I like how everyone is suckling Dylan 's dick. What if he isn't the Guru, you think he is... I say kill him on the road. I'd say as much for leonard cohen

Ooo, you're so iconoclastic. I don't think he's a guru, he's just a hella writer.

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Pretty ugly to call for the killing of a person just for making poetry and music. That's really what both Dylan & Cohen have devoted themselves to, by and large. Much more so than many more socially active/conscious artists.

I wouldn't advocate even the killing of Trump, Dubya, Saddam Hussein, Mussolini, Hitler or Osama bin Laden for that matter.

I got a letter on a lonesome day
It was from her ship a-sailin’
Saying I don’t know when I’ll be comin’ back again
It depends on how I’m a-feelin’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1KxthvX1Ms

Oh, I’m sailin’ away my own true love
I’m sailin’ away in the morning
Is there something I can send you from across the sea
From the place that I’ll be landing?

No, there’s nothin’ you can send me, my own true love
There’s nothin’ I wish to be ownin’
Just carry yourself back to me unspoiled
From across that lonesome ocean

Oh, but I just thought you might want something fine
Made of silver or of golden
Either from the mountains of Madrid
Or from the coast of Barcelona

Oh, but if I had the stars from the darkest night
And the diamonds from the deepest ocean
I’d forsake them all for your sweet kiss
For that’s all I’m wishin’ to be ownin’

That I might be gone a long time
And it’s only that I’m askin’
Is there something I can send you to remember me by
To make your time more easy passin’

Oh, how can, how can you ask me again
It only brings me sorrow
The same thing I want from you today
I would want again tomorrow

I got a letter on a lonesome day
It was from her ship a-sailin’
Saying I don’t know when I’ll be comin’ back again
It depends on how I’m a-feelin’

Well, if you, my love, must think that-a-way
I’m sure your mind is roamin’
I’m sure your heart is not with me
But with the country to where you’re goin’

So take heed, take heed of the western wind
Take heed of the stormy weather
And yes, there’s something you can send back to me
Spanish boots of Spanish leather

not Dylan ....just appropriate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2e9wWFg-pI

It's a mighty mean and a dreadful sorrow
It's crossed the evil line today
Well, how can you ask about tomorrow
We ain't got one word to say

.........

just to be on the run

I can actually see now how you could be so angry so much lately. :) I guess I'm still trying to see things here through rose-tinted glasses.

Solace, that would be good.

thank you for using the word angry....in earlier versions of the state of my mind were characterized as.....man hating....delusional....hysterical.....hyperventilating.... meltdown.....worried about my well being.....faux excuses why I am in such a state...off your meds....get a grip...as we all know a woman off her meds is a real problem

can't a RI woman just be fucking pissed off? :P

Literature?

Yup. Love Dylan for the tunes, but fuck all if Tarantula didn't make my eyes bleed trying to read it.

But then Obama won the Noble Prize for Peace.

For Peace!

But then...

Did you read Chronicles? I bet that wouldn't make your eyes bleed. I'm not saying it justifies the Nobel but it's a very good book.

I did, and yes it was a good book. Very, shall I say almost un-Dylanesque, in its directness and openness. Especially about fame and his stage fright, etc. But as far as musical autobios I wouldn't say it blew the doors off my mind. Now, Beneath the Underdog, though, well I'm still trying to find matching doors for my mind after reading that.

I like angry. (And even rage, which has saved me from physical harm, at least once.)

Solace too. Not mutually exclusive, imho

Thanks for reminding me about the book I want to read by Sheldon Kopp If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him.

Joan Baez's song, (released just after 'Blood on The Tracks') about Dylan, 'Diamonds & Rust'..........."you burst on the scene, already a legend..."

I think it's important to always question 'The Legend'.

‘Ill-conceived nostalgia’: Bob Dylan’s Nobel Prize win met with shock, anger

"The decision to award American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize for literature has been met with shock, condemnation and criticism from authors who feel he is undeserving of the accolade.

Dylan was named as the prize winner in Stockholm on Thursday (Friday AEST) for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.

The announcement by the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, Sara Danius, elicited jeers, laughter and gasps of shock from the crowd.

Ms Danius said while the decision “had not been difficult” she hoped it wouldn’t be criticised too harshly."
