Same thing at the linked article in the OP. What in hell? I presume that's his mug shot from the Hillsborough county jail. There are only so many possibilities. Incidental trick of the light/reflection. Someone with a morbid sense of humor at the Hillsborough county jail photoshopped the slits in. Someone at the Hillsborough county jail is trying to say something by photoshopping the slits in. Or the guy has slitted pupils.

There is another possible explanation for the Orlando Sentinel photo and the Tampabays 10.com photo. If you don't already think I'm nuts...

What if both photos were altered (by the news organizations?)to make Zimmerman appear to be a r........n for the purpose of dissuading people from looking any deeper into the matter. If the believers in r........s get a hold of those photos I would imagine it could create quite a stir. Then, instead of a call for a substantive investigation of the Florida DCF, most people will roll their eyes at the suggestion of a wider organization of pedophiles, connecting such a suggestion with conspiracy lunacy about r.........s.

DCF? Under fire for having a child abuser under their wings? No kidding. The state agency is a mess and has been a mess for a long time. They operate under the premise that any child left in the care of their parents is a bad bad bad thing... but, they have people like this running the show. I was in foster care, along with 4 other siblings. I was raped in foster care, and so was my sister, and the cops? They also were soliciting we teenage girls with alcohol and drugs in exchange for sex, and said when we objected "no one will believe you... your a foster kid..." Guess what! Even if you are a VICTIM you are BLACK MARKED as a POTENTIAL ABUSER... it's insane... look at poor Belinda Jackson, in Lake County, that poor woman had a visit from a DCF worker, and got a note in the mail a MONTH LATER .. saying we are taking your kids from you... she brought them to the office... hysterical... they were neat, clean, tidy, and well spoken... guess what? She was upset! Wouldn't you be? Rather than work with her and calm her down.. the supervisor .. threw her out .. yelling and screaming at her... that was the last day the kids saw their mom... she left... drove her car into a tree... and was instantly killed.. they then created an ILLEGAL TRANSFER to another county... and then down played the fact that they handled the matter badly, and implied that mom.. was messed up in the head, and they were right to remove the kids from her... afterall.. she killed herself... what would you do? How would you react? If you would cry over the removal over a dog, how would you respond to a note in the mail telling you .. we are taking your kids... so, frankly, DCF needs to be shut down...and transferred to the authority of the police, where AT LEAST... you have some rights... NEITHER myself, or my siblings, will ever forget what happened to us...and it was not good... I hope this guy rots!

This article is misleading, as he was trying to *create* porn by solicitation, not merely surfing on sites.

Anyways, there's a thin line with the "kiddie smut" charge...some upstanding famous researchers have been "busted" when they were merely doing research.

Actually, Zimmerman is being charged with 8 counts of "Use of child in a sexual performance". Admittedly, as far as the story is fleshed out to date, it does not equate with the horrors you mention. Nonetheless, we don't know yet whether Zimmerman was part of a larger organization and what else might have been going on. From the reading I did on the Florida DCF it seems this is not an isolated incident. No doubt the media will portray it as such even if evidence to the contrary arises. I thought it was telling the DCF Secretary Butterworth had this to say in his statement to the media-“In light of this incident, I am asking the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to work with the Department to conduct a thorough investigation to determine if any child in the state’s care has been victimized. Mr. Zimmerman’s alleged conduct is an egregious breach of the public trust and will not be tolerated. He has been terminated.”

"...will not be tolerated" is pretty light language. Also, the thorough investigation will focus on whether any other children in the state's care were victimized, which is as it should be. However there is no mention of the flip side of that coin, namely a thorough investigation of the perpetrators in the DCF. Presumably you cannot investigate one without investigating the other, but does anyone believe that if a wider network of pedophiles is unearthed we will ever hear about it?

I'm a little surpirsed that the board did not find the media photos of zimmerman more noteworthy. I apologize if anyone feels I took this story in the wrong direction. Certainly it is a story worth following sans weird pseudo-reptilian looking photos of Zimmerman. Nonetheless, I am somewhat reminded of a friend of mine that is working on a full body suit of tattoos. If you ask him why he has no tattoos on his face he'll explain how he considers that garish and over the top.
