Can we please have a backup of the board if possible?
For one thing, I've had it with a bunch of the people here who have learned nothing in all these years, and I have no niceness left. I'm probably going to get banned soon. A little mob is already fucking with my every post.
...So my concern is about archiving and searchability and all.
For example, how come Hugh Manatee Wins is not on this list of all-time top posters?
http://www.rigorousintuition.ca/board2/ ... memberlist
Banning, even when it's the right move (it had to happen with HMW, I believe, sadly) still shouldn't mean erasing the member a la 1984, right?
So here's my possibly final request of mods and admins:
Can we have a back up of the system that's suitable for mirroring on other machines? Is that possible? Drew? Who knows how this work?
Thanks!

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Re: So if I get banned, now that this mob is after me...
I was very disturbed to find that there is no member called Hugh Manatee Wins!!
Seriously, WTF? RI practice has *never* been to erase members posts who were banned.
Where have Hugh's nearly 10,000 posts gone?
I last looked at them last year - there was a mini-gold mine of nuggets in the midst of all the poop.
And JR FFS stop having a fit that there is a torchlite mob after you for daring to tell the truth
FWIW, I dont know *anyone* on RI who wants you to leave, including me. Take a fekkin chill pill.
I'm pissed about WR, the Snowden fiasco, Solace's ADLshite, and Im pissed about being pissed!

His posts are not gone, he's just not on that list. Still, it's mildly unsettling.
On advance search, put the username in, you get 9883 HMW posts over 659 pages of search results:

Thanks for that
I think what you are suggesting is A.VERY.GOOD.IDEA.INDEED and curiously, this has been a REALLY nagging thought in my mind over the last few weeks.
I have seen a board with probably tens of thousands of research hours lost because no one did this and the Board owner botched a migration and had no backup.

Guys and gals shit is hard enough in real life as it is. Please let us preserve what at least what we remember of the board. I give this dump probably at most five months at this rate. Seriously. We're getting nowhere fast.

I think what is needed is concerted attention from Jeff Wells and if he is not prepared to do that (and I see no evidence he is), then I agree 82_28, but I think five months is pushing it - I'm thinking more like five weeks.82_28 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 2:03 am wrote:Guys and gals shit is hard enough in real life as it is. Maybe we should look at designing a way forward instead of waking up one day and finding the plug has been pulled.

What? Yes. Back all of it up.
I don't want to lose all of the hard work and vast info that all of youse have provided.
Of course it could go on...and I'd say it *should* go on...there's a lot of shit coming our way. It's far better to be among friends to stand with.

I requested this a while ago. Would still want.

Re: Can we please have a backup of the board if possible?
There are backups. IIRC, HMW account was not just banned but deleted (tho his posts were not) that is why he doesn't show in the list of top users.
An archive of the forum can be prepared and made portable.
I do not think we're in any danger of the plug being pulled by surprise.
Sorry I've been rather distracted lately, what's everybody so angsty about?

Just the usual stuff since the birth of this board about how it's not what it was in the magic days before it even existed because either the woo-peddling rabble or the materialist bastards have prevailed, all the good people have left, someone quit, someone must be blamed, someone must threaten to quit but never quite do so, someone's feeling persecuted, my whine can top your whine, you're all mean and worthless people, you called me an agent - no you called me an agent, your intuition is handicapped by misaligned chakras and you've lost your old rigorous edge, you're all sheeple helping the globalist plot, ego is vanity, soon no one will be left and it's all your fault, I had a dream wherein the great Jeff returns and pulls the plug to cleanse the unbelievers, the Jeff will never return because it's just a myth for little children, who are you calling a little child, etc.justdrew » Sun Jan 26, 2014 1:04 am wrote:Sorry I've been rather distracted lately, what's everybody so angsty about?

And when someone asks what's going down, someone's hand is always the first to go up and say "Sir, nothing Sir, Just the same as it ever was"JackRiddler » Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:24 pm wrote:Just the usual stuff since the birth of this board about how it's not what it was in the magic days before it even existed because either the woo-peddling rabble or the materialist bastards have prevailed, all the good people have left, someone quit, someone must be blamed, someone must threaten to quit but never quite do so, someone's feeling persecuted, my whine can top your whine, you're all mean and worthless people, you called me an agent - no you called me an agent, your intuition is handicapped by misaligned chakras and you've lost your old rigorous edge, you're all sheeple helping the globalist plot, ego is vanity, soon no one will be left and it's all your fault, I had a dream wherein the great Jeff returns and pulls the plug to cleanse the unbelievers, the Jeff will never return because it's just a myth for little children, who are you calling a little child, etc.justdrew » Sun Jan 26, 2014 1:04 am wrote:Sorry I've been rather distracted lately, what's everybody so angsty about?
except this time there is another hand that goes up and says
"Horseshit, Sir. There are real issues that need addressing - and whiny framing it as 'R.I. - same old, same old' is uncreative, disempowering, deeply conservative, intellectually lazy and the last thing needed right now"

On various boards I have been on, every now and again tensions have built up to an extent where a rift of some sort occurs.JackRiddler » Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:24 pm wrote:Just the usual stuff since the birth of this board about how it's not what it was in the magic days before it even existed because either the woo-peddling rabble or the materialist bastards have prevailed, all the good people have left, someone quit, someone must be blamed, someone must threaten to quit but never quite do so, someone's feeling persecuted, my whine can top your whine, you're all mean and worthless people, you called me an agent - no you called me an agent, your intuition is handicapped by misaligned chakras and you've lost your old rigorous edge, you're all sheeple helping the globalist plot, ego is vanity, soon no one will be left and it's all your fault, I had a dream wherein the great Jeff returns and pulls the plug to cleanse the unbelievers, the Jeff will never return because it's just a myth for little children, who are you calling a little child, etc.justdrew » Sun Jan 26, 2014 1:04 am wrote:Sorry I've been rather distracted lately, what's everybody so angsty about?
This has become predictable enough to be a subject in itself, at which point I usually suggest this and receive lukewarm responses due to this subject being almost 'invisible' to even very intelligent folks.
A very brief analysis of this might be that these tensions build up to an unexpected degree (relative to meatspace) because we have not yet learned how to co-exist in cyberspace. The trouble is that we think and act like we have, but in reality mostly use the same old learned habits derived from meatspace.... This doesn't work, things don't get resolved.
Your description above sounds similar to what happens on other forums. I have heard it said that RI is different and special, but as far as I can see, this is a fairly thin veneer.

The angels find no path on which to strew flowers; the heretics, secretly spying, find nothing to see.
Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.
