I've been on a kick lately waxing nostalgic about the desktop publishing revolution and the 1990s zine scene - particularly its relevance to the rise of alternative media; especially that media focused upon para-culture. The reasons for this reflection will be made public very soon but in the meantime I figured we might find a master thread for this topic might prove useful.

As Mark Twain, noted American humourist declared in 1897, “The reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.” The same could be said of print newspapers in 2013.
