Any way to stop that? Proxy maybe?

Use a different search engine that's not based on google's algorithms. Google totally sucks the last couple of years.

Agreed. I DO use a different search engine.

But Google is the DARPA standard and its spew should be assessed to see what the masses are getting served on their info plate...

Just a note to say the Colson Whitehead book pictured in the opening post is an excellent novel. :thumbsup

The actual facts of the case I cited?
Typical troll.

More elevators, more possibility for one of them to eff up.
E.g., a city of 10,000 elevators will be more likely to have an elevator mishap than a town with 2 elevators.
This is basic stuff, isn't it?

Then again, Otis Elevators were slow to repair this faulty elevator and Otis Air Force Base was slow to scramble planes on 9/11.

Yesterday a man got killed by an elevator in Berlin, Germany. Horrible. (Report in German)

Such things happen.

Carry on.

True. More internet mind-fuckery.

But the content of the Aug 16 2003 elevator-decapitation story RERUN on Dec. 15 2011 is not user-specific.

Nor are the two elevator deaths this past weekend.

I dont know what you mean by "Internet mind fuckery"

It's ambitious and he's a skilled artist, so I would not recommend against it because readers have different tastes and experiences. I found it rather slick and precious.

No comment on a 2003 elevator death-by-decapitation being rerun last week? Hmm.

Definitely a fascinating detail and probably the most important element of the original poster's case. Unfortunately, his inability to restrain his apophenia leads to such pronounced post bloat that his best data points seldom get across. All too often, his more sensational (and less coherent) allegations wind up hogging the spotlight, and thus the interesting stuff gets lost in the noise.

I agree with the weak version of the HMW hypothesis, which is that government agencies in league with the MIC have a great deal of influence over cultural phenomena, especially via institutions such as Hollywood that can easily be swayed by bribes of one form or another. But not so much the versions of the hypothesis that correspond to extreme apophenia (or, in many cases, misattribution of meaningful coincidences to human rather than, shall we say, hyperdimensional agency). If the proponents of the HMW hypothesis spent more time documenting the evidence for the weak version, of which plenty exists and (to be fair) has been presented at times by such proponents, they would in general find a wider sympathetic audience on this forum and elsewhere.

No comment on search personalisation?

I have a family member who has written many scripts for a children's TV series. Visiting over the holidays, I asked about how the work they had done had become so 'anodyne' in the final show (a description that they agreed with).

I asked if there was an injection process of extraneous content into the script, and whether they thought that is where government / intel influence might take place. The answer was instructive - the real world she said just about operated 180degrees different than that.

It was not a case of what was removed, it was a case of what was allowed to stay in.

The driving force behind whether something could stay in was $.

If there was ANY risk that a line in a script might
a) offend the corporate sponsors
OR
b) have a health and safety issue that would leave the network open to being sued
then several attorneys would argue a case for it to be re-written.

I was told there is a degree of paranoia about lawsuits arising from the most innocuous remark (equivalent to the TSA prohibiting muffins as terrorism risks) - but the greatest fear is giving offence to the corporate that own the show.

His ideas are delusional. He's (on edit: stark raving) mad.

And whose ideas are you freaking out about now?

You're freaking out over someone's idea that they don't agree with someone's idea ......
