^^^Thanks for these PufPuf; they are beautiful! (And addresses my question about the carcasses.)

The insects are attracted as to flowers but find themselves entrapped and dissolved.

Also, more pictures and fascinating info. on 12 carnivorous plants:

One interesting fact about the Venus flytrap: To cut down on false alarms from falling leaves and pieces of debris, this plant's traps will snap shut only if an insect touches two different interior hairs in the course of 20 seconds.

Nature is so cool.

The carnivorous plants at the link are beautiful but also so specialized and exacting where they thrive to be most at risk from climate change and extinction event. One aspect about the Darlingtonia is that the "pitchers" that attract the insects are not the flowers but modified leaves and the flowers are separate. The item about Darlingtonia at the link you provided about the various plants says that scientists do not know the actual insect that does pollenate the Darlingtonia. I did not know that. Now finishing their prime time of flowers bloom, their ecological niche on biological fire with many flowers and insects, the dragonflies so primeval, and where small associated ponds, there are waterdog salamanders mating.

When saw you post, reaction was must post Darlingtonia pictures now.
