Meteor (1979 movie)

Anyone ever seen this? I don't find the "WTC was designed to be a traumatic sacrifice" theory convincing at all, but this movie has some of the creepiest foreshadowing of 9/11 I've ever seen. It'd be interesting to see a list (or better yet a YouTube montage) of all the 9/11 foreshadowing in movies/television. The Siege, Long Kiss Goodnight, The Lone Gunmen, Enemy of the State, et. al. This movie would have to be near the top of that list.

I saw Meteor in the theatre when it was released. I haven't seen it since, so I don't recall the foreshadowing (but I seem to remember a big tidal wave ripping through Toky... I mean, Manhattan). But on the topic of foreshadowing, the opening scene in The Big Lebowski is something. It flips from a shot of Bush Sr. talking about Gulf War 1 on TV, to a shot of the Dude dating a cheque September 11, 1991.

Meteor... was "inspired" by a 1967 MIT report Project Icarus...

The voiceover at the end of the film mentions "Project Icarus,"...

It was also one Natalie Wood's final movies.

'Meteor' (1979) was subliminal priming and justifying of the yet-to-be-announced weaponization of space called the Strategic Defense Initiative nicknamed Star Wars.

The first director of the program, Dr. Robert M. Bowman, went whistleblower and denounced it in a 1985 book called 'Star Wars: Defense or Death Star?' since he'd realized the Reaganauts intended an offensive system and to derail all missile-reduction talks with a cover story of defene.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_ ... Initiative

"In the fall of 1979, at Reagan's request, Lieutenant General Daniel O. Graham conceived a concept he called the High Frontier, an idea of strategic defense using ground- and space-based weapons theoretically possible because of emerging technologies. It was designed to replace the doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction, a doctrine that Reagan and his aides described as a suicide pact.[4]
The initial focus of the strategic defense initiative was a nuclear explosion-powered X-ray laser designed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory by a scientist named Peter L. Hagelstein[5] who worked with a team called 'O Group', doing much of the work in the late 1970s and early 1980s. O Group was headed by physicist Lowell Wood, a protégé and friend of Edward Teller, the "father of the hydrogen bomb".
Ronald Reagan was told of Hagelstein's breakthrough by Teller in 1983, which prompted Reagan's March 23, 1983, "Star Wars" speech. "

SDI - used a lot... ...to explain a lot.
However - the far reaching implications of this “government approved” - taxpayer funded - technological “upgrade” of our strategic defense - is so much more far reaching than anyone - including members of our own government - could ever, ever, ever - imagine.

For many “public officials” - the “Star Wars” program - that spent billions upon billions upon billions of dollars - was simply killer satellites and new forms of radar to stop the “Great Bear” of Russia - the United Socialist States of Russia - from successfully launching a nuclear war on the united states. That threat - from this soldiers point of view - was very, very, real.

It was so much more than that...

The primary purpose was more funding.
More funding - not initial funding - but more funding...
What do I mean?
I mean that the “Star Wars” funding started nearly sixty plus years prior - long before man itself could even realize that they could in fact go into space - however - a certain discovery in the Grand Canyon - during the Roosevelt administration - changed everything.
The change was so drastic that the government started operating in the “Black”.
And... ...in the far north... ...in the "final frontier" state... ...setting the stage for the public NASA... ...to get Americans used to the idea of space travel... ...we succeeded far beyond what we figured would happen.

Wow. I heard almost nothing about this, except here on RI.

And this didn't just SCARE THE LIVING SHIT out of every conscious being on EARTH???

WTF?

If it was a meteor, where is the trail? I've seen some big-ass meteors, and they have trails, and big ones, glowing almost as brightly as the object itself!

So where's the trail with this one? Was this thing even in the atmosphere? If not, why was it glowing so brightly?

Again, WTF?

Maybe the number of truly conscious beings on earth has been slightly exaggerated.

This reminds me of the Norway Spiral, where everybody was just all "ho hum".

Maybe they're related somehow?

Why are people in general so weirdly silent and accpeting of these events? It's almost like everybody is hypnotized to ignore them.

And for some it's "old hat":

US: Fireball Pictures from Brilliant Mid Air Explosion
US: Two witness a beam of green light from the sky moving from place to place
US: Two witnesses watched a bommerang-shaped craft turn into a triangle and then a diamond as it passed over them
US: Two witnesses saw a 'fireball' falling, split into 2, then 5 and fly off, then a second one did the same

Canada: Two witnesses see a very huge light moving extremely fast

It's scary because it doesn't look like a meteor. It looks like something else.

Where's the trail that meteors always leave? I've seen some big-ass meteors, but this doesn't look like one to me.

So if it wasn't a meteor, what was it?
