The "911 propaganda onslaught" thread

Somebody has to start it, so I'm gonna.

It's begun. Billboards, TV commercials, it's really ramping up.

Every day on Yahoo News, there's some "news" story about somebody's unique experience on 9/11. The one that sticks in my head was about some surfer who saw it from the water.

But I just saw an ad for this one. Didn't know what it was at first. And I was appalled.

I was even more appalled when I saw what it was.

Does anyone remember National Geographic? Back when it was the incredible magazine we grew up with? Where they did real honest to goodness stories about different places and peoples in the world, and they somehow always managed to avoid political points, but would dance around such things and just report basic facts about life in these places?

Well, now we have this:

The words over the image read:

George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview
An Intimate, Exclusive Interview About His Experiences That Day

Image

All from here:

http://www.nationalgeographic.com/remem ... emgngc_186

The TV ad for this is particularly horrifying -- a perfect CGI replication of one of the airliners, in close up, flying in EXTREME SLOW MOTION, into the building.

Wow.

Billboards near my house have been showing some other stuff, too. I'll try to get a shot of them here soon.

It would be nice to have one thread rather than two or forty or ten...

Thanks for that. Kevin Ryan was great calling in. Notable imo that the Popular Mechanics guy tried to focus solely on the fall of the buildings, avoiding the failure of the air defense until callers brought it up.
He was also very sketchy on the fall of Building 7. I think that's a tough one for laypeople to believe, that this skyscaper fell due to debris from another building falling on it.

maybe one of our numerous moderators could combine the two threads?

Still, who *actually* cares about the media's 9/11 10 year saturation? Or do you think it's more of a subtle or subconscious thing? As I am willing to bet most people(especially people under 35) don't get a crap about 9/11 or even want to hear about it. And maybe that's ok...I call it the "meh" generation or "iGeneration"/ipod generation.

When "Terror expert Evan Kohlman" is on MSNBC talking out his ass or when news media pounds 9/11 into people's brains every year this time of year...who is it directly appealing too?
Youth arent politically active, so it's not like an assault on them as they're already passive. The few active leftist political groups are more middle aged and older, so the propaganda wouldn't work on them.
and average every day parents and working adults are too concerned with uncertainties with finances and things to nary a care.

Destructive thread title. Please change it.

The events of September 11, 2001 are denoted as "9/11," the eleventh day of the ninth month of the year.

"911" is the American phone number for emergency response by men in uniform.

Your confusing the two is playing right into the hands of the perps who designed the death of a few thousand people as a meme for ending the Enlightenment.

Merged! That was educational. Blame me for any problems that occurred.

edit: I 50% agree with Hugh's point. The other 50% knows that "/" doesn't exist lexically online except as a directory structure break in URLs.

Unintentional on Nordic's part of course, but you are a thousand percent correct on the 911 emergency number-9/11 thing and the death of enlightenment by a singular event.
Obama, Osama...hey who paid for Obama's schooling again in Pakistan?

It's practically a joke at this point that 9/11 is basically the same as 911.

Except for the fact that 9/11/73 was before "911" as a telephone number ever existed.

You know, the whole Allende thing in Chile.

People say it "nine eleven", they don't say it "nine slash eleven".

I put this originally into another thread, but I think it belongs here, too. It's such an obvious piece of emotional propaganda.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/man ... 19915.html

At funeral, dog mourns the death of Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan

Jon Tumilson, a Navy SEAL, was one of 30 Americans killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 6 when a rocket-propelled grenade took out a U.S. Chinook helicopter. He was mourned at a service in Rockford, Iowa, attended by 1,500 family members, friends--and Hawkeye, Tumilson's dog.

The Labrador retriever was such an important part of Tumilson's life that the friends and family of the San Diego resident called the dog his "son."

When Tumilson's friend Scott Nichols walked to the front of the room to speak, Hawkeye followed, Today.com reports. "As Nichols prepared to memorialize his friend, Hawkeye dutifully laid down near the casket," Scott Stump writes.

Forgive me, but ....

Work with client's energy company to:

*start a golf tournament on September 11th,

*launch a "911 alternative" phoneline, and

*announce a '9/11-inspired' "Emergency Preparedness" Plan.

I just want to make clear that what Mayo did might have been a "boutique" job at the time but here and now in 2011, that's what we call a "turn-key system" -- I've done work for clients who offer ORM (online reputation management) and that's the phrase they use. This dizzying array of promo is ready to go and dirt fucking cheap, in terms of page-for-page costs.

The golf tournament, 911 alternative and real world stuff, however, is definitely beyond the scope of what you can buy off-shelf.

Damn, Wombat, that's one hell of a link!

Makes me sorta go

Thanks for that. I mean, I knew that sort of thing was going on, but to see it all spelled out like that, with THAT particular example ........

That's why I keep pushing it, man, it's a stunning slice of competitive research. I've never seen such a tacit admission of guilt without an actual confession, you know?

Exactly! Any connection to Buzzy Krongard with that fellow?
