Yes, long overdue and needed. A thankless job, with I imagine often probably no end in sight. They really keep this place together, though, and that has to take a toll. As illustration, here is a time lapse of Wombacticus's tenure as mod:

Wait

guys hold up

wait a second...

I just realized, I'd hate to have to put down being the moderator of an internet forum like this on my taxes this April. The IRS might poke their noses into my business. Investigate me for political reasons then hassle me and audit me.

But then it occurred to me that Wombat won't have to report this to the IRS because he does it WITHOUT COMPENSATION.

That's right, SANS SALARE!

He must really like this job to be putting in all of these hours here, sorting out personal arguments, without getting payment or profit. His are the wages of communal love. His redress is intangible rather than material.

Here's to you my friend, may you spend a great many more years collecting an ethereal stipend.

Cheers & thank you.

(Taxes have been quite a pain in the ass so far this year, but it is a good pain, because I've been more industrious than ever and have a lot of freelance side income to account for.)

I hope you're an employee of an LLC, rather then operating as a DBA. One benefit comes from the 2 for 1 employer contribution to the employee's retirement plan, deductible from the corp's bottom line, so I was told.

I'll try to watch my tongue...er, fingers from this point forward. I curse like a drunken sailor. I'd spend like one too, but I'm broke.

I think we are due for another Moderator Appreciation Day. This is a thankless job. But he does it anyway....He could quit being the Sheriff you know. If he does, we might be fucked. He does a damn good job. We take him for granted. He could say "fuck it" and disappear at any moment. We take that for granted and we should not.
