Damn! If he had lived just a little longer he would have seen his wish come true.

But I guess he'll be watching from the spirit world. :lovehearts:

thank you so much I had just posted about it in the other thread but this does deserve it's own thread

and I will be there maybe we can meet up?
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

While I have been very active in protest of local issues - fracking, LP gas storage, clean lake water -
I have not participated in a National protest since Earth Day 1990 (1991,1992?).
I am compelled to participate in this one. I owe it to myself, I owe it to the women in my life.
I couldn't possibly do it on my own, but I am lucky to be in the middle of a group of socially strong,
active women.
I also live very near Seneca Falls - so I imagine there will be a large contingent from my area going.
And considering who we just elected, what better issue to start with?

But the point I want to make is, hmmm, lets see...

It took the election of a potential tyrant to help me feel empowered.
Like now I can make a difference on a larger scale, like my voice will be heard.
I hope this empowerment is contagious, as I lazily expressed in the current protest thread,
and that it ultimately solidifies into actual change.

It took a fascist to give me hope.

This March should have happened before the election.
To support Clinton.
Who would have been the first woman president.
If more woman voted for her.
And if less woman voted for Trump.
Who demeans and assaults women with no regrets.
And is now the first openly and unapologetic misogynistic president.
This March should have happened before the election.
To support Clinton.
Who would have been the first woman president.

.

"First Woman President" -- to continue and likely EXPAND on the acts against humanity perpetrated by the current administration. So all the negative aspects of the Obama administration are OK IF it means the next president is a FEMALE, because "HISTORY" and all that? Is that it?

Remember the "First Black President" thing 8 years ago? So where are we now after 8 years of a "black" president? What NET POSITIVE came of it -- how distinct was it from any other "public servant" acting at the behest of the empire? Civil Liberties/privacy rights continued to erode; invasions and bombings continued along with millions of lives lost overseas... the wealthy accumulated more wealth at the EXPENSE of the working classes...

But he was our FIRST Black President! And we were so close to a FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT! Such a shame, huh? Shame the empire hasn't pacified a swath of the voting public with a representation of "change".

There are far more important issues worth fighting for above and beyond FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT.

Let's strive for a WOMAN as an authentic representative of The People rather than one with the physical characteristics of WOMAN but the ACTIONS of the current status quo.

I hear you BH. I haven't felt so energized and yes, happy, in ages. Overnight everyone around me, not just my activist friends but my workaholic, focused on themselves, no time for anything but work and leisure activities are suddenly "We have to mobilize. We're in a new era..." etc.

I love it!

Mario Savio on the operation of the machine

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhFvZRT7Ds0

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!"

Dude are you really still equating Trump and Clinton as the same? Trump wants to punish women for getting abortions, do you think if Clinton was elected, women would be fearing that and marching with signs saying their uterus is theirs? Do you think if Clinton was elected president they would be fearing that her election would be an endorsement for grope culture and the rich and famous being able to grab pussies, and assault women, because "they can"? Do you think female media commentators would be afraid of challenging Clinton because she would degrade them and elude to them bleeding out of their vaginas? Do you think gays would be worried that gay marriage could go away? Do you think if Clinton was elected president citizens of color and with recent immigration backgrounds would be fearing deportation, harassment and violence? And on and on and on. If you think Trump is going to maintain the status quo of race, gender, labor, environment, foreign policy, etc as under Obama and Clinton then you need to talk to some more people. I know you got a hard on for The EMPIRE and nothing compares to "Never-Never-Bernie-Land", but even if Clinton would have bought us 4 or 8 more years of putting off a Nero then I am down with that. Your going to look back at Obama's presidency as the golden age my friend. And not because it was, but because what is coming is going to be so much worse.

My black friends feel/felt? represented and a part of society in a way they have never felt before.
That's no small thing. A net positive they feel may be crushed.

For my bwc friends that went away after the first four years. Which is why they didn't vote this time. Barack watched the rise of the fascistards and did exactly nothing. The DNC incompetence and inability to adjust to the antiestablishment sentiment is more evidence of how out of touch with reality the liberals have become. You get what you pay for.

I find your lack of doom troubling.

The Nazi's have rolled into Paris and everyone in "the resistance" is suddenly so merry and gay that their lives will have meaning and now they can mobilize!
Too little, too late.
"The Resistance" either didn't do enough to stop the fuehrer or actively or passively elected the fool.
The only thing progressives will learn under Trump now is how to suffer.
Only martyrs are happy right now.

Democracies can only protect themselves from tyrants by not electing them as their leaders.
The populace has made Trump our dungeon master and he is going to step us all through his game under our rules.
The nazi's passed evil and inhumane "laws".
When you protest or resist laws, you are a criminal.
The US has the largest prison system in the world.
Do you think it is going to get smaller or bigger in the next four years?

Welcome to the machine.
But see you at the rally!
Send me a selfie!

Sure, I'll grant that.

It was illusory, however. Obama may be considered "black" technically -- just as Hillary is technically a woman -- but they both represent interests that are to the detriment of those that may identify with either of them based on color or sex.

They should rightly be insulted by the 'pacifying via optics' tactic.
