operations against Chechnya, what better way to mobilize the US populace? Again, the issues of the Russian government being so interested in a Chechen legal resident (and later naturalized citizen) of the US is what causes alarms to go off for me. Reminder: this is entirealy speculative, but I thought I would put it out there.

It's not just that "realm" is misspelled, rendering the crucial transition illegible, but it is, and there isn't much besides "the realm of possibility" to tie this to Putin, especially when he's counting on the US to keep NATO out of Syria and Iran. I can't see him launching such an open insult to Kerry for example. What would he gain? On the other hand, those unhappy with the pax Obama that now appears to be emerging in the ME would have every reason to keep the old neocon fires burning, in other words the crowd that gave us 911 in the first place.

You may be right; still, correlation doesn't always imply causation. Since it's still so early in all of this, I think I need more facts — and some time to digest all of them — before I can feel honest in concluding that I really know too much of anything for certain.

Hmm. I'm trying to imagine how I might feel if I believed that some crazy bomber (who's already blown up a bunch of people, and murdered others) were hiding somewhere in my neighborhood, someone who probably still had explosives with him. And I'm pretty sure that I'd feel a real sense of relief to see those massive numbers of cops combing the area looking for the guy.

Hey man, so I need someone to talk to about something. For about three years now I have been completely unemployed, broke, briefly homeless even, and generally a huge (by society's standards) loser. I have applied for hundreds of jobs in that time, and only received the slightest feedback from a couple of scammers and one upstart company too far on the north shore to get to. My resume is lame, "some college" ([redacted] for one semester in '96 and then a couple years at [redacted]), one single job my whole adult life (Low-level admin shit for [redacted]), few discernible skills. I wasn't even getting nibbles for, like, running a cash register at a vacuum store. Then last week I applied for a job, interviewed, and now I have it. It's nothing big, the job itself, pure admin shit again, I'll be a male secretary, a lackey, a gopher, a clerk. And that's exactly what I want, all I want, until I sell a screenplay for a quarter-million and write for a living like a perfectly-happy hermit in a tiny-home somewhere, etc. Thing is, *where* I'll be working is, uh, potentially shady. Like, probably one or more of the biggest brain cells of the Evil Empire brain. I will inevitably be privy to shit I have zero desire to know, knowledge that can probably be bad for one's health. I'm actually shocked I got the job, given there was a background check -- it was either a woefully-incompetent check, or they didn't care, or maybe they specifically *want* me, beats da fuck outta me. I wouldn't have hired me if I were them (or rather, their sub-contractor). It's not the CIA or any spook agency, but, it's spooky in its own way. Now, the reason I would've passed on me is because I might appear to be the kind of person in whom confidential information is at risk of leaking. Shit, I'm practically a religious zealot against organizational secrecy. But here's the thing. First, I have to eat, so I need a job, and this is the only fucking one I've been offered. So, I would do nothing to jeopardize that, unless I saw some secret document revealing a secret concentration camp where babies are being secretly murdered by the millions, then job security can go to hell. Second, I want to live, so I would rather do my fucking job with lips sealed hermetically shut, indefinitely even, and then just try to finish and sell that script asap so I can quit asap and know as little as fucking possible, preferably nothing. Third, I am a man of my word, in the completely normal non-cult sense, so if I sign my name to a contract, namely a confidentiality agreement, then I will keep it. Obviously, again, if there's a secret Holocaust happening or whatever, then fuck food, fuck life, and fuck my word. But, I'm choosing that example for a reason, because of its extremity. Chances are I will wind up laying eyes on some shady shit, not nearly that extreme (hopefully) but still possibly super-unethical, or illegal, or maybe even evil. So, I will have to surrender my integrity at the door, in some sense. Which, I fucking hate. I know I helped birth thousands of assholes into the world of lawyers, but that was in a minuscule indirect way. Here, I would be working at or near the beating heart of Sociopathy, Inc. Helping them, albeit only as a file-clerk or whatever, but, still, it's help, real help. Another clash of values would involve my work ethic, i.e., I absolutely have zero inclination to underperform for any silly sabotage reasons, because it would ultimately mean nothing, and this isn't Auschwitz we're dealing with, and I wouldn't be a mechanic in a Nazi missile factory. So, I am left with this: Me, the anti-secrecy pro-transparency zealot, a peaceful soldier in the unofficial war against badness, I have to be the other kind of "good soldier", diligently sort and process paperwork for The Man, and zip my fucking lips about it the whole time. I'm doing it, I have no choice (only an academic kind of choice, in reality negligible), and I won't be miserable, I'll find the upsides that I know are there, somewhere. But, right now, tonight? I feel kind of sick to my stomach with dread. (Not least because one of the locations I'll be farmed off to could be described as a prime target for some kind of attack, at least as far as that applies to anything in Boston.) Anyway, I don't know if I expect any advice, or what could be offered as such, but if you got any, I'm listening. And thank you, for listening.

Nevermind :)

I reevaluated how negligible my choice really was, and decided that I can probably find another way to make 12 bucks an hour, without signing a confidentiality agreement. Integrity: Intact! In fact, I realized that I will never ever in my life sign such a contract. So, my integrity is actually stronger than ever. I almost agreed to snuggle the devil's busom for 96 dollars a day, before taxes. Good god, what temptations must exist for those with the credentials to be paid even more! And I was just going to be shuffling papers, making copies, answering phones. For one of the most powerful law firms in the world. Boston's real life answer to The Firm. I would've probably seen documentation of unethical, illegal, maybe even evil things. And I would've been trapped in a double-bind, between doing the right thing by squealing when applicable and doing the right thing by keeping my word. It was a trap, a cage, and I barely escaped by choosing like Bartleby not to participate. Thank the gods I am a loser with barely two years of undergraduate credits. Had I been what I could have easily been, perhaps a brainiac with two doctorates in something useful, I might have been offered at some point a job too lucrative to humanly refuse, not just shuffling papers but being the devil's sidekick, or being the devil himself! Fuck that! Long live integrity! Freedom!

Realize that the bolded was just a careful hint of the true anxiety I felt.
I really felt like I would be walking into a death trap, not limited to the skyscraper (the Pru).

Anzor Tsarnaev worked for an auto-body shop before he went back to Europe . . . . I guess that's one possible explanation for where the Mercedes came from.
