It is happening... again. Twin Peaks, that is.

That gum you like is coming back in style.

I have to say I'm disproportionately excited about this news.

Nine new episodes, directed by David Lynch himself. I have no doubt he has demanded and gotten full creative control and final cut as a condition of his involvement.

Thank you, Mr. Lynch. I literally cannot wait!

^Col., do you mean around as in alive, or around here? I think I read that funny. ;)

I never saw the original series, but there it is on Netflix, so maybe I'll catch up.

It was revolutionary for its time, a very weird prime-time TV series that dabbled in murder mystery, humor, drama, and high weirdness - sometimes all in one episode.

Yeah, what he said, Willow. Watch it, you'll have no regrets. Oddest fuckin' TV show I've ever seen.
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.

It goes a bit flat during the second season but the final episode is utterly amazing.. The follow-up film Fire Walk With Me is excellent (Lynch's best imo) but considerably darker and less charming. I saw the film first which made watching the show an interesting experience, but I'd recommend seeing the film after watching most of the show...

Around the time ABC saw success from the show another network, maybe NBC, did their own "weird" show Wild Palms produced by Oliver Stone and starring the ever avante garde Jim Bellushi.. Pretty interesting with it's riffs on Scientology, cybernetics, hallucinogens, and secret societies, but doesn't even come close to TP in terms of atmosphere and surreal themes.

I always enjoy a good look into another person's (very different) mind. Twin Peaks was like a mild nightmare that one could dip in and out of - in a waking state. Unusual... and brilliant.

So it occurs to me that the viral stealth marketing campaign for the release of the Twin Peaks blue ray likely has served as stealth test-marketing for the return of the show. Seems bloody obvious now but it hadn't occurred to me previously.

I'm still psyched, this is some of the only good news I've had in a long long time.

And Willow ... beware, TP could very well be triggering to some. There is a particular murder scene in a later season that still shocks the heck outta me - can't believe they ran it on network tv back in the day.

And also highly recommend Fire Walk With Me but as has been stated, it is MUCH darker than the tv series which plays a lot off the goof factor.

It was full of occult and UFO references. The ever watching owls were a touch hair raising, I thought.
Abdul, wax the beach with postal regret portions. Nevermind the o-ring leader he got not the cheese duster from the dachshund dimension or even pillow frighteners.
