The "assassination attempt" on Obama.

Postby barracuda » Thu Nov 17, 2011 5:57 pm

"Assassination attempt" in quotes because Obama was 3000 miles away when the shots were fired. There have been some attempts to tie Ortega-Hernandez to the Occupy DC protest.

Gunman with an 'obsession with Obama' is arrested in Pennsylvania days after bullet hits window of the White House

The suspected gunman who opened fire on the White House has been arrested at a hotel where bomb squads are sifting through his belongings, officials said today.

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was found by a state trooper at a hotel near Indiana, Pennsylvania, shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Just days earlier, bullets from an AK47 peppered the White House with one window close to the President's bedroom being cracked.

Police said that Ortega-Hernandez had become 'obsessed' with Obama and that God had given him a personal mission to attack the White House.

'He hates the president, he hates Washington, he hates society,' another official told the Washington Post.

Ortega-Hernandez is due in court in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, later this afternoon.

Gunfire was heard between the White House and the Washington Monument on Friday evening. An abandoned car with an assault rifle inside was later discovered by police.

Police believe that the gunman opened fire across a lawn from half a mile away then ran off.

When the White House was checked, a bullet was found to have smashed through a window. It was only stopped from going inside by the bulletproof glass interior layer behind it. A second round was found outside.

Authorities are investigating Ortega-Hernandez's mental health and say there are indications he believed his attack on the White House was part of a 'personal mission from God', according to a law enforcement official.

A U.S. Park Police bulletin said he was 'unstable with violent tendencies'.

It is also believed the man had become obsessed with Obama and the White House, according to two officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Barack and Michelle Obama were not in the White House at the time. He was in California en route to the APEC summit in Hawaii.

The window is in front of the so-called Yellow Oval Room, according to the White House website.

The room is in the middle of the family's living quarters on the floor that includes the president's bedroom and the Lincoln Bedroom.

The Secret Service said that Ortega-Hernandez is mentally disturbed and had been in Washington for weeks before opening fire, coming back and forth to Washington Mall.

Man charged with Obama assassination attempt

WASHINGTON – A 21-year-old man accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle at the White House last week was formally charged Thursday with attempting to assassinate President Obama or members of his staff.

Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, 21, said he understood he would be moved to Washington, D.C., to face the charges.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez of Idaho Falls, Idaho, made his first court appearance before a federal magistrate in Pittsburgh on Thursday, one day after he was arrested at a western Pennsylvania hotel. He will be taken from the federal court in Pittsburgh to face the charges in Washington.

If convicted, Ortega-Hernandez could face life in prison. He will remain in federal custody until a magistrate in Washington can determine whether he should remain jailed until his trial on the charge.

Ortega-Hernandez sat quietly as the hearing began, his hands free but his feet shackled, the Associated Press reported. He said only, "Yes, ma'am" when he was asked whether he understood that he would be going back to Washington to face the charge.

Law enforcement agents have been investigating whether Ortega-Hernandez — accused of firing at least two bullets at the White House — acted out of hatred for Obama. President Obama, who is on a trip to the Asia-Pacific region, was not at the White House at the time of the shooting.

Officials said a man clad in black pulled his car within view of the White House on Friday night and fired shots from an assault rifle, cracking a window of the first family's living quarters. Soon after, U.S. Park Police found an abandoned vehicle with an assault rifle inside it, near a bridge leading out of the nation's capital to Virginia. The car led investigators to Ortega.

The FBI took custody of Ortega's car Thursday afternoon to continue the process of reviewing evidence, said Lindsay Godwin, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Washington field office. The Secret Service reported that one bullet struck an upstairs window on the south side of the White House — the residential portion — but was stopped by bulletproof glass. Another bullet struck the exterior of the building, though the service has not said exactly where.

Authorities are investigating Ortega-Hernandez's mental health and said there are indications he believed attacking the White House was part of a personal mission from God, according to a law enforcement official who spoke with the Associated Press. There are also indications the suspect had become obsessed with Obama and the White House, according to two officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

Gunfire was reported at around 9 p.m. Friday near the White House, the Secret Service said. The sound of the shots came from south of the White House, around the intersection of 16th Street and Constitution Avenue, about 700 to 800 yards from the White House.

Later that night, authorities reported a nearby abandoned car and an AK-47 rifle.

Obama was in California at the time of the shooting before traveling to Hawaii and Australia.

On Wednesday, law enforcement officials could be seen taking a photo of a window on the upper floor on the south side of the White House.

Ortega-Hernandez did not resist arrest, said Pennsylvania State Trooper Lt. Brad Shields.

He was reported missing Oct. 31 by his family.

On Friday morning, Ortega-Hernandez was stopped by police in a Washington suburb after officers were called for a report of a suspicious person.

Police took photos of him but had no reason to arrest him, police Lt. Joe Kantor said.
Ortega-Hernandez has an arrest record in three states but has not been linked to any radical organizations, U.S. Park Police said.

Hugh, you forgot this:

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez of Idaho Falls, Idaho, made his first court appearance before a federal magistrate in Pittsburgh on Thursday, one day after he was arrested at a western Pennsylvania hotel. He will be taken from the federal court in Pittsburgh to face the charges in Washington.

Frank Church was a Democratic Senator from Idaho.

Church had a Committee.

Early on, critics such as Bing Crosby and Paul Harvey accused the committee of treasonous activity.
The 1975 assassination of Richard Welch, a CIA station chief in Greece, intensified the public backlash against its mission.

Why assassinate Obama? Seriously.

He's not "The Problem," just one cog in its machine.

(And if it weren't "Obama" current kissing the puckered bum of Wall Street, hundreds of other proven ass-kissers are already lined-up to take over, or to apply.)

Malkin responded that "there is now conflicting testimony or evidence of whether he was in the Occupy D.C. camp, but apparently, reportedly, allegedly there is somebody within that movement who has confirmed that he was there at the camps." Malkin later noted that "the guy was just completely off his rocker and had nothing to do with any coherent sense of political ideology." But during the segment, onscreen text continued to tie Ortega-Hernandez to the Occupy D.C. movement

Since the real agenda here seems to be to link this "lone nut" would-be "assassin" to the Occupy movement, FOX is probably eager to drop its mask long-enough help push it.

Man who shot at White House gets 25 years
March 31, 2014 by Scott McCabe

Image
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez

An Idaho man who pleaded guilty to firing a semi-automatic weapon at the White House was sentenced to 25 years in prison for terrorism and weapons offensives.

Twenty-three-year-old Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez admitted to firing at least eight rounds at the White House in November 2011. No one was injured, but U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen Jr. said the bullets narrowly missed the Secret Service officers guarding the White House.

Prosecutors were seeking the maximum, 27 1/2 years.

“This man drove cross-country to launch an assault rifle attack on the White House from Constitution Avenue,” Machen said. “He was motivated by hatred for the president and the desire to start a revolution against the government.”

Federal agents said Ortega-Hernandez had become increasingly agitated with the federal government and was convinced that authorities were conspiring against him.

He espoused numerous theories regarding how the federal government was seeking to control Americans through Global Positioning System chips, fluoride, and aspartame. He also criticized the federal government for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, claiming that the United States was “bullying” other countries to obtain oil.

He made numerous statements vilifying the President of the United States, calling him “the devil” and “the anti-Christ,” among other things. On numerous occasions, he told friends and associates that “he was on a mission from God to take out Obama.”

Ortega-Hernandez purchased a Romanian Cugir SA semi-automatic (AK-47-style) assault rifle from an individual in Idaho for $550. He also purchased more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition to use with the weapon.

Ortega-Hernandez made two short videos at the home of one of his friends. In the videos, he praised Osama bin Laden for having the courage to stand up to the United States, and called for a revolution against the federal government. Ortega-Hernandez described himself as a “cold-hearted warrior of God” and declared, “it’s time for Armageddon.”

Ortega-Hernandez drove his black 1998 Honda Accord between the White House and the Washington Monument, and fired a semiautomatic rifle through the passenger window, authorities said.

Bullets struck the south side of the executive mansion, police said. A bullet hole was discovered in a window on the Truman Balcony, which looks into the heart of the first familys living quarters. The president and first lady were not home at the time.

Ortega-Hernandez sped away and drove the car onto the lawn of the United States Institute of Peace near the ramp of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, police said. He failed to restart the car, then fled on foot.

Less than 24 hours after Gonzalez's arrest, a second man was apprehended after he drove up to a White House gate and refused to leave, the Secret Service said, prompting bomb technicians in full gear to search the vehicle as agents shut down nearby streets.
