Andes mummies found, ancient tribe

Postby chiggerbit » Thu Jan 11, 2007 1:53 pm

Fascinating. About a dozen mummies belonging to an ancient, tall, fair-haired tribe in the Andes has been found. I can't wait for them to come out with more info, pics on this.

Outstanding post, Chiggerbit.

I love this stuff. I'm fascinated by the shadowy, unknown civilizations that lived there (or everywhere) for which there is plenty of evidence but no conclusions. Before even the Toltecs, for example, nobody knows who built Tiahuanaco at Bolivia near Lake Titicaca, which is declared by the indigenous there to be the oldest human civilization on the continent (the Origin of Man, in fact, is what they claim -- at least on that continent).

I'm glad to see posts like this here on RI.

...It is not known what the Chachapoyas actually called themselves - they are identified by the name given to them by their rivals and eventual conquerors, the Incas....

Kind of puts today's immigration issues into perspective, doesn't it?

Somewhere a few years ago there was a story about Tasmanian Aboriginal people migrating to South America along the bottom of the South Pacific.

I think itspossible to use the currents from Tas to NZ, then there is a large loop that goes from the E coast of S america to NZ and loops south back to Argentina. Also the roaring 40s blow w to E through that part of the world.

haven't found any links to back it up yet tho.

Orz that book, I think it was fingerprints of the Gods or something, sent a mate of mine mad, (well that and the 30 billies a day).

Nowhere near as good as Supernatural either. (tho the first half was a slog).

Hiddenite, from your link

From the genetic evidence, it appears that trans Atlantic crossings have been going on for a long time - the reddish/brown haired, green eyed Auracanians of coastal Chile and Peru not only have some 4-6,000 year old Indonesian genes in them (James L Guthrie), but they also have 12-18,000 year old Caucasian genes forming the basal layer of their complex genetic history. Aztec history confirms that Native Americans in ancient times were Caucasian. This period in history was called; "The Age of the Blonde Haired Bearded Giants".

the migration I was referring to possibly more to do with this than actually the melanesian polynesian thing. If it happened.

I have a maori friend whose family were named in that page, tho I dunno if it fully conforms to their stories. there are a lot of similarities tho.

The descriptions of Maori arrival in NZ match their lore pretty closely, tho they tend to give a bit of importance to the ideas of contat with asian societies/cultures arounf SE and E and possibly NE asia. But the times are possibly 6 to 10 thousand years earlier than the original hypothesis about the migration from Tassie.

The tasmanian blackfellas, although significantly darker than Europeans had red hair and occasionally green eyes. And lighter skin than many mainland groups esp that NW language group. Most whitefellas in australia that spend any time in the sun end up very dark skinned, especially those with some celtic heritage. Its the sun and the beach and working outside that does it.

And the time seems about right for a migration from the western pacific to the W coast of S America.

Apparantly Kuna Kita cave in SW Tassie has signs of occupation that go back over 20000 years.

that would put the potential for that presence of caucasian genes coming from tassie within the timeline of possibility.

How those genes ended up in Tasmanian indigenous people is another matter all together. If they did at all.

...double rows of teeth..

No, that isn't mentioned, and I'm sure they would have had it been true.

et, you should check out Vine DeLoria's books "Red Earth White Lies" and "Spirit & Reason" as well as Vine DeLoria's Seattle Public Radio interview (can be found here) for discussions of Native American accounts of giants with double-rows of teeth...

...as well as Immanuel Velikovsky's posthumous bootlegged papers on the topic (browse beyond that page and there's more).
