Several people reported shot at Sikh temple in Wisconsin
By NBC News

Updated at 1:51 p.m. ET: At least four people were shot Sunday morning at a Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee, local media reported.

Witnesses told NBC station WTMJ of Milwaukee that at least one gunman opened fire inside the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, south of Milwaukee along Lake Michigan. The shooting happened shortly after 10 a.m., about 90 minutes before Sunday services were to begin.

At least four victims were seen covered on the ground outside the temple. The temple's president was among those shot, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.

Sukhwindar Nagr, of Racine, said he called his brother-in-law's phone and a priest at the temple answered, The Associated Press reported. Nagr said the priest told him that his brother-in-law had been shot, along with three priests. Nagr said the priest also said women and children were hiding in closets at the temple.

A temple committee member, Ven Boba Ri, told the Journal-Sentinel that people inside the temple described the shooter was a white male in his 30s.

"We have no idea," he said of the motive. "It's pretty much a hate crime. It's not an insider."

Ri told the Journal-Sentinel the gunman walked up to a priest who was standing outside the temple and shot him. Then he went inside and started shooting.

Two victims were treated at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

More than a dozen ambulances responded to the scene.

Oak Creek police, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies responded, the Journal-Sentinel reported.

Authorities closed roads and set up a staging area near the temple, WTMJ reported.

Up to 30 injured in Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting

Up to 30 people were injured Sunday during a shooting at a Sikh temple in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where two shooters could still be inside holding children as hostages, local media reports said.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel pointed to reports that the head priest of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek was locked inside a restroom with a cell phone.

It said about 50 people were at another temple in nearby Brookfield for a morning service and many went outside after learning of the shooting in Oak Creek.

The president of the temple was among those shot, according to the newspaper, adding that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were among the law enforcement officers who had responded at the scene.

A police dispatcher earlier told AFP that several people had been shot, but could not confirm how many people were injured or whether any one had been killed.

Strikingly, Muslims have not been the only targets of Islamophobic violence. A number of different American communities have been impacted by Islamophobia, and practitioners of the Sikh religion make up one of the most adversely affected minority groups. The distinctive physical appearance of typical Sikh males in particular — brown skin, turban, beard — correlates with the stereotypical images of terrorists projected in western media. Scholars have recently described this perceived relationship as a racialization of religious identity. This process has led to a conflation of Sikhs and Muslims, and therefore, has produced a corollary to Islamophobia — Sikhophobia.

alright, everyone needs to report to their local psychological assessment center, persons harboring such potential for violence will get the help they need.

We can't just sit around waiting for these wingnuts to go off.

this is being called 'domestic terrorism' instead of lone nuttery.

Wis. police say shootings at Sikh temple treated as domestic terrorism, FBI to investigate

OAK CREEK, Wis. — Police in Wisconsin say the FBI will handle the investigation of shootings at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee.
Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards says the case is being treated as a domestic terrorism case and the FBI is better equipped to handle that.

Far-right fascist terrorists are exactly the type to avoid anything even remotely resembling mental health assessment. I could profile all the live-long day, but that's what many leftists do already, and it's not exactly helpful. See the "when it comes time to round up the Progressives" discussion.

No, but...

Initial reports said a witness to the shooting told law enforcement agents that the shooter was of a heavy build, bald white male wearing a sleeveless T-shirt.

...who probably thought he was killing Muslims.

Or their local geography classroom. If you're planning a racist killing rampage, you should at least do the background legwork.

Elfismiles, you said you were talking to Loren Coleman? He seems like some interesting stuff about patterns and synchronicities in these massacres, the role of the media, the "copycat effect," he calls it. Interview he did recently on Red Ice Radio:
http://www.redicecreations.com/radio/20 ... 120801.php

What were you talking to him about? I notice he says he actually predicted the Aurora shooting.

ahh, but you see, that's part of the assessment right there, and people that come in and "fail" a multispectral series of tests can be given Oxytocin supplants, medical weed cards, and monthly checks from the government.

from rawstory from WISN and Journal Sentinel
apt block in the town of Cudahy
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “Shortly after 5 p.m., neighbors said a team of law enforcement officers, including from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, had entered a home in Cudahy. Authorities have blocked off several streets surrounding the house.”

The WISN reporters state that there is a “huge police presence” surrounding the duplex in the Cudahy neighborhood and that about 200 residents have been told to leave.
"According to a helicopter news crew, what appeared to be a bomb-sniffing dog was led around the perimeter of a house on Holmes Avenue as police attempted to determine how to enter. At 6:20 local time, an armored assault vehicle had arrived along with trailers full of equipment."
