UH, YEAH. YUP. YES.

Fixed in the interest of Truthiness.

Okay folks, the title of this thread is:

Cryptome founder: "Wikileaks is a fraud"

The OP is about John Young's criticisms of Assange, putative founder of Wikileaks. John Young is the founder of Cryptome, and he made the quoted claim in an email to wikileaks posted at Cryptome that can still be found there by following the link handily provided for you in the OP. So please tell me willard why exactly (quoting wombat quoting you) "this threads title is a lie, one of those lies that CIA etc have been pushing for years"?

And wombat, please tell me why exactly that patently stupid and false statement merits this comment:

UH, YEAH. YUP. YES.

from a mod? Possibly you were under the weather as it were? Because I don't get it at all, thanks.

p.s. "patently" means openly, just to make this a little easier. For more context, see preceding post.

lupercal wrote:^ hey thanks for the bumping an old friend whoever you are. I was getting around to explaining why you have your head up your hole vis-a-vis Bergoglio but it'll have to wait a few more days. If after however long you've been here you still can't figure out when you're being lied to you're either a lost cause or you like being lied to, so I don't imagine having the obvious explained to you will do much good anyway. It rarely does.

Onward. . .

The hell? No, please, condescend to me and explain the obvious. I insist. I beg you.

And yes, I can't wait for the privilege of having my head extracted from my hind. Go on, please do.

And trust me, I may very well be a lost cause, I'm a prototypical hopeless schmuck.
But don't believe for a second that I ever like being lied to. Say your piece.

^ Okay that was civil enough so the least I can do is point you in the right direction, although a full-on Bergoglio-a-looza is going to have to wait.

Basically the liar-in-chief here is the hilarious "journalist" Horacio Verbitsky, who seems plucked from an early Graham Greene novel, and whose salacious claims conveniently surfaced in 2005, at the very moment Bergolgio was being considered to replace JP2, but lost to the now-resigned Joseph Ratzinger.

Well what do you know, the wellspring of Verbitsky's claims, when you get down to it, is an interview he supposedly conducted in 1999 with a priest named Orlando Yorio who alleges that Bergoglio conspired to have him and another priest arrested in 1976. For example:

"I don't have any reason to think that [Bergoglio] did anything for our freedom," he told journalist Horacio Verbitsky in a 1999 interview for the book El Silencio. Yorio accused Bergoglio of lobbying Argentina's bishops to stay away from him and Jalics. He also said he thought Bergoglio talked with Massera, the commander in chief of the navy, who had informed him that Yorio and Jalics were guerilla leaders. This, according to Yorio, allowed Bergoglio to "wash his hands" of concern for the priests. "He didn't wait for me to come out alive," Yorio said.

    http://www.newrepublic.com/article/1126 ... t-he-knew#

The problem is that Yorio died in 1999, shortly after the interview was conducted, and Verbitsky' book remained unpublished until 2005 -- just in time to torpedo Bergoglio's chances of replacing JP2 but long after it was possible to get any kind of independent verification of Yorio's claims. The other priest (Francisco Yalics) has reportedly made never made such claims and recently issued a statement that he and Bergoglio had reconciled.

So basically the sole source of the utterly irresponsible and unverifiable claims widely dispersed by the Guardian, Robert Perry etc is busy Verbitsky's say-so, period.

---------------
p.s. Verbitsky is apparently the creature of one Peter Gruber, current sponsor of Verbitsky's dubious CELS:

The Foundation is completely endowed by the Grubers, and receives no outside funding. Peter Gruber's long and successful career in the asset management business has made the Gruber Foundation possible.

Yeah, because the Cardinals are so afraid of their church's long-standing warm and public association with the butcher dictators of Latin America (and Spain, and even Italy), which they have never renounced, that they ran, ran away from the then radioactive Bergoglio and felt forced to make the safe, politically correct choice of a former Hitler Youth who headed the (renamed) Office of the Inquisition and ran the pedophile cover-up (which, as we all remember, was getting absolutely no attention at the time by comparison to Verbitsky's book). And Bergoglio was so totally going to win an election in a College that was actually being presided over by said head of the Inquisition and pedophile cover-upper in chief, whose election every observer with half a brain knew was assured.

And look! Oh, my, God, Verbitsky also has a rich sponsor for his foundation. Where will the Vatican find the resources to defend themselves?

I'll see you on some other thread. Your theses are always at their most entertaining when first introduced, and don't reward second rounds.

^ you have a strange way of expressing remorse, which is what any decent human who got caught peddling low-rent hate porn on a person they know zip about ought to express. And why are you so emotionally invested in swiftboating the pope, anyway? You've said several times you're not Catholic. It makes you look a bigot and a stooge.
