@aaronjmate

As Israel resumed its attack on Gaza today, @SecBlinken's "motorcade sped out of his hotel in Israel on its way to the Tel Aviv airport... Asked onboard his plane, Blinken declined to comment."

Reminds me of when Ford and Kissinger visited Indonesia in December 1975 and gave the green light for an invasion of East Timor. Right after they left the following day, Indonesia invaded and began a genocide.

@aaronjmate

Using US bombs, the genocidal Israeli army has destroyed every university in Gaza. Its civilians have no refuge.

Is there anything more embarrassing than coddled Ivy League students, backed by both political parties and the establishment media, pretending to be victims?

@SystemUpdate_

Yesterday, the House adopted Resolution 894, officially stating their view that anti-Zionism is antisemitism.

@GGreenwald: "In what *possible* world is that the role of the US Congress—to dictate to Americans which political views are racist & bigoted?"

Which lobbyists exert more influence over our US political misleaders, the Israeli lobbyists or the Big Pharma lobbyists?

I would have to come down on the side of Israeli lobbyists.

blackmail > bribes?

This can go in several threads here, covering the topic of covid, suppression of thought/speech, totalitarianism, 'Left'/'Liberal' [and 'Rightwing'] Groupthink, and Israel/Palestine. All in 2 comments:

@cliftonaduncan

Who could've predicted that people who gleefully dehumanized and scapegoated a minority in the name of public health would also be cool with antagonizing Jews?

...

@montreal_girl
·
It's strange how those once dehumanized for being unvaccinated are now blaming those who care about Gaza's civilians. That a concern for Palestinians got entangled with 'decolonization theory' seems to forbid us from opposing a genocide backed by our government.

The progressive theory of the state is incoherent

During Covid, progressives claimed that the state was the good guy — benevolent, wise, nimble, essential, life saving.

They particularly loved the Israeli state under Netanyahu because he forced the greatest compliance of all.

Now that Israel is engaged in killing thousands of Palestinians in Gaza progressives claim that the state is the bad guy — cruel, fascistic, murderous, genocidal, insane. They see the U.S., that is supplying the weapons, in much the same way.

The problem is, it’s the same damn state. The state didn’t suddenly wake up one day and go from benevolent to cruel. It was always fascistic. Progressives just looked the other way during Covid because they worship Pharma.

Gaza Poet, Writer, Refaat Alareer Killed In Targeted Strike With 6 Family Members; Had Angered Bari Weiss, Max Blumenthal Accuses Weiss Of "Inspiring" Death Threats And IDF Targeting

Beloved Palestinian writer, poet, and teacher Refaat Alareer, founder of the Gaza based organization “We Are Not Numbers,” has been killed in an Israeli airstrike along with six members of his family. He was known for his lifelong devotion to encouraging story telling and writing, including the book Gaza Writes Back, featuring writing from young Palestinians.

According to the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, Alareer had gotten direct death threats from an Israeli officer, knew he was a target, and had re-located to his sister’s home, and killed there by a surgical strike.

Max Blumenthal wrote a blistering account, here:

And here is his tribute to Akareer, published in The Grayzone.

[As for mockery, (see Blumenthal’s Tweet,) there have been waves of Tik Tok trends with Israelis, including children, grotesquely mocking Palestinians, so let’s BE FAIR.]

There had been many calls for Alareer’s death, according to his friend and one time student, interviewed here, and the BBC, in its headline about his murder, icily called him “controversial.”

In his last interview, he spoke very openly about the near certainty of being killed. “There is no way out,” he said.

Fresh testimony reveals how Israel killed captives in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7

Hadas Dagan is the sole survivor of Israeli shelling of a house in Be’eri where 14 hostages were killed.. She has withheld her testimony, until now.

Dagan describes how she and her husband woke up to red alerts as the Hamas attack began. Soon after, Yasmin Porat and her partner, Tal Katz, knocked on their door, seeking shelter.

As the grave situation became apparent, the two couples huddled in the Dagan’s’ safe room. After a struggle to prevent their entry, al-Qassam fighters eventually broke the door down, taking the two couples captives and bringing them into the house of their neighbor, Pessi Cohen, where they joined several other residents of the kibbutz.

The Al-Qassam militants then used Suheib Abu Amer, a Palestinian bus driver from occupied East Jerusalem who they also took by force from the Nova rave, to translate between them and their hostages, and informed them that they intended to bring them as captives to Gaza, but that they would be taken to the Erez checkpoint between Israel and Gaza, and would be returned home by the following evening.

Porat suggested to the Al-Qassam unit commander, identified only as “Hasan”, that she speak by phone with Israeli police to negotiate. Once on the phone with a police woman, Hasan insisted on speaking via translator with her, informing her that they have 50 hostages that they intend to take into Gaza, and unless guaranteed safe passage, they would be killed.

‘I’ll never forget the children’s screams”

At 4pm, Porat says, Israeli military jeeps arrived on the scene. Within minutes, they opened fire on the house full of both captives and their captors, all of whom were still alive at the time.

“Bullets enter the house in every possible way. And suddenly something heavy, perhaps a mortar, made a big boom in all of the house,” Porat recalled.

Among those killed by Israeli military fire were the Hetzroni twins. Dagan describes the horrors of hearing their final moments of sheer terror.

“I’ll never forget the children’s screams, how they scream for help,” she recalled.

“The girl did not stop screaming all those hours. She didn’t stop screaming,” Porat said in a previous interview, as reported by the Electronic Intifada. “Yasmin, when those two shells hit, she stopped screaming. There was silence then.”

After a thirty-minute gun battle between Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants inside the house, the al-Qassam commander Hasan, using Suheib Abu Amer to translate, managed to negotiate his surrender, stripping to his socks and underwear and taking Porat as a human shield.

As he walked outside, carrying Porat, he was forced to strip completely naked.

After police seized him and Porat, Hasan was blindfolded, left naked, and had his hands tied behind his back. Israeli soldiers instructed the humiliated commander to tell the remaining militants inside the house to surrender, which they did not agree to.

With the rest of the militants unwilling to follow the captive commander’s orders, Israeli soldiers resumed shooting and firing more LAU missiles at the house. At that point, Hadas and Adi Dagan noticed that two neighbors, Ze’ev Hacker and Pessi Cohen, had been killed.

‘If you fire shells, won’t they hit hostages?’

As the sun began to set and light disappeared, an Israeli tank rumbled onto the scene.

Porat was alarmed by the thought of such firepower being applied to a hostage situation.

“If you fire shells, won’t they hit hostages?” she asked a soldier.

“No, we’re just hitting the sides to take down walls”, she recalls him responding.

However, Porat describes a fierce and deadly battle that would kill everyone inside the house.

“Insane exchanges of fire that I don’t know how someone can possibly survive such a thing,” she commented.

‘A disgrace’

At 7pm, the battle reached its peak.

One of the soldiers commented to Brigadier General Barak Hiram, the commander leading the operation, that what was happening was a “disgrace.”

“I know,” Hiram concurred.

Minutes later, the tank fired two shells at the house, one at the floor and one at the roof.

While it’s unclear what the soldier and brigadier general thought was a disgrace – whether being forced to negotiate with Hamas or opening fire on a house full of captives – the fact that they shelled the house with a tank afterwards suggests the former.

Israeli shelling kills Adi Dagan

As tank shells continued to hit the house, Dagan found herself covered in blood, and saw that her husband, Adi, had been fatally wounded by the shelling, and her attempts to stop the bleeding were futile.

“There is no point in trying to block the blood flow anymore, and I simply hug him again with my face, my hair, all inside a huge pool of blood,” she recalled. “I remember hearing one more shot from inside the house, and I don’t hear anything anymore.”

At that point, Israeli soldiers entered the house, finding Dagan wounded from tank shrapnel and covered with blood. As she begged them to tend to her dying husband, they put her in a truck, where Porat found her. Dagan told her that her own husband, Adi, was dead, but declined to inform her that her own husband, Tal, was among the dead too.

Caitlin Johnstone: All The Zionist Propaganda Is Splattering Against A Solid Wall Of Reality

What we are seeing with Gaza is manufactured narrative splatting against the reality of raw video footage over and over again.

Humans inhabit two very different worlds simultaneously: the real world and the narrative world. The world of concrete material reality, and the world of mental stories about reality.

There’s the material reality of presents piled under the Christmas tree, and then there’s the story parents tell small children about how those presents got there. There’s the material reality of military explosives ripping human bodies to shreds, and then there’s the story the powerful tell the world about how and why that’s happening.

What we are seeing with Gaza is manufactured narrative splatting against reality over and over again. The western empire churns out propaganda narratives about what Israel is doing, and those narratives are crashing headlong into raw video footage and concrete facts in ways you don’t often see.

Here are some examples of made-up narratives:

• October 7 was an unprovoked attack

• This a war of defense and Israel has a right to defend itself

• Jewish people can’t be safe unless they have a homeland in which they receive preferential treatment over other ethnic groups

• There cannot be peace until Hamas is eliminated

• All civilian casualties are the fault of Hamas

Here are some examples of objective reality:

• Raw video footage of civilians who’ve been burned, mutilated and ripped apart by Israeli military explosives

• Photos of dead children who’ve been killed in Israeli airstrikes

• The objective fact that journalists are being killed at a historically unprecedented rate in this onslaught

• The objective fact that children are being killed at a much higher rate than in other modern conflicts

• The objective fact that Israel is laying siege to a civilian population while systematically displacing them en masse and destroying their healthcare system

The former category consists entirely of insubstantial thought fluff; they’re stories people made up to advance their own agendas, and have no objective reality in and of themselves. The latter category consists of the concrete realities of the material world.

Relatively few people are fully aware of just how extensively mental narrative dominates human consciousness, and how this has allowed human civilization to be dominated by whoever can control what our society’s dominant narratives are. The US-centralized empire, of which Israel is a part, has succeeded in establishing a system of narrative control whose sophistication and efficacy has no parallel or precedent.

But in Gaza it isn’t working. It isn’t working because there’s no amount of propaganda spin you can put on raw data that is self-evidently unacceptable and inexcusable. No matter how much propaganda spin you heap on top of a video of a dismembered child, you cannot persuade me that it is fine and acceptable.

This is a very, very big problem for the empire. There is panic happening behind the scenes. What’s happening in Gaza is unspeakably horrific, and Israel’s atrocities must end immediately. But if there’s any silver lining in all this horror, it’s that people are being snapped out of the imperial propaganda matrix like never before.

Yes, the "WOT" still marches on... as shown by examples Johnstone above, and as our long absentee Host Mr Wells has recently retorted on the realness of Monsters:

https://nitter.net/JeffWellsRigInt/stat ... 09315415#m

And I am just as aghast at the idea of the normalization of torture as I was in 02. And again in 08 when, "If the President (Bush) deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person’s child, there is no law that can stop him? John Yoo publicly argued there is no law that could prevent the President from ordering it done."

https://www.politico.com/story/2009/01/ ... yoo-018063

The horrific entropy continues, despite having been forgotten by most. And as they say, to "Bring it on home".

Portland man: I was tortured in UAE for refusing to become an FBI informant
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/mar/16/portland-man-tortured-uae-behest-of-fbi

What does this have to do with Palestine, Gaza, Israel? My question is, what doesn't. Yes, "US-centralized empire, of which Israel is a part, of." From Congress to Pentagon to Defense Industry . . . the old double play. The money flows by the hundreds of billions, keeping industry busy, keeping materiel flowing, keeping campaign coffers full, keeping jobs going in every single Congressional District in the nation. This sacred bastion of money and power behind the American government and American nation is the true shadow government. No American President will ever be permitted to shut it down. As another has said, The war in Gaza has nothing to do with Gaza. It has only to do with war. Any war. Anywhere. Any reason at all will do. Anything to keep the Whirligig machine moving both night and day, forevermore, Amen. Anything to entrance and capture and focus, even if it means WWIII or IV or whichever ...

Maybe there is no other way.
