Nah, it was Jeb! And he was also going to Lose! but would have had all the Koch and Adelson swag raining for him.

Enjoy the ruling class out of touch, at least that far. But what the fuck do I know? In Greece last summer I was telling some French guy who's probably doing the Nuits today that the Republican primary would come down to Jeb! vs. the Randster as the "anti-establishment" guy. Which is funny, since I actually know WWF and Trump's running a WWF campaign. (Sorry, it's still WWF to me.)

That's not how I see it. I'm not saying you're wrong but I want to share what I see.

What I watched was a bunch of new money get washed while the actual "ruling class" chuckled about it. This was a pretty unprecedented campaign fitness landscape, we watched a billion dollars get ported directly into the pockets of NYC media, DC consultants, Silicon Valley, and, of course, lawyers. It was a Dumb Money Massacre.

It's WWE for sure, but it's more like a bunch of rich marks making actual bets on Wrestlemania. What you're really betting on is the writing room, and money doesn't buy you access to that.

There's a lot of new money in America right now, and they're not being welcomed as members of the ruling elite: they're being treated like the food source they are. There's no fucking room in the clubhouse until someone dies.

she has stepped in right where she wanted to be.....and there are countless republicans tearing up their republican club card to vote for her....if she is nominated that's who will end up electing her

but that won't stop the crazies from holding hearings..maybe impeach her...unless she can hold out until 2018 when they can be voted out

They also made every republican candidate vow on stage, on tv, in the first debate, to support the Republican nominee regardless of who it would be. Trump was the only one who refused. He later took the pledge, sort of, but every other contender in the field swore then to support the party nominee, effectively (it seems) swearing to support Trump.

I am actually upset that Sanders is being ignored. You'll see that refrain elsewhere obviously. But Clinton VS Trump is now a shoe in for the media. Sanders is just an aside. He will win OR and CA and then break off. But Jesus, trump is treating this as a downgrade. He cannot be allowed anywhere near the presidency if we are to take this fucking country seriously any more.

Indeed. Marketing experts called it social proof in. Because we learn by what others are doing we often appropriate trends fashioned for a given purpose by someone else as our own. We receive validation, we feel accepted by the group, we even feel entitled. Very often it doesn't occur to us to think a thing is possible until someone else says it or does it.

Isn't that how Bush won the Florida count in the 2000 election? Fox News said he had, and so he did. Enough noise, enough reaction, simply, enough preparedness for what Fox did and they couldn't have gotten away with it. Then came 9/11 and on it went.

Benghazi!

Right on the money, Mr. WRex. Succinct!

Not sure I would have used the WWF, but it's apt. I know Jack had earlier, and prompted the analogue, but I agree with you both.

Kinda like the Hillary pic.

Exactly. One of the most insidious things that the media does is they "tell us what we think". And most people, even savvy people, believe it.

But even that is a lie. A big one.

All this can still be true and yet it is about factional games for minor gains. It is still also true that the Clubhouse -- the management of the Empire, the Power Elite, the Global Lizard Society, or whatever you want to call them -- have suffered serious losses over the last 20 years in terms of their social coherence as a class, their understanding of how to run the show, their level of general education and culture, their consensus ethos, their group self-awareness; and thus, in short, their ability to stay on top of chaotic developments of which a con-man capturing the Republican Party itself for a season is a strong indicator but minor among their problems. It's a long decline from Augustus to Caligula, if you will. And you know what's funny? Barack Hussein Obama may go down as the last mandarin with any big-picture horse-sense.
