Crazy: Some in CIA wanted to create fake Saddam Hussein sex video, report asserts

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0525/cia-wa ... t-asserts/

A little-noticed blog post by a veteran intelligence reporter averred Tuesday that the CIA's Iraq Operations Group weighed a plan prior to the 2003 Iraq invasion that sought to discredit Saddam Hussein by portraying him as gay.

According to Jeff Stein, a longtime intelligence reporter who first revealed that FBI officials had eavesdropped on a sitting Democratic congresswoman, the CIA's Iraq Operations Group considered creating a video that would the then-Iraqi leader having intercourse with a teenage boy.

“It would look like it was taken by a hidden camera,” a former CIA official purportedly told Stein. “Very grainy, like it was a secret videotaping of a sex session.”

The CIA would have then “flood[ed] Iraq with the videos,” the official added.

A third former CIA official said that the plan was shot down, in part, because others in the agency thought that claiming Saddam had sex with boys would do little to undermine him.

Story continues below...

“Saddam playing with boys would have no resonance in the Middle East -- nobody cares,” another purported CIA official is quoted as saying. “Trying to mount such a campaign would show a total misunderstanding of the target. We always mistake our own taboos as universal when, in fact, they are just our taboos.”

A current U.S. official told Stein he couldn't confirm or deny the former CIA employees' claims.

"While I can't confirm these accounts, if these ideas were ever floated by anyone at any time, they clearly didn't go anywhere," the official told Stein.

Stein notes, however, that the CIA did make a video in which a fake Osama Bin Laden enjoys a campfire and the company of his associates while bragging about their juvenile paramours.

The agency actually did make a video purporting to show Osama bin Laden and his cronies sitting around a campfire swigging bottles of liquor and savoring their conquests with boys, one of the former CIA officers recalled, chuckling at the memory. The actors were drawn from “some of us darker-skinned employees,” he said.
Eventually, “things ground to a halt,” the other former officer said, because no one could come to agreement on the projects.
They also faced strong opposition from James Pavitt, then head of the agency’s Operations Division, and his deputy, Hugh Turner, who “kept throwing darts at it.”
Fundamentalists in Iraq have shown disdain for their gay compatriots since Saddam's fall. In some cases, according to human rights activists, they've resorted to grotesque violence.

The television news agency Al Arabiya reported last year that a prominent Iraqi human rights activist asserted that some men have died after gruesome anal torture.

"A prominent Iraqi human rights activist says that Iraqi militia have deployed a painful form of torture against homosexuals by closing their anuses using "Iranian gum,” the network said. "Yanar Mohammad told Alarabiya.net that, “Iraqi militias have deployed an unprecedented form of torture against homosexuals by using a very strong glue that will close their anus.”

"According to her," the report added, "the new substance 'is known as the American hum, which is an Iranian-manufactured glue that if applied to the skin, sticks to it and can only be removed by surgery. After they glue the anuses of homosexuals, they give them a drink that causes diarrhea. Since the anus is closed, the diarrhea causes death. Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq.'"

So, obviously he did have many doubles. Some for him and then some for the US -- or is that all the same? So fucking sick, so fucking craven. Some things that defy belief I happen to believe in -- this being one. Unbelievable. All too believable. Ugh. What kind of a world have these assholes created?

It's a motherfucking hall of mirrors.

Why do our government's proposed solutions always seem to involve making gay porn? Really, we have more sexual hangups here than they do in the Middle East.

CIA wanted to create fake Saddam Hussein sex video

I don't know what the CIA's operating budget might be, but whatever it is it's too much.

....standard procedure....

INDONESIA AND CIA PORNOGRAPHY

...in the 1950s, the Central Intelligence Agency showed somewhat less commitment to Indonesian law and democracy when it attempted to undermine the regime of Mrs. Megawati's father, President Sukarno, who was deemed pro-Communist.

As one memorable part of its campaign, the CIA produced a pornographic film intended to discredit the Indonesian President in the eyes of his people.
The story of the CIA porno film is told in "Portrait of a Cold Warrior," the 1976 memoir of CIA officer Joseph Burkholder Smith (pp. 239ff).

Based on reports that President Sukarno had been seen in the company of a Soviet stewardess, Smith wrote, "our special Sukarno committee was formed to accomplish ... the production of a film, or at least some still photos, [purportedly] showing Sukarno and his Russian girlfriend engaged in his favorite activity."

"Exploiting Sukarno's sexual appetite in this way was a tricky theme. His conquests didn't disturb Indonesians too much.... However, what we were saying was that a woman had gotten the better of Sukarno. Being tricked, deceived, or otherwise outsmarted by one of the creatures God has provided for man's pleasure cannot be condoned," as the CIA understood Indonesian culture.

"Also," Smith continued, "we were interested in the impact of this theme outside Indonesia, for our purpose was to present Sukarno in as unfavorable and unsympathetic light as possible. If he were deposed by our friends the colonels, we wanted the world to agree with us that Indonesia would be better off."

First, the CIA attempted to find a Sukarno lookalike in the existing repertoire of pornographic films. "Los Angeles's supply of blue films suited our purpose, we thought, because they included dark male subjects ... who might be made to look like Sukarno with a little touching up."

When that didn't work out, "we decided that we would try to develop a full-face mask of Sukarno. We planned to ship this out to Los Angeles and ask the police to pay some blue film star to wear it during his big scene."

Smith writes that in the end, he "never tried" to make use of the product of CIA's secret pornography initiative. But author John Ranelagh reports in his book "The Agency" that the resulting anti-Sukarno porno film was entitled "Happy Days," and that "still photographs were taken for distribution in the Far East."

Despite the CIA's efforts, Sukarno remained in power until 1966, when he was deposed by Suharto.

If Madsen has his facts straight...

Afghan ambassador to United States set up by neocons
Sep 22, 2010, 00:21

(WMR) -- U.S. State Department sources have told WMR that the recently fired ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States, Said Taleb Jawad was fired by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, partly on the orders of the Obama administration.

Jawad had been critical of the policy of the US/NATO Afghanistan commander, General David Petraeus, for reinstituting a policy of increasing air strikes, which has increased civilian casualties.

Jawad, who served as Afghanistan’s envoy in Washington for the past seven years, had been a favorite of the neocons for his constant references to the Taliban being allied with “Al Qaeda,” the phony construct created by the neocons and CIA as an excuse for America’s war of aggression against Muslims and other opponents of the United States around the world. In 2006, Jawad insisted that Osama Bin Laden was hiding in major Pakistani cities where kidney dialysis was available and not in caves in remote Pakistan. More recently, Jawad criticized President Obama’s July 2011 Afghanistan withdrawal date for U.S, troops.

However, after the Karzai family and government was cited as responsible for a major financial fraud involving the Kabul Bank and information leaked out through the opposition that Karzai planned further election fraud in the parliamentary election held this past weekend, Jawad let it be known he was not happy with Karzai. Jawad had also pushed for a coalition government with Karzai’s presidential opponent, Abdullah Abdullah, after it was revealed that Karzai’s election was fraudulent. Karzai’s outreach to the Taliban was also criticized by Jawad.

In classical neocon fashion, Jawad suddenly found himself the subject of a smear campaign using doctored photographs, leaked to the Afghan web-based media, showing women in sleeveless dresses dancing and guests drinking alcohol at an alleged Ramadan dinner at the Afghan embassy in Washington. Jawad said the photographs were faked and that he was being subjected to a smear campaign. Jawad, who is accredited as the Afghan ambassador to Brazil and Colombia, was traveling to both countries at the time of the alleged Ramadan dinner at the Washington embassy. Jawad is also accredited to Argentina and Mexico. Jawad said there was no such dinner held at the embassy while he was traveling in Brazil and Colombia.

Amid the furor over the photographs in Afghanistan, Jawad was fired by Karzai and told to return to Afghanistan. A friend of the ambassador said that Jawad’s personal safety in Afghanistan could be at stake but that the likelihood that Jawad would be granted political asylum in the United States was slim. The friend said, “the United States does not grant asylum to those from countries considered allies.” However, it looks likely that the U.S. will grant Jawad and his family residency in the United States. Jawad was a dual U.S.-Afghan citizen but had to give up his American citizenship when he accepted the position as Afghan ambassador to the United States in 2003. Jawad has been told by Kabul to vacate the Washington embassy by September 22.

I find it intersting that they are admitting to making a Bin Laden movie as well.

And yet, we're still supposed to believe all those threating BinLadens, who resembled each other just about as much as Times Square Santas, are all the real thing...be verrrry afraid.

As for Saddam drinking with the guys and committing sodomy IMO it would have fell a little flat since comedians went there first...

Hugh, you are aware of the Bing Crosby Hollywood Palace Christmas special from 1965, right?

He and his brother let the CIA make a fake sex film at their studio to discredit President Sukarno of Indonesia with an actor wearing a rubber mask to impersonate him.

This is the reason for the disinfo decoy story about 'Brice Taylor and Bob Hope' in her book 'Thanks for the Memories.'
Hope and Crosby? Get it?
Poor women, if she isn't just a CIA liar, then she was hypnotized to tell this decoy story, still a victim but also still enabling multiple cover-ups.

1965. American professor David Hoggan is a problem for the CIA because he has been featured in Spiegel magazine and he is the darling of old Nazis in NATO who are connected to the Gehlen Org. and Dealey Plaza and an East German border guard named Egon Schultz is that country's martyr killed by the West in a tunnel escape incident.

So we get 'Hogan's Heroes' and Bing Crosby helps out the CIA again by having the cast on his Christmas special to sugar the US-Nazi connection with holiday cheer in a recreation of the WWI 'Christmas Truce' in the trenches.

>idealizes authority figures, mostly male
>perpetuates stereotypes to exploit
>keeps citizens hooked as an audience

Especially given the history of CIA efforts to influence post-WWII Europe with state-sanctioned culture affecting the 'thinking/sharing' middle-class who staff and run social infrastructure.

Would the recruitable masses be left out of Culture War? Of course not.
Despite my young years I could tell something odd was afoot when the TV sitcom 'Hogan's Heroes' had a laugh-track for Nazis. I'd already seen Buchenwald photos.
I recently heard Randi Rhodes joking on Air America Radio that she had learned all she knew about the Geneva Conventions from 'Hogan's Heroes' and all she knew was that "Lebeau could cook."

The CIA and the Cultural Cold War Revisited
by James Petras

(book review)-
Frances Stonor Saunders, Who Paid the Piper: The CIA and the Cultural Cold War (London: Granta Books), £20.

This book provides a detailed account of the ways in which the CIA penetrated and influenced a vast array of cultural organizations, through its front groups and via friendly philanthropic organizations like the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations. The author, Frances Stonor Saunders, details how and why the CIA ran cultural congresses, mounted exhibits, and organized concerts. The CIA also published and translated well-known authors who toed the Washington line, sponsored abstract art to counteract art with any social content and, throughout the world, subsidized journals that criticized Marxism, communism, and revolutionary politics and apologized for, or ignored, violent and destructive imperialist U.S. policies. The CIA was able to harness some of the most vocal exponents of intellectual freedom in the West in service of these policies, to the extent that some intellectuals were directly on the CIA payroll. Many were knowingly involved with CIA "projects," and others drifted in and out of its orbit, claiming ignorance of the CIA connection after their CIA sponsors were publicly exposed during the late 1960s and the Vietnam war, after the turn of the political tide to the left.
.....
The CIA's involvement in the cultural life of the United States, Europe, and elsewhere had important long-term consequences. Many intellectuals were rewarded with prestige, public recognition, and research funds precisely for operating within the ideological blinders set by the Agency. Some of the biggest names in philosophy, political ethics, sociology, and art, who gained visibility from CIA-funded conferences and journals, went on to establish the norms and standards for promotion of the new generation, based on the political parameters established by the CIA. Not merit nor skill, but politics—the Washington line—defined "truth" and "excellence" and future chairs in prestigious academic settings, foundations, and museums.
.....
The CIA's cultural campaigns created the prototype for today's seemingly apolitical intellectuals, academics, and artists who are divorced from popular struggles and whose worth rises with their distance from the working classes and their proximity to prestigious foundations. The CIA role model of the successful professional is the ideological gatekeeper, excluding critical intellectuals who write about class struggle, class exploitation and U.S. imperialism—"ideological" not "objective" categories, or so they are told.

The singular lasting, damaging influence of the CIA's Congress of Cultural Freedom crowd was not their specific defenses of U.S. imperialist policies, but their success in imposing on subsequent generations of intellectuals the idea of excluding any sustained discussion of U.S. imperialism from the influential cultural and political media. The issue is not that today's intellectuals or artists may or may not take a progressive position on this or that issue. The problem is the pervasive belief among writers and artists that anti-imperialist social and political expressions should not appear in their music, paintings, and serious writing if they want their work to be considered of substantial artistic merit. The enduring political victory of the CIA was to convince intellectuals that serious and sustained political engagement on the left is incompatible with serious art and scholarship. Today at the opera, theater, and art galleries, as well as in the professional meetings of academics, the Cold War values of the CIA are visible and pervasive: who dares to undress the emperor?

DiEugenio also raised the Specter (pun intended) of Danny Casolaro in lamenting the dearth of good information on the Dulles Bros. This was while he was putting the finishing touches on Destiny Betrayed...
Posted 02 June 2012 - 05:04 AM

The only two other books on Dulles I know of are the one by CFR member Peter Grose, and the one by Srodes which was published by Regnery.

IMO, even though the Mosley book is old, and is about all three, I still think its the best one.

But, there has never been a really satisfactory bio of Dulles. There actually was one in the works once. I think it was by that RIchard Smith guy who wrote a book about OSS. But it was cancelled before it came out, even though Peter Scott got an early draft of it and used it once.

Don GIbson called the author up and asked him what happened. He said, "Do you want to hear about a giant conspiracy?"

Joe Green once told me that the Mosley book really underplays the Dulles cooperation and profiteering with the Nazis prior to the war, especially by Allen. It also underplays just how radical a change Allen made in the mission and culture of the CIA once he took the helm. Made possible by the presence of his brother at State.

When Truman wrote his famous December 1963 article condemning the CIA, SIdney Souers saw an early draft of it and sympathized with the sentiments by saying that Dulles had certainly twisted around the agency that Truman had Souers start up for him. To the point that they both barely recognized what had become of it.

I really doubt that anyone could actually do a good biography of Dulles. You would end up like Danny Casolaro.
