Silvio Berlusconi denies under-age girl reports

AP Thursday, 28 October 2010

Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi today dismissed as "media trash" reports that two television executives helped introduce an under-age girl into his entourage.

Italian reports say a 17-year-old Moroccan runaway named Ruby told prosecutors she attended dinners at Mr Berlusconi's villa in Arcore, outside Milan.

Daily newspaper Corriere della Sera said today that a news director from Mr Berlusconi's Mediaset empire and a TV impresario had been placed under investigation for allegedly aiding and abetting prostitution. The girl reportedly denies she had sex with the premier.

Silvio Berlusconi gave me cash after we had sex, says teenager:

The girl, identified only as Ruby and allegedly an illegal immigrant, claims that she had consensual sex with the prime minister at his luxury villa in Arcore, outside Milan, according to Italian press reports.

Prosecutors have reportedly opened a dossier on the claims but not a formal investigation. They stressed that Mr Berlusconi is not under investigation and that they are trying to verify the woman's account of the alleged encounter.

But Il Giornale, the newspaper owned by Mr Berlusconi's brother, described the allegations as a potential "sex scandal" and another "D'Addario case" – a reference to Patrizia D'Addario, the prostitute who last year claimed that she slept with the prime minister at his mansion in Rome.

Magistrates cautioned that the Moroccan woman's claims might be without foundation and could be part of a plot to blackmail the 74-year-old premier, or an attempt at self-promotion by the aspiring showgirl.

The teenager, who is now 18, claims that she attended several private parties thrown by Mr Berlusconi at his home between last year and this spring, at a time when she was trying to break into modelling or television.

She was part of a circle of aspiring models and actresses who were allegedly introduced to the prime minister by a prominent show business agent, Lele Mora, although he has denied all knowledge of the case.

Investigating magistrates said her accounts were sometimes contradictory and that she had made claims which she subsequently retracted.

The story emerged when she was thrown out of an apartment in Milan after an argument with her Brazilian flatmate in May, the Italian press reported.

She was stopped by police, who found she had no residence permit, but pleaded for leniency on the basis that she knew the prime minister, and proceeded to tell them of her alleged encounter.

One of the magistrates in charge of the case, Antonio Sangermano, has experience in investigating prostitution and extortion cases, but on Wednesday refused to comment on the claims.

Prostitution itself is not illegal in Italy, but the law prohibits organised prostitution and you must be older than 18.

A member of Mr Berlusconi's People of Freedom Party dismissed the story and predicted that it would prove to be untrue.

"This is the same old stuff – as we get closer to elections, out come the various D'Addarios bragging about their encounters with the prime minister," said Nunzia De Girolamo, an MP.

The allegations come at an awkward time for Mr Berlusconi, whose approval ratings are at their lowest level since he was re-elected prime minister in May 2008.

He has been involved in a feud with his former political partner, Gianfranco Fini, who has threatened to block any legislation that he and a group of rebel government MPs do not like.

Mr Berlusconi has for months tried to pass legislation that would guarantee him immunity from prosecution in two potentially damaging corruption trials in which he is accused of bribery, tax fraud and false accounting.

In one of the trials, he is accused of paying a £370,000 bribe to David Mills, the estranged husband of former Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell, in exchange for giving false testimony in court.

When was the time NOT awkward for signore Berlusconi and when did he not coast through it?

Silvio Berlusconi investigated in teenage prostitution case

Italian prime minister also suspected of abusing position by putting pressure on police

John Hooper in Rome
Friday 14 January 2011

Silvio Berlusconi has been formally placed under investigation on suspicion of paying for sex with a 17-year old girl, according to a statement issued today by prosecutors in Milan.

He was further accused of abusing his position as Italy's prime minister by bringing pressure to bear on the police to cover up his alleged relationship with the girl, who was working as a prostitute. The two alleged offences carry sentences totalling 15 years in jail.

The statement said Berlusconi, who has not been charged, had been invited to present himself for questioning. The prosecutors said he had been formally made a suspect on 21 December, but the news only broke today on the website of the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

Berlusconi's legal team said today the investigation was "absurd and groundless" and the allegations raised had already been denied by the main figures in the case. They called the inquiry a "very serious interference in the private life" of the prime minister.

The reported investigation concerns Karima el-Mahroug, otherwise known as Ruby Rubacuori or Ruby Heartstealer, a then 17-year-old Moroccan girl who told investigators last year that she had attended parties at Berlusconi's villa near Milan. One of these, she was reported to have said, ended in an erotic game known to participants as "bunga bunga".

Berlusconi Investigated Over Rubygate
Nicole Minetti’s office searched. PM alleged to have induced her to help cover up inside story of Arcore party

MILAN – The Milan public prosecutor’s office is investigating Silvio Berlusconi on suspicion of “extortion” and “child prostitution”. According to the allegations, Mr Berlusconi used his position as prime minister on the night of 27 and 28 May 2010 to induce officers at Milan police headquarters to wrongfully give custody of the then 17-year-old Moroccan girl, Karima El Mahrough aka Ruby, who had run away from a juvenile rehabilitation centre, to Lombardy regional councillor Nicole Minetti in order to cover up having used a child prostitute over many weekends at Arcore, to ensure his impunity and to prevent the inside story of his parties at the Brianza residence from coming to light. A note from the public prosecutor’s office explains that the PM’s name was entered in the register of persons under investigation on 21 December and that today he received a summons to appear before the magistrate. In the same note, the Milan chief public prosecutor, Edmondo Bruti Liberati, points out that the offence of exploiting prostitution is alleged to have taken place at Arcore in the period from February to May 2010.

THE CHARGES – The crime of “extortion”, as defined by article 317 of the criminal code, punishes with imprisonment for four to twelve years any public official, or person delegated to provide a public service, who abuses his position or powers, or forces or induces another person wrongfully to give or promise money or other benefits to the public official himself or to a third party. The prime minister is charged with the crime of “child prostitution” with aggravating circumstances (article 600 b, in the form described in the second paragraph), which punishes with imprisonment from six months to three years anyone performing sexual acts with a minor aged from 14 to 18 in exchange for money or other economic benefits. This is the only case in which the client of a prostitute is subject to penal sanctions.

SEARCHES – The repercussions of the Rubygate investigations are emerging during searches currently under way in Milan, including that of the premier’s right-hand man and long-standing administrator of the Berlusconi family portfolio, Giuseppe Spinelli. Years ago, Mr Spinelli was investigated with Mr Berlusconi over the Medusa film company and the Macherio residence, and he was one of the directors of both the Dolcedrago holding company and the Idra real estate company, which owns Arcore. Investigators visited the office of Mr Spinelli, who is not under investigation, to carry out a search but were met with the objection that the rooms “pertained to the political secretariat of the Honourable Silvio Berlusconi”. According to sources close to Mr Spinelli, investigators did not contest the point and called off the search, leaving Mr Spinelli’s office. Police officers are also searching the office of Nicole Minetti, the regional councillor under investigation for complicity in both adult and child prostitution. The same suspicions have been levelled at Lele Mora and Emilio Fede.

POLICE OFFICERS AGGRIEVED PARTIES – No members of the police forces are under investigation in connection with the Berlusconi/Ruby case. To the contrary, the officers at Milan police headquarters who received Mr Berlusconi’s phone calls are the aggrieved parties in the extortion with which the PM is charged.

RUBY’S VISITS TO ARCORE – Karima, the 17-year-old (in 2010) Moroccan woman at the centre of the case, in which Mr Berlusconi is under investigation on charges of extortion and child prostitution, is thought not to have been telling the truth when she claimed in public she had only been to Arcore on one or two occasions. Crucially for the investigations, analysis of traffic on her mobile phone is believed to contradict her. She is reported to have been placed at Arcore not once but on many weekends when Mr Berlusconi was present at his residence.

What the Heck Is Bunga Bunga?
Only Silvio Berlusconi knows for sure.
By Brian PalmerPosted Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at 5:55 PM ET

An aspiring model and part-time belly dancer claims she witnessed sex orgies at the villa of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Karima Keyek says Berlusconi referred to the parties as "bunga bunga" sex sessions and said he'd learned about them from Libyan President Muammar Qaddafi. The phrase has taken Italy by storm, but no one is quite sure whether Berlusconi made it up or if it's a legitimate Libyan phrase. Where did bunga bunga come from?

Possibly from an old joke. The phrase bunga bunga has no meaning in Arabic nor in any of the Berber languages spoken in Libya. If Qaddafi did teach a sex act by that name to Berlusconi, he might have taken his inspiration from an old English-language joke. The joke, in short, involves three Westerners captured by a primitive tribe. The chief offers each of them a choice between death and bunga bunga. (In some tellings, the alternative is unga bunga.) The first two choose bunga bunga and are sexually tortured in various ways before being killed. The third, seeing what's come before, selects death. At this, chief sighs heavily. "Death you have asked for, death you shall have," he says. "But first a little bunga bunga."

The phrase has gained currency around the world since the Berlusconi story broke, but it was occasionally used as slang for a sex act before then. Earlier references to "performing bunga bunga" in print and online suggest a group sexual assault. Urbandictionary.com, for example, contains a 2004 entry describing bunga bunga as a kind of "brutal anal gang rape." In his 2009 book Iky's Bipolar World, memoirist Randy Cassat tells the old joke and later uses the phrase to refer to anal rape in prison.

Bunga bunga didn't originate with this joke, though. Colonialists in Australia referred to a particular region as the Bunga Bunga country, a name supposedly taken from the locals. (Modern Australians might be familiar with Lake Bunga, which still bears the name.) In 1843, the area become known for a mass murder, which may have been followed by cannibalism. Later on, Westerners—including the Bloomsbury group—started using the phrase bunga bunga to caricature the speech of primitive tribes, especially those of Australia.

It's not at all clear how Qaddafi could have learned the joke. He famously hates the English language and doesn't speak it publicly. (Berlusconi, in contrast, speaks English proficiently. He also indulges in the occasional off-color joke.) Still, the Libyan leader is known for his fondness for women. He has been accused of trading journalists access for sex. He travels with an elite corps of female bodyguards, many of whom wear makeup and high heels.

Bunga isn't always a nonsense word. In Indonesian, a beautiful woman can be described as bunga desa, or the "village flower." The verb berbunga-bunga means "to be frantic or wild with joy." But neither phrase has any sexual connotation whatsoever, so it's very unlikely that Berlusconi or Qaddafi was making a subtle Indonesian reference.

Escort claims Berlusconi's 'bunga bunga' parties full of young girls

An escort who claims she was paid €10,000 (£8,500) to spend two nights with the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, has revealed how his parties were "full of young girls".

Nick Pisa in Rome 10:09PM GMT 28 Nov 2010

An escort who claims she was paid €10,000 (£8,500) to spend two nights with the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, has revealed how his parties were "full of young girls".

Nadia Macri, 28, said she was personally called by Berlusconi, 74, and invited to a party he was hosting and how he described himself as "the dream of all Italians".

Miss Macri said she could not go into details of the nights she had spent with the media tycoon as they were the subject of an investigation by prosecutors.

The divorced mother-of-one, first came under the spotlight last month when she claimed to have been paid to have sex with Mr Berlusconi and revealed how "girls had queued up for him" in his swimming pool.

She had also claimed in her leaked statements that soft drugs had been available at the parties, arriving on his personal plane but she never saw Mr Berlusconi take any.

Yesterday during a television interview she gave the first full account of the so-called "bunga bunga" parties at his official residences in Arcore near Milan and at Villa Certosa in Sardinia.

She said: "There were lots of young girls, I think they were minors but we didn't speak to each other as we were told not to talk.

"I gave my number to Berlusconi's secretary, I can't remember her name, she was his organiser and she said I would be called again. I was called on my mobile by Berlusconi.

"He said 'I am the dream of Italians' I said, 'who is this ?' and he said 'It's the Prime Minister of Italy.' It was a beautiful moment to get to know him."

Speaking of the parties she said: "The girls were young and it didn't sit easy with me. It reminded me of the Noemi (Letizia) episode and I remember thinking so there are young girls.''

Last year Mr Berlusconi was involved in controversy after it emerged he had attended the 18th birthday party of underwear model Miss Letizia without fully explaining his relationship with her.

In her interview Miss Macri described how she had been invited to the Berlusconi parties and said: "I was in a car one night in Milan when I stopped at a traffic light. A man stopped me, he was in his 30s and he was a good looking guy and we started talking.

"He asked if we could talk so we did and he said did I want to make some money by meeting important people. He said I could earn €5,000 by meeting important people like the Prime Minister.''

Miss Macri added that the man was the chief bodyguard of showbusiness agent Lela Mora who is under investigation for supplying prostitutes and she eventually met him at his office in Milan.

She added that she was told to "dress sexy" for the Berlusconi parties and that she was the only Italian women in a group made up of Brazilians and Russians.

Before going to Mr Berlusconi's they were taken to see his close friend TV news presenter Emilio Fede and who personally selected the girls for the parties - he is also under investigation.

Miss Macri said she had gone to the parties in the hope of securing Berlusconi's help in a custody battle with her former husband and added: "Maybe I shouldn't have said I was an escort when we met.''

Following her appearance Mr Berlusconi's lawyer Niccolo Ghedini issued a statement in which he said: "With relation to Nadia Macri's interview everything she said is without foundation.

"What she said has already been proved false by facts and several witnesses. It is interesting to see her giving an interview and we reserve the right to take legal action.''

Somewhere, millions of Italian men are green with envy.

Seriously, for the Italian male mindset, does this even constitute bad behavior?

And do they have a concept of "sex addiction?"

Because this seems like a textbook case of sex addiction on the part of good old Silvio.

Italy PM Silvio Berlusconi prostitute allegations widen

Italian prosecutors have alleged that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi had sex with a "significant number" of young prostitutes.

In a request to search some of Mr Berlusconi's properties, they cited allegations that he had paid the women or given them free use of apartments.

The prosecutors are investigating whether Mr Berlusconi paid to have sex with a 17-year-old nightclub dancer.

Mr Berlusconi says he has never paid for sex.

The document that emerged on Monday was published on the website of Italy's lower house of parliament.

It was announced on Friday that Mr Berlusconi was under investigation.

Prosecutors have to make a request to a parliamentary committee if they want to search the property of a member of parliament.

The document includes allegations that Nicole Minetti, a former dental hygienist of Mr Berlusconi's who is now a regional official, was involved with several others in procuring the young prostitutes for the prime minister.

It details claims that a number of young women were put up in apartments in Milano Due, an American-style suburb that Mr Berlusconi built during the 1970s.

...

Mr Berlusconi said in a broadcast on Sunday that he had been in a stable relationship since splitting with Ms Lario.

"It's absurd to even think that I would pay to have sex with a woman," he said.

"I would consider it degrading."

I believe him that he thinks they do it of their own volition, therefore its probably more a case of sex slavery when the money is paid to the middle men in the form of favors, so technically he is not paying the prostitute, but its much worse in fact.

Perhaps he just pays them with bouncy cheques, he doesn't seem like an honest man.

its interesting how many of those little tyrants get caught with indiscretions only because they are unable to pay for sex services, because of some "issue" with masculinity....later they pay ten times more for the lawyers, but that doesnt make them feel humiliated.
