I truly feel for Sinead, because her pain has been so obvious and so public. I hope what she says about her family not caring is not really the case.

Sinead O'Connor Missing, Possibly 'Suicidal'

Sinead O'Connor has gone missing, and police have reason to believe she's at risk of suicide.

The singer went out on a bicycle ride Sunday around 1 PM in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, and has not been seen since. Someone called cops to report she hadn't returned from the bike ride ... and officers are now searching for her.

According to an alert sent out by cops ... O'Connor is being classified as "missing suicidal." She was last seen on a Raleigh motorized bicycle with a pink basket. She's not exactly in typical cycling gear -- black parka, black leather pants and a sweatshirt with "Ireland" on the back.

She got medical treatment back in November after leaving an angry suicidal note for her family.

Cops are on the hunt for Sinead O'Connor after someone in her family told cops she's threatening to kill herself.

Chicago PD got a call from Irish authorities saying Sinead contacted her family an hour ago and said she was suicidal and planned to jump off a bridge in the Chicago area.

We're told cops actually spotted someone who looked like she fit the profile but it wasn't Sinead.

TMZ obtained scanner audio from the PD giving officers the heads up. We're told there's not an active search ... but cops were told to be on the lookout.

Sinead's been struggling with depression lately -- just last month she was reported missing and her friends and family feared suicide -- she was later found at a Chicago hotel.

Sinead O'Connor appears to be alive and well – and as passionate about politics as ever.

The 49-year-old singer shot down claims that she was suicidal in a Facebook post on Friday while celebrating Britain's decision to leave the European Union.

The post comes hours after Chicago police received a call from police in Ireland, saying that the singer was in the Windy City and threatening suicide. "Sinead O'Connor called and said 'I'm on a bridge in Chicago and I'm going to jump," Irish authorities reportedly told Chicago police, asking the department to keep a watchful eye.

"It's bull---t I jumped off a bridge," O'Connor wrote. "Some stupid b---- up at Swords Garda station [an Irish police station] decided she'd like to throw a bit of false and malicious gossip about is all."

"AM FAR TOO F-----G HAPPY FOR THAT," she continued.

O'Connor's happiness appears to be motivated by Britain's history-making vote on Thursday – nicknamed "Brexit."

"IRELAND IS OFFICIALLY NO LONGER OWNED BY BRITAIN!!!!" the Irish-born singer said. "CONGRATS TO EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD WHO EVER DIED FOR THE CAUSE OF IRISH FREEDOM, AND ALSO TO ALL THOSE INCLUDING MYSELF, WHO HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED MERCILESSLY BY THE IRISH SO CALLED FREE-STATE FOR HAVING DECLARED SUPPORT FOR SINN FÉIN AND THE REPUBLICAN MOVEMENT."

"OUR DAY HAS COME!!!!!!!"

The Sinn Féin political party is known for their plight of national self-determination. O'Connor's post also included support for Irish republican politician and president of Sinn Féin, Garard Adams.

The celebrations for O'Connor continued in another post, in which she honored the feast day of St John the Baptist.

I've had a problem with how she's publicly blamed/shamed her children, but her pain is truly heartbreaking.

The singer was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003, but she later said she had been misdiagnosed and actually suffered from depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ​(PTSD).

I can't help but think that PTSD is probably experienced by many diagnosed as ‘bipolar’ (The old diagnosis, ‘manic-depressive’, is a better descriptive term, imho.)

I love Sinead O'Conner for her sincerity, her crystalline voice and her contribution to keeping Irish music alive.

I seem to remember that she had been in juvenile detention and had a hard and most-likely abuse-filled childhood. Perhaps her talent and the success that came from it kept her busy and allowed her to sweep her abuse trauma under the rug but now it's surfacing. I wish her well and sincerely hope that she finds the right tools and support to heal and continue to flourish, make music and possibly contribute to the discussion around healing from trauma and abuse.
