End of the World Movies: Does the PTB Know Something?

Postby Montag » Sun Jul 18, 2010 4:52 pm

I recently watched the movie The Road, also there was, of course, 2012 and the Book of Eli (which I haven't seen). Can't think if there's been another one recently. Is this pure entertainment/fantasy or will the crash be coming soon? I suppose this can be perpetually debated, but this doesn't really seem to be discussed much/at all in the 'mainstream', but Hollywood seems to be making something of it.

I remember in the early 70s, there was a lkot of talk about the mid 80s as being a potential time from Hell. Authors who were big at that time were often more focused on nuclear threats, global war and the like. Then the 80s came and were much more fun for a lot of Western people than they anticipated and the early 90s were great then there was a lot of Nostradamus stuff about 1999/2000 which then hooked into Y2K, which came and went with a whimper, then came 9/11. Many things started seeming a lot darker around that time.... I say this because for many older people, 2012 wasnt even on the temporal map back in the 70s. Each generation seems to be forgetting the myths it creates. I think one scenario that is very important to prepare for in 2012 is that... nothing happens.
Will it then become the Unix date armageddon in (?) 2028?

I think it is very important and powerful to de-mythologize the elite. They are only the elite cos they own stuff, not cause they have wisdom or intelligence. I know someone who met a certain Veep who was seen as being Darth Vader in many circles. My friend described him memorably as 'an unpleasant little wanker' .

As for end of the world movies, they go back to the 30s, and I was re-assured to see were often awful back then too :)

I think they know it "all". It is all meant to be obscured from you. The amount of disaster, apocalypse, 2012, barren wasteland movies who all get their screenings in glitzy ass, morally retarded LA belies the point that disaster is fucking profitable. Therein lies our hint. Cui Bono and all that. Who profits? Who profits off of seeding these ideas in and of this temporal space us idiots inhabit? They're feeding off of and using those profits to SEED a new reality. They're making day to day life be run by retards. "Retardedness" is much easier to manipulate and surveil when you know all of the variables. So you keep variables to a minimum, plug in the algorithms, insert where need be the amount of "imagineering" you need and then run the process again. You make it appear as though there is a vast landscape upon which creativity can thrive. You use the thriving nature of this creativity to turn it back upon itself thus creating feedback. The feedback grows in ever more awful levels of volume. This feedback is being "monitored" to create the "reality" in which to plug back in. Humans, like it or not are all analog.

It's called perception. And every good manager that takes that carnegie bullshit class, or landmark or whatever, knows this. But they don't know what it is doing to, because they are inculcated to not think about the ramifications, only the results as they apply to them. It's pure, intentional, social obfuscation. It only exists within the mind's eye. It is hypnosis and everybody is asleep. It is a concentration camp.

William James, in his textbook Principles of Psychology, remarked:
Everyone knows what attention is. It is the taking possession by the mind, in clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneously possible objects or trains of thought. Focalization, concentration, of consciousness are of its essence. It implies withdrawal from some things in order to deal effectively with others, and is a condition which has a real opposite in the confused, dazed, scatterbrained state which in French is called distraction, and Zerstreutheit in German.[3]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention
Hypnosis is a mental state (state theory) or imaginative role-enactment (non-state theory) usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a long series of preliminary instructions and suggestions.[1] Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion"). The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as "hypnotherapy".

The words 'hypnosis' and 'hypnotism' both derive from the term "neuro-hypnotism" (nervous sleep) coined by the Scottish surgeon James Braid around 1841. Braid based his practice on that developed by Franz Mesmer and his followers ("Mesmerism" or "animal magnetism"), but differed in his theory as to how the procedure worked.

Contrary to a popular misconception - that hypnosis is a form of unconsciousness resembling sleep - contemporary research suggests that it is actually a wakeful state of focused attention[2] and heightened suggestibility,[3] with diminished peripheral awareness.[4] In the first book on the subject, Neurypnology (1843), Braid described "hypnotism" as a state of physical relaxation accompanied and induced by mental concentration ("abstraction").[5]

Sir Isaac Newton is one of the greatest geniuses in history, but few know that he also predicted a shocking new date of the Apocalypse. Though famous for discovering gravity, calculus, and the basic laws of universal motion, Newton possessed a very dark and mysterious side. Thousands of his private papers, only recently made available, reveal a man secretly obsessed with alchemy and Biblical prophecy.

Nostradamus Effect: The Rapture

When millions of people all over the world vanish, a biblical prophecy that has come to be known as the Rapture will be fulfilled, and a floodgate of horrors will be opened on those who are left behind. The Apostle Paul foresaw a moment when all Christians would suddenly be caught up into the air with their Messiah. This would occur prior to the final outpouring of God's wrath upon the wicked. Even Native America Hopi predicted the faithful would be taken off the Earth in advance of a final war between good and evil. Many claim that all of the events that presage the Rapture have already happened. Does this mean that the Rapture is almost upon us? If so, we are now on the threshold of an Apocalypse.

Then there's The Colony on the Discovery Channel

AN ALL NEW SURVIVAL EXPERIMENT BEGINS TUESDAY, JULY 27 AT 10PM ET/PT

What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? Even if you survived it, could you survive the aftermath?

Season Two of THE COLONY introduces viewers to a new group of volunteers with differing backgrounds, skills and personalities, to bear witness to how these colonists will survive and rebuild in a world without electricity, running water, government or outside communication. Over the course of 10 episodes, the colonists — who include a construction foreman, teacher, carpenter and auto mechanic — must work to utilize and strengthen their exploration, technology and survival skills in ways they've never had to before. THE COLONY features on-going commentary and input from experts in homeland security, engineering, psychology and the medical community, with expertise and insight into what the future could look like after a biological disaster.

Filmed on 10 acres of abandoned neighborhood on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, THE COLONY'S simulated environment had been left decimated by Hurricane Katrina, a naturally occurring disaster zone that was slated to be bulldozed and turned into a public park. Empty buildings, weedy streets and the backwoods are all the colonists have to work with as they scavenge essentials for survival from their surroundings while fending off threats such as wild animals and malicious outsiders.

Throughout this season, the colonists face daunting physical and emotional challenges as they attempt to survive in a world void of all the niceties they've ever known, including environmental dangers such as disastrous weather and indigenous wildlife.

THE COLONY begins with the volunteers facing a 72 hour isolation period to psychologically shift their perspective from our modern world to the end of the world. Shortly after the integration into the colony, the threat of survival becomes imminent as hostile outsiders push them into a physical confrontation. How do the colonists respond and will their newfound skills be enough to protect their supplies and lives?

Postby 82_28 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 6:51 pm

This is something I noted to myself way back in the day of the "beginning" of this Iraq "war" and so on, coupled with the media's attention to torture.

The hottest show was fucking FEAR FACTOR! It coincided great with war, torture, coming down off the negative high of 9/11. Then the show fucking disappeared!. Gone. No pomp and no circumstance. This was the days of the "torture" mind you.

So just for the fuck of it, way back when, I go to Fear Factor's website -- I sensed some connection. They have a forum. Or had, I should say. I don't even want to look up if any of that site exists to this day. But the whole thing is people suggesting, delineating, describing ways in which to humiliate and hurt one another in ways where the people who would be subjected to this are powerless. So on one hand you have the "government" torturing and that was the news back then, but then you have the hot show FEAR FACTOR, SOLICITING ideas as to how one would go about fucking with people's lives and psyches. All in one fell swoop, the "PTB" had it in the bag. They made it popular and they also made brainstorming torture lucrative.

Is it really anything new? IMDB will yield you a 10 page list of TEOTWAWKI movies dating back to the dawn of cinema. Ragnarok, baby!! Humans REALLY like to fantasize about burning it all down.

That's what I meant by perpetually debated... Just like probably at every turn of the century some people think it's going to be the end of the world, or how there are always people who believe it is the Biblical end times. I was asking have I noticed an uptick in Apocalyptic movies, and then I was asking if that's really noteworthy at all.

Like the UFO/ET issue if one is a survivalist, I think s/he is considered to be (in the MSM) a nutter. Hollywood pumps out, by the boatload; alien/ET movies, of course, also.

End of the World Movies: Does the PTB Know Something?

Oh, they know something alright: they know that keeping the public in a perpetual state of confusion and dread is beneficial to them.

That's interesting b/c I don't think most of the sheople think about their world ending... But it does fit with instilling fear in people which probably most of us would agree is something that is done to the masses.

Yes. The PTB know quite a lot. Especially how scientific fascism works.

There are several propaganda functions at work in apocalyptic-dystopian psyops movies:

1) "Creating sophistication" is a propaganda science term that means introducing a previously unknown subject for the brain to begin to process. This is commonly done with entertainment fiction and disinfo W.O.O. to take advantage of amusement and disbelief as distancing shock-absorbers. "Hasn't got too much rat innit."
This gradual introduction to information prevents horror, outrage, and, ultimately, focused awareness leading to activism.

2) Conditioning the public to see the world in survivalist terms perpetuates a fascist status quo. This is how military-intelligence operates and wants the public to accept the harsh culture of brutal atrocity that is the norm in militarism by taking on the same values.
So any narrative that justifies police-state and military actions, even in fiction, acclimates the public to the real hot dirty wars behind the CIA-media veils.
One of the simplest and most effective psyops strategies is mere exposure to take advantage of the brain's tendency to accept 'what is' as an unchangeable given with resignation that morphs into rationalization and, finally, justification.
Oddly enough, this is called The Mere Exposure Effect in propaganda science.

3) Desensitization. Fascism, militarism, capitalism, and now global warming all cause tremendous mass suffering. The Vietnam-era generation was not exposed to this in CIA-media as children so when they saw what real war looked like the cognitive dissonance was intense. Many were motivated to rebel, organize, and mutiny. So the CIA-media cranked up the brutality and gore in entertainment to desensitize youth and sanitized the 'news reporting' to reduce that trouble-making cognitive dissonance. This strategy mostly worked and will be continued to support both a permanent economic war and global warming effects.

Consider the British Petroleum oil volcano global disaster.

In 1998, Bruce Willis starred in a movie called 'Armageddon.'
