(CNN)Donald Trump called WikiLeaks "disgraceful" and suggested there be a "death penalty" for their actions during a 2010 interview.
Speaking on camera to preview Brian Kilmeade's radio show, the Fox News anchor brought up the topic of WikiLeaks. At the time, WikiLeaks had published hundreds of thousands of classified documents and videos that were leaked to the organization by Pfc. Chelsea Manning, known at the time as Pfc. Bradley Manning.
"I think it's disgraceful, I think there should be like death penalty or something," Trump said during the quick exchange uncovered online by CNN's KFile.
His 2010 comments are in sharp contrast to his decision Wednesday morning to invoke WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who claimed in a new Fox News interview that the Russian government was not the source of the hacks during the presidential campaign.
Following the interview, Trump tweeted: "Julian Assange said 'a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta' - why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!"
The president-elect has repeatedly questioned the U.S. intelligence community's assessment that Russia was the source of the hacks, which took place during the 2016 presidential campaign and targeted Hillary Clinton's campaign chair John Podesta and the Democratic National Committee. During the campaign, Trump cited information released by WikiLeaks to attack Clinton and the DNC.
A Trump transition team spokesperson did not return a request to comment on the record for this story.

Appearing on AM Joy an expert on Russian policy said that Russian President Vladimir Putin gambled on an erratic Donald Trump becoming president and will soon turn on him because he’s is no longer useful.
According to Nina Khrushcheva, who teaches at the New School and is the director of the Russia Project at the World Policy Institute, the relationship between Putin and President Trump hasn’t so much deteriorated as much as Putin is “pragmatically” moving on.
“Where do you see this relationship going?” Reid asked. “It feels like it’s deteriorating or perhaps destined to deteriorate. What do you make of it?”
“Well, I actually never thought that it’s going to go anywhere,” Khrushcheva parried, “In fact, I actually wrote last summer that Putin is a pragmatic politician. He cannot possibly not think that the disaster of Donald Trump is going to work wonders for him. He could have hoped, he thought he could manipulate it, he used it for as long as he could have. But now the reality, as I said, has kicked in.”
Addressing the recent meeting between Putin and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson where Tillerson was unable to set up a meeting between Trump and the Russian president, Khrushcheva indicated that this was a sure sign of where the relationship is headed.
“As much as the Russians want to have a relationship with the United States, they are clearly understanding that the longer that meeting doesn’t happen, the more Putin would actually return to his own devices,” Khrushcheva explained. “And that is a big, big danger.”
“Very quickly,” Reid interrupted. “The fear that a lot of Americans have is the sort of underlying undercurrent, that there is some retaliation that regime might use because it might have something on Donald Trump.”
“I’m certain,” Khrushcheva responded. “Because Putin, I keep saying on this show, he is an equal opportunity offender. If he had Hillary Clinton — then he certainly would have something on Trump and they will be very willing to act on it in an act of cyber-war, as Malcolm Nance always reminds me. That would be very dangerous and then can really can turn this relationship into the stage it is in.”
“Yeah, absolute chaos.” Reid added.

In 3 months, Trump has Charged into 4 Mideast Wars, to no Avail

In his less than three months in office, Donald Trump has escalated four wars, and all of his escalations have been failures.
To be fair, Trump inherited all 4 wars from Barack Obama– Afghanistan, Iraq v. ISIL, Leftist Kurds v ISIL in Syria, and targeting support and tactical advice to Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
Trump campaigned on reducing such foreign entanglements and focusing on the US and its needs. But in office he has declined to rethink any of these commitments and indeed has escalated in each theater.
Trump’s first escalation was in Yemen, in late January. He sent in a team of navy Seals to attack an alleged al-Qaeda compound. But the man he was targeting had switched sides and was supporting the Yemeni government. The raid produced no useful intelligence and the target disappeared. A navy Seal was killed along with some 30 civilians, including children. The raid did not further the Saudi war aim of defeating the Houthi militia– it was aimed at al-Qaeda in Yemen, which has taken advantage of the Saudi intervention to grab territory.
In Iraq in late March, once Trump came in, the restrictive rules of operation for the military insisted on by Obama were loosened by the US miltitary. A bombing by a US aircraft caused the collapse of a civilian apartment complex, killing at least 200 innocent civilians.
In Syria’s Northeastern Front, Trump doubled the number of US special ops troops embeded with the leftist Kurdish militia, the YPG. These forces are intended to attack ISIL in its Syrian capital, Raqqa, but despite promises by Trump, no such concerted new campaign has begun. Then when it appeared last week that the Syrian regime used poison gas in its struggle against the al-Qaeda affiliate and its allies in the Northwestern Front at Idlib, Trump dropped 59 Tomahawk missiles on a small airbase. No significant damage was done and Syria was flying missions again the next day.
On Thursday, Trump hit with an 11 ton bomb some caves in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, said to be being used by Taliban rebels who had joined ISIL. The US has lost 1/3 of Afghanistan to fundamentalist rebels, mostly Taliban, in a 16-year war that is going worse now than than at any time since spring, 2002. There is no prospect of defeating guerrillas with air power, no matter how massive. The US carpet-bombed Vietnam and still lost. The desperation of the Trump administration is demonstrated by the use of old Saddam Hussein hyperbole, calling the missile ‘The Mother of all Bombs.’ Trump is actually translating his propaganda directly from Dictator Arabic! Saddam had called the Gulf War ‘the Mother of all Battles’ (Umm al-Ma’arik), though this was a literal press translation. The phrase means the ‘essence of all battles.’ Saddam’s hyperbole did not serve him well.
What all four Trump interventions in his ongoing US wars in the Middle East have in common is that they were splashy, produced headlines for a day, and altered the course of the conflict not a jot or a tittle.
Trump is gradually inducting his Four Wars into his Reality-Show universe, where everything is done for ratings and just for show.

FinCEN Fines Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort $10 Million for Significant and Long Standing Anti-Money Laundering Violations

WASHINGTON, DC – The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) today imposed a $10 million civil money penalty against Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort (Trump Taj Mahal), for willful and repeated violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). In addition to the civil money penalty, the casino is required to conduct periodic external audits to examine its anti-money laundering (AML) BSA compliance program and provide those audit reports to FinCEN and the casino’s Board of Directors.
Trump Taj Mahal, a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, admitted to several willful BSA violations, including violations of AML program requirements, reporting obligations, and recordkeeping requirements. Trump Taj Mahal has a long history of prior, repeated BSA violations cited by examiners dating back to 2003. Additionally, in 1998, FinCEN assessed a $477,700 civil money penalty against Trump Taj Mahal for currency transaction reporting violations.
"Trump Taj Mahal received many warnings about its deficiencies," said FinCEN Director Jennifer Shasky Calvery. "Like all casinos in this country, Trump Taj Mahal has a duty to help protect our financial system from being exploited by criminals, terrorists, and other bad actors. Far from meeting these expectations, poor compliance practices, over many years, left the casino and our financial system unacceptably exposed."
Trump Taj Mahal admitted that it failed to implement and maintain an effective AML program; failed to report suspicious transactions; failed to properly file required currency transaction reports; and failed to keep appropriate records as required by the BSA. Notably, Trump Taj Mahal had ample notice of these deficiencies as many of the violations from 2012 and 2010 were discovered in previous examinations.
Director Shasky Calvery expressed her appreciation to the Internal Revenue Service, Small Business/Self-Employed Division, which performed the examinations of Trump Taj Mahal, for their contributions to the investigation and for their strong partnership with FinCEN. She also thanked the Commercial Litigation Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice for their assistance with this enforcement action.
Trump Taj Mahal petitioned for bankruptcy in September 2014. That bankruptcy remains pending. The Bankruptcy Court approved of Trump Taj Mahal’s settlement on March 4, 2015.
FinCEN seeks to protect the U.S. financial system from being exploited by illicit actors. Its efforts are focused on compromised financial institutions; third-party money launderers; transnational organized crime; terrorist and other security threats; significant fraud; and threats to cyber security. FinCEN has a broad array of enforcement authorities to target both domestic and foreign actors affecting the U.S. financial system.

Did it work? Were you distracted? By “the mother of all bombs” (MOAB, which actually stands for Massive Ordnance Air Blast, which is no less juvenile) the thoroughly grotesque, $16-million, 11-ton monster of doom our very own orange monster of doom sort of maybe allowed to have dropped on ISIS caves, killing a few dozen Islamic fighters (at a cost of, oh, about $450,000 per) and creating hundreds more in instantly raging counter-recruitment?
It was, as breathlessly reported just about everywhere, “the largest non-nuclear device ever dropped by American forces,” which sounds impressive, but actually isn’t, considering its absurd expense and near-complete ineffectiveness at actually changing anything – but mostly considering how the bomb will ultimately fail its primary task – eliminating the endless delights of #RussiaGate, AKA the imminent impeachment gift that keeps on giving.
Be not distracted. Not by Trump’s spitwad-grade understanding of military and foreign policy, nor any other of his acts of buffoonery and moral violence of the week – like China’s president forced to school our imbecile-in-chief on basic North Korean relations, or Trump’s complete reversal on the value of NATO, or his signing of a vicious law – in secret, of course – allowing states to completely defund Planned Parenthood, because women are very important to the president the way a bird is important to a shotgun.
Death also comes in bright shiny orange, not just the pallid, sickly shade of POTUS
Be hereby advised: Neither Trump’s vicious incompetence nor his macho, phallic posturing are any sort of match for what’s coming in the Russia investigation, as evidenced by the endlessly gathering storm-clouds of intel constantly swirling, surging, quieting down for an hour only to leap into view all over again, much to the orange goblin’s dismay.

Or this one, from Esquire’s Charles Piece – “Carter Page feels like a warning shot” – referencing a very dramatic leak about one of Trump’s slimiest advisers (which is saying a lot), as expertly reported by the Washington Post, that maybe isn’t really a leak, and is more like a very specific bit of foreshadowing:
But more significant to me, anyway, is the fact that all of this leaked—the warrant and the specific individual against whom it was filed. This just doesn’t happen. This can’t be anything but a warning shot from the intelligence community. We know, and you know we know, so how about you watch your step for a while?
And that’s just the recent fragments. All these hot-buttons of evidence, and they are everywhere and they are legion, they continue to feel like fast-closing net.
How fast? How much longer will it take until the evidence is sufficiently overwhelming? A month? A year? Can we survive that long? No way to tell. Soon, is all the world really wants.
And what will happen then? Will it simply result in the alternative nightmare of President Pence, still quite evil but most definitely the lesser of two evils? Or will Trump’s imminent collapse drag his troll army down with him, and devastate the already unstable, wildly unpopular GOP infrastructure? Have you placed your bets in Vegas?
Let us withhold excessive prognosticating. One thing we’ve learned: Unhinged is the new MO, volatility is the new normal, and this administration, with its nasty, rules-crushing GOP in bloody tow, is capable of just about anything – more giant bombs? War with Syria? Nuclear showdown with North Korea? – to try and distract you, me, the MSM, the FBI and world intel agencies from the obvious truth everyone already knows: that the president is a strange, deeply grotesque Russian mole who loathes the world and can barely locate Russia on a map. Let us pray.
