I've been hearing it for years. It's often described as sounding like a diesel engine; to me, the best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a far away truck approaching, but it never arrives.
Anybody else (or know of anyone)?
Edited to add: It's heard all over the world--I'm nowhere near Taos.
Has anyone been around thousands of 17 year cicadas? That is the exact sound in my head, not quite that loud but, always there, at night it is really hard to ignore.

I began to realize towards the end of the trip that I wasn't hearing the low-pitched hum, and I swear I noticed a distinct lack of ringing in my ears, so perhaps tinitus is merely a phenomenological description rather than a name for the cause or explanation (since the definition of tinitus includes idiopathy in most cases).
I don't know what to make of this at all. I suspect they're performing mass mind control experimentation using ELF waves, perhaps using the GWEN tower network, cellphone towers, HAARP (both Gakona, AK and other similar major and minor installations), in order to effect overall mood changes in the populace. It would stand to reason that a variety of frequencies, waveforms, propagation mediums, geographic areas, neuro-demographic groups, and target moods/thoughts/brainwave patterns would be experimented and reported upon.
Yes. Tinnitus? It can be really bad on some days, other days it's gone.
What part of the world are you in n0x?
I'm further south in Central Texas.
