All men watch porn, scientists find

Scientists at the University of Montreal launched a search for men who had never looked at pornography - but couldn't find any.

Researchers were conducting a study comparing the views of men in their 20s who had never been exposed to pornography with regular users.

But their project stumbled at the first hurdle when they failed to find a single man who had not been seen it.

“We started our research seeking men in their 20s who had never consumed pornography,” said Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse. “We couldn't find any.”

Although hampered in its original aim, the study did examined the habits of those young men who used pornography – which would appear to be all of them.

Prof Lajeunesse interviewed 20 heterosexual male university students who consumed pornography, and found on average, they first watched pornography when they were 10 years old.

Around 90 per cent of consumption was on the internet, while 10 per cent of material came from video stores.

Single men watched pornography for an average of 40 minutes, three times a week, while those in relationships watched it 1.7 times a week for around 20 minutes.

The study found that men watched pornography that matched their own image of sexuality, and quickly discarded material they found offensive or distasteful.

Prof Lajeunesse said pornography did not have a negative effect on men's sexuality.

“Not one subject had a pathological sexuality,” he said. “In fact, all of their sexual practices were quite conventional.

“Pornography hasn't changed their perception of women or their relationship, which they all want to be as harmonious and fulfilling as possible,” he added.

I'd be lying if I said *I never have* watched porn -- like when I was 14 or something. Always found it soul "sucking" and left me feeling horrible. Too many female friends who have been abused. Count me in as one straight man who hates porn.

Well, there is tasteful porn out there. Where all parties are actually enjoying it. I've always found the standard typical porn rather phoney & I never did enjoy it. Kind of like eating junk food. More amateur stuff tends to be a little more tasteful & the folks doing it tend to be more natural & are enjoying it.

heh, do you have to be a dude to vote...?

Seriously?

I love porn, as long as it's porn that I like. How's that for a tautology. Which usually involves the woman looking like she's REALLY enjoying whatever it is she's doing.

I'm not sure I can trust a guy who says he doesn't like at least some porn! I'm not saying that as an insult, to you directly, just saying that when I hear a man saying something like that I can't help but think he's trying to be politically correct for the sake of the women in the crowd.

I suppose there is always the option of listening to it. But then there is the conundrum of being blind & deaf....

Here at my day-job we distribute Braille Playboy and duplicate another State's recordings of Playboy in audio format.

And yes, I've been looking at porn since 1st grade.

My Mother bought me my first Playboy for my 9th birthday.

To me, porn for the blind would simply be a naked woman within arm's reach.

I found my Dad's stash when I was in eighth grade. Hidden in a drop ceiling in my parent's bedroom. Ahhh, the 70's. Playboys and some relatively racy Penthouses.

What's funny is how the print stuff has changed since then. The pictures have gotten way more hardcore, but the stuff they write about has backed off from some themes that will nowadays get you in serious trouble.

My mom busted me with them and asked me how I found them. I always assumed she knew about them, but now, thinking back, I wonder if I got my Dad in trouble.

Then again, she always said she didn't care where he got his appetite, as long as he ate at home.

My wife doesn't feel that way.

I love it when social scientists do studies that reach startling authoritative conclusions on matters so uncontroversial that they barely even meet the criteria for "consciously noted common knowledge" from the perspective of ninety-nine-point-nine percent of the non-academic universe. I mean, if not for them, what would "Science of the Times" write about on Tuesdays? On a related note, it's also been well known since 1969 that all women are bad.

For reals. It was confirmed in subsequent studies and everything.
