"Billionaire" isn't a qualification. It's the description of a person who is hoarding more resources than they could use in 100 lifetimes while other people are starving. It's the name for a human dragon sleeping on its pile of rubies and gold.

I keep trying to square Schultz’s “bring us together” message with his “disagreeing with me is treason” message and my brain keeps sparking like one of those Star Trek computers stumped by a logic problem.

SECOND WOMAN ALLEGES SEXUAL ASSAULT

As second woman accuses him of sexual assault, Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax vows to stay in office

By GRAHAM MOOMAW Richmond Times-Dispatch Feb 8, 2019

A second woman came forward Friday to accuse Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault, alleging Fairfax attacked her in 2000 while they were students at Duke University, a claim Fairfax called “demonstrably false.”

Virginia Democrats’ support for Fairfax swiftly collapsed Friday night, as most key backers called on him to resign, including the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, Sen. Tim Kaine and most Democrats in the state’s congressional delegation. A Democrat in the House of Delegates said he would introduce articles of impeachment if Fairfax didn’t step down by Monday.

The second accusation comes seven days since the start of a series of scandals now engulfing Virginia’s top three leaders — Gov. Ralph Northam, Fairfax and Attorney General Mark Herring.

An attorney for Meredith Watson released a statement accusing Fairfax of a “premeditated and aggressive” rape that Watson told her friends about in emails and Facebook messages. “Additionally, we have statements from former classmates corroborating that Ms. Watson immediately told friends that Mr. Fairfax had raped her,” the statement said. Fairfax and Watson were friends but never dated or had a romantic relationship, according to the statement.

The attorney said Watson came forward after learning of the similar allegation leveled against Fairfax by Vanessa Tyson, a California professor who has accused Fairfax of sexually assaulting her in a Boston hotel room in 2004.

Watson’s statement said the “details of Ms. Watson’s attack are similar to those described by Dr. Vanessa Tyson.”

“At this time, Ms. Watson is reluctantly coming forward out of a strong sense of civic duty and her belief that those seeking or serving in public office should be of the highest character,” said Nancy Erika Smith, Watson’s attorney.

Fairfax has adamantly denied Tyson’s accusation. In a statement Friday evening, Fairfax called for “a full investigation into these unsubstantiated and false allegations.”

“I will clear my good name and I have nothing to hide. I have passed two full field background checks by the FBI and run for office in two highly contested elections with nothing like this being raised before,” said Fairfax, a 39-year-old former federal prosecutor who was considered a rising star in Democratic politics. “It is obvious that a vicious and coordinated smear campaign is being orchestrated against me. I will not resign.”

Va. Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax renews his denials and asks for an FBI investigation into assault accusations against him

February 9 at 11:27 PM

Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax said Saturday that his encounters with the two women who have accused him of sexual assault were consensual, and he called on authorities — including the FBI — to investigate.

His statement came as calls for his resignation grew from former allies, including the Democratic Party of Virginia, which had reserved judgment until a second woman came forward Friday to say he sexually assaulted her.

This has been a devastating week for my family. It has been an especially devastating time for the great Commonwealth of Virginia,” Fairfax said in a statement Saturday night.

Prosecutors Are Moving to Indict R. Kelly, After the Discovery of Another Videotape

According to a senior law-enforcement official, the tape shows Kelly sexually assaulting an underage girl.

Jim DeRogatis
A videotape from the R. & B. superstar R. Kelly’s past may soon lead to his indictment in Illinois, according to a senior law-enforcement official. The video shows the singer sexually assaulting an underage girl, the official and two other sources familiar with the tape said. Steve Greenberg, a lawyer who represents Kelly, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last month, Greenberg said, of Kelly, in an interview with the Associated Press, “He never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone.”

In 2002, Kelly was indicted, in Illinois, on twenty-one counts of child pornography related to a tape made in late 1998 or early 1999, when Kelly was thirty-two years old. The tape, which ran for twenty-six-minutes and thirty-nine seconds, appeared to show Kelly sexually assaulting a fourteen-year-old girl. He was acquitted of those charges, in 2008.

In early January, Lifetime aired “Surviving R. Kelly,” a six-hour docu-series that brought renewed attention to reports of predatory behavior by the star, dating back decades. Kelly, now fifty-two, has settled four lawsuits brought by women who have been named in public documents. He married his protégée Aaliyah, who was then fifteen years old, in 1994; the illegal marriage was annulled by her parents, six months later. At the same time, Kelly and Aaliyah signed a settlement agreement prohibiting either of them from speaking about the marriage in public. More recently, Kelly was accused of keeping “a cult” of women against their will, and physically and mentally abusing them. (A lawyer representing Kelly suggested that the women who made these recent accusations were “defaming a great artist” and insisted that “Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life.”)

Two weeks ago, the attorney Michael Avenatti tweeted, “Since April, I have been working on the R. Kelly matter. The results of that work will soon be known. We are going to blow this wide open for the sake of each of his victims and one less pedophile will be free. Count on it.” After I contacted him, on Thursday morning, Avenatti tweeted a formal statement, in which he claimed to be representing “multiple clients in connection with allegations of sexual assault of minors” by Kelly. In the statement, Avenatti said that he had given a forty-five-minute videotape, showing “Kelly engaging in multiple sexual assaults of a girl underage,” to the Cook County state’s attorney, Kim Foxx. Avenatti added, “the time frame of sexual assaults depicted in the video is within the Illinois statute of limitations.”

Foxx would not comment, but a law-enforcement official said that an indictment is pending and Kelly could be arrested soon.

The videotape related to Kelly’s previous indictment was first given to me, anonymously, on February 1, 2002, when I was a reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times. The Sun-Times turned it over to police the same day. Prosecutors said that the tape showed Kelly having sex with the niece of a former Kelly protégée, the R. & B. singer Sparkle. The girl was identified by fifteen witnesses for the prosecution, including Sparkle, but the girl and her parents did not testify. The case took six years to go to trial; jurors later said that Kelly was acquitted because the girl and her parents never testified.

Following the initial indictment, there were reports that Kelly had other, similar tapes in his possession. In July, 2002, Kelly was sued by a Kansas City man named Charles Freeman, who alleged that he had been hired by Kelly’s chief private investigator at the time, Jack Palladino, to track down any videotapes related to Kelly that might be “on the streets.” In his lawsuit, Freeman claimed that he had been promised a hundred and forty thousand dollars for his investigation but received only seventy-five thousand.

During Kelly’s trial, in 2008, a witness named Lisa Van Allen testified that she met Kelly on the set of a music video that Kelly shot near her home, in Alpharetta, Georgia, in late 1997, and that she began a sexual relationship with him when she was seventeen—a year over the age of consent in Georgia. Van Allen, who was given immunity from prosecution for her testimony, said that she engaged in sexual encounters with Kelly and the girl seen in the tape that had led to Kelly’s indictment. She further testified that, in 2006, she removed a video of a sexual encounter with Kelly from a duffel bag that he had left on the sidelines of a basketball court at a high-end Chicago gym while he was shooting hoops. According to Van Allen, the bag was full of such tapes. “He carried it everywhere with him. Wherever he was at, the bag would follow,” she said. In an interview on Wednesday, she told me, “I just didn’t want that tape out there.”

The day after Van Allen took the stand, in 2008, Freeman and an associate promised to hold a press conference that would be “big news” and “reveal all.” The press conference never happened. Neither man was called to the stand, and what became of any other videotapes they might have found remained a mystery. Van Allen told me on Wednesday that prosecutors never seemed all that interested in the tape, even though a second video showing Kelly with an underage girl might have led to a conviction. (The girl in the original video has never spoken publicly, nor have her parents, and none of them returned calls on Thursday.)

After Van Allen’s testimony at the trial, Kelly’s manager released a statement through Kelly’s spokesman, in which he insisted that “Lisa Van Allen is an admitted thief and a liar, who wouldn’t know the truth if she tripped over it. If there was any crime committed here, it was her attempt to extort money from R. Kelly.” But Kelly’s camp didn’t say anything about the other alleged tape, and no one has mentioned it since.

Kelly has been indicted on ten counts will be in CHICAGO court tomorrow ....NO BAIL! Then on to New York

Details emerge on Florida sex ring that ensnared Robert Kraft

Robert Kraft

Police announced Thursday that human traffickers lured women to 10 Orlando-area massage parlors, where they were intimidated into prostitution, TCPalm reports. The 6-month investigation culminated in charges against dozens of individuals who solicited the parlors, including New England Patriots' owner Robert Kraft.

Details: The spas were closed down on Tuesday as Vero Beach Police began making arrests. Indian River County agencies issued warrants for 173 people on charges that include human trafficking, racketeering and soliciting prostitution. Thus far, nearly 50 of the 165 accused of paying for sex acts have been arrested.

Six "major players" have been charged in organizing the prostitution ring, according to TCPalm. Two remain at large.
Detectives witnessed an Orlando couple bring multiple women with suitcases into and out of their spas in Sebastian, Winter Park and Orlando, Florida, "for the purpose of sexual servitude," according to an arrest warrant. Police said the victims, many of which came from China on temporary work visas, lived in the spas and weren't permitted to leave freely.

Trump cheered Kraft’s team to Super Bowl victory with founder of spa where he was busted

Caitlin OstroffMarch 02, 2019 1:43 PM
Seated at a round table littered with party favors and the paper-cutout footballs that have become tradition at his annual Super Bowl Watch Party, President Donald Trump cheered the New England Patriots and his longtime friend, team owner Robert Kraft, to victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Feb. 3.

Sometime during the party at Trump’s West Palm Beach country club, the president turned in his chair to look over his right shoulder, smiling for a photo with two women at a table behind him.

The woman who snapped the blurry Super Bowl selfie with the president was Li Yang, 45, a self-made entrepreneur from China who started a chain of Asian day spas in South Florida. Over the years, these establishments — many of which operate under the name Tokyo Day Spas — have gained a reputation for offering sexual services.

Nineteen days after Trump and Yang posed together while rooting for the Patriots, authorities would charge Kraft with soliciting prostitution at a spa in Jupiter that Yang had founded more than a decade earlier.

Yang says she had long since sold Orchids of Asia Day Spa, the massage parlor where authorities say they caught Kraft on camera paying for oral sex the morning of the Jan. 20 AFC Championship game — his second visit in 24 hours. (Kraft has denied breaking the law.) Yang, who goes by Cindy, was not charged in the multi-agency anti-human trafficking operation last month that shut down 10 Asian day spas in Florida, none of which are registered to her or her family.

The Kraft bust brought global attention to the proliferation of Asian day spas across the country, some of which are thinly disguised houses of prostitution — and experts say could be engaged in human trafficking to fill demand.

Yang’s family still owns several South Florida spas. The family’s Tokyo Day Spa branches have attracted the attention of at least two local police agencies over allegations of prostitution, and are discussed online as places where men can pay for sexual extras.

“If you’re just wanting to get a ‘rub and tug,’ this might be one of the best places in West Palm Beach,” one Internet commenter wrote about a Tokyo Day Spas’ parlor. A massage therapist at a different location informed police in late 2016 that some employees at the parlor were selling sex and said management encouraged the behavior.

Cindy Yang poses with President Donald Trump at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago on March 2, 2018. She received a signed photograph. A flyer for the event advertised a “reception, photo and two seats for a dinner with President Trump” for a donation of $50,000.

In a brief phone interview, Yang said she and her family have never broken the law, but did not answer questions about whether she knew of the allegations that therapists in her spas were offering sex. She added that she was out of the business, would soon be moving to Washington, D.C., and didn’t want any negative press.

Before the 2016 general election, Yang offered no evidence of political engagement. She hadn’t voted in 10 years, records showed. But she has now become a fixture at Republican political events up and down the East Coast. Her Facebook is covered in photos of herself standing with President Trump, his two sons, Eric and Donald Jr., Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Rick Scott, Sarah Palin, the president’s campaign manager and an assortment of other high-level Republican operators she has met at charity events, political fundraisers and galas, many of which require hefty donations to attend. She sometimes carries a rhinestone encrusted MAGA clutch purse.

Future Florida governor Ron DeSantis (center) attended a pro-Israel gala at Mar-a-Lago on Feb. 25, 2018. The event was also attended by Cindy Yang (far left). Tickets cost $1,000 per person, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Yang has shown considerable political largesse. Since 2017, she and her close relatives have contributed more than $42,000 to Trump Victory, a political action committee, and more than $16,000 to the president’s campaign.

In February 2018, Yang was invited by the White House to participate in an event hosted by the Asian American and Pacific Islander Initiative, an advisory commission Trump established by executive order the year before. Later in the year, she attended at least two more AAPI events in Washington D.C., according to her Facebook page.

The White House, the Trump campaign and the Trump Organization did not respond to requests for comment.

Hangers-on

As some established political elites have distanced themselves from the president, a new group of people is filling open seats at political events.

Some are businessmen like Kraft who have always been influential because of their wealth but under Trump have gained added political status. (Months before the bust, Trump thanked Kraft for his role in a major international success: Clinching the 2026 World Cup for North America.)

Others in the Trump orbit are political novices like Yang, who came to the United States roughly 20 years ago.

In 2007, Yang started what would become a large chain of Tokyo Day Spas.
Image

Cindy Yang and her family members operate the Tokyo Day Spa & Massages parlor, as well as a nail salon, at a strip mall in Palm Beach Gardens. It is part of a chain of spas the family controls.

Sarah Blaskey sblaskey@MiamiHerald.com

The first to open was her flagship, which is still in business and run by her husband, Zubin Gong, in Palm Beach Gardens.

The next was a Tokyo Day Spa in Jupiter that would later become Orchids of Asia after Yang sold it to another businesswoman, Hua Zhang, around 2013. Zhang, who was charged in February with racketeering and running a house of prostitution and has pleaded not guilty, declined to comment when contacted at her Martin County home.

Online reviews from prior to 2013 suggest sex was for sale at the Tokyo Day Spa Jupiter location even before it became Orchids of Asia. Although the name and ownership of the location have changed, the decor has not. A photo from a Tokyo Day Spa Yelp review shows the same couch, the same wall hanging and the same faux plant as now.

“Used to be known as Tokyo Day Spa and Massage — most of the same girls still work there,” a Yelp reviewer wrote of Orchids of Asia in 2013.

Over the past decade, Yang and her family members have opened at least six locations across Palm Beach and Broward counties, including a massage school established in 2011 and several nail salons. In at least three cases, online classifieds written in Chinese indicate Yang opened the spas and then flipped them, advertising sale prices ranging from $55,000 to $88,000.

Organized networks of massage parlors offering sex are common, according to Bradley Myles, CEO of Polaris Project, a nonprofit dedicated to ending human trafficking in the sex work industry. The parlors have licenses, allowing them operate the illicit part of their businesses behind a smokescreen of legitimacy.

“Having a school associated with several locations that are engaged in illicit massage business — It’s one more way of appearing legitimate,” Miles said, commenting generally rather than specifically on Tokyo Day Spas. He said the owners of such chains often use schools to recruit and groom women to work in their parlors, even giving them the answers to the licensing exams ahead of time if they are good candidates for sex work.

Nationally, the illicit massage industry is worth over $2.5 billion, according to Polaris.

Yang also owns several residential properties around South Florida, including a tiny $240,000 condo on Miami’s waterfront. She built her success on hard work and long hours, according to an online profile of Yang that was posted on dondonsex.com. The site also features classified ads for erotic massage services. It’s unclear who posted Yang’s profile there or why.

Sex for sale

When a female massage therapist started finding used condoms in the trash at one of Yang’s Tokyo Day Spas, she became concerned that the parlor was not what it seemed.

The woman, who spoke only Mandarin, asked an English-speaking relative to call police after she heard the sounds of sex coming from several private massage rooms. Her tip led a police vice squad to begin surveilling the parlor from a van parked outside, the woman told the Miami Herald in an interview. Cops hidden in the vehicle took photographs of the people coming and going. The woman said she went undercover, snapping pictures of receipts when no one was looking. After the trash was taken outside, she would call her relative, who would then ring up the cops.

“There should be some condoms out back,” the relative would report.

The woman, who asked the Herald to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, slept on a massage bed in a back room during her time at the spa. She cooked on a hotplate.

On one occasion, the former therapist was giving a customer a massage when he exposed himself and demanded oral sex. She said she ran from the room crying. A manager was angry that the customer had been treated “badly,” the woman said.

“You cannot hurt the customers’ feelings,” the manager later said at a staff meeting, according to the woman.

No charges appear to have been brought as a result of the investigation. The Herald reviewed documents related to the case but is not naming the police department in order to preserve the woman’s anonymity.

That wasn’t the only Tokyo Day Spa location where sex was allegedly available.

On Feb. 7, 2014, a man called the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. He had gone to Tokyo Day Spas branch in Royal Palm Beach , where a therapist touched him in an “inappropriate genital area” and continued to do so even after he said no, according to a police report.

Six spas within the Tokyo Day Spas chain show up on online forums like rubmaps.com and adultsearch.com, which are crowd-sourced review sites where users point each other to spas where sex is offered.

False positives on those sites are unlikely, according to the Polaris Project.

“I don’t think the guys have any interest in claiming a place was something it’s not,” Myles from Polaris said. “The guys have an interest in [identifying] where you really can buy sex.”

Online ads on obscure websites also raise flags about Yang’s businesses. In an ad written in Chinese recruiting masseuses, Yang stated that anyone over the age of 45 need not apply. Phone numbers associated with members of the Yang family are connected to various apparently old online advertisements for more explicit sex services. One advertises a masseuse who makes hotel visits.

In a 2016 Yelp review of the Tokyo Day Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, a woman wrote that her husband went in for a 15-minute, $40 massage, but was offered unwanted sexual favors instead.

“Stay far away unless you’re into that kind of thing,” she wrote.

In a reply to the review, the business posted an apology from someone identified as “Cindy Y.”

“We are very sorry to hear what happened to your husband,” Cindy Y. wrote. “We do not offer those kinds of service[s] and we will do everything necessary to make sure this does not happen again.”
Image

Cindy Yang appears with Donald Trump Jr at a Mar-a-Lago gala in late 2018.

On rubmaps.com, one comment warns that “your mileage may vary” at Tokyo Day Spas, meaning sex may not be available depending on the therapist.

“Been here many times, some play, some don’t,” a man wrote in 2016.

But others raved.

“I had one of those toe curling experiences,” a reviewer said.

Political awakening

Around three years ago, Yang announced that she was pursuing a “new life” in a series of Facebook posts.

Her portfolio broadened to include an investment consulting business, a travel agency and a charity.

The charity, founded in 2015 under the name Overseas International Female Organization, was originally intended to promote cultural exchanges for women, according to its mission statement. A few months later, the name was changed to Women’s Charity Foundation. The foundation once hosted a beauty pageant at the luxury Biltmore Hotel featuring young women brought in by “entertainment companies,” according to one of the event’s co-sponsors, Li Yun, who told the Miami Herald the event was “embarrassing,” “unsuccessful” and “disorganized.” The nonprofit doesn’t appear in a database of active Florida charities.

At the very end of 2015, Yang began donating small amounts of money to Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign. In 2016, Yang posted Facebook photos from a Republican women’s event in South Florida with the caption: “The new life will start.”

Around that time, she appears to have pulled her name from the official business records related to Tokyo Day Spas, though her husband still manages at least one of the spas and other companies are now under her parents’ names. Recently, one of her businesses, now listed in her mother’s name, declared bankruptcy, listing more than $150,000 of debt.

When Donald Trump became a serious candidate for president, politics began to dominate her social media presence.

In January 2017, she was in the crowd at Trump’s inauguration in Washington D.C. Later that year, she snapped a photo with Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway. In December, she attended her first elite event at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, a poolside steak lunch.

In September 2018, Yang received a personalized note from the president and first lady. It read: “Thank you for your friendship and dedication to our cause. Leaders like you in Florida are the key to fulfilling our bold agenda to Make America Great Again!”

Yang told the Miami Herald she doesn’t know the president personally, and that she doesn’t work for him, other than to volunteer for campaign events.

“I just come to some events. There’s nothing special,” Yang said. Although she has claimed online to be a member of Trump clubs, she told the Herald she does not in fact belong to any.

Yang opened an investment consulting firm in 2017 targeting Chinese businesses hoping to expand to U.S. markets. The website advertises her new political connections, and promises her clients pictures with the president and other high-level members of his administration. Much of its website showcases photographs of her own encounters with the Trump family and other high-profile conservatives.

Cindy Yang posed with Eric Trump at Mar-a-Lago in 2019.
Over the past two years, Yang has racked up a who’s who of photos with politicians at more than a dozen political events. She has enough pictures of the president’s private clubs to fill an album.

In 2018, she attended a Safari Night at Mar-a-Lago hosted by the president’s sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau, as well as the White House’s celebration of the Lunar New Year at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. She took photos with Florida’s soon-to-be-governor, Ron DeSantis, at a pro-Israel gala held at Mar-a-Lago, met U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao in Washington D.C., and posed with Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, U.S. Rep. Brian Mast and former Florida Agriculture Secretary Adam Putnam.

Her Super Bowl selfie with Trump was captioned: “We love our president.”

It’s not clear exactly what level of scrutiny she was subjected to in order to get that close to Trump.

Anyone “expected to be within close proximity to the president for a planned purpose” at Mar-a-Lago must go through an “enhanced background check” by the Secret Service and other federal agencies, according to a January report by the Government Accountability Office.

No one contacted by the Herald said they recognized Yang.

Brad Stewart, deputy chief of staff for Mast, said the Republican congressman “doesn’t know Yang or remember meeting her” at the Palm Beach GOP Lincoln Day Dinner at Mar-a-Lago on March 16, 2018.

Chris Hartline, Rick Scott’s communications director, said the senator had “met literally hundreds of thousands of people over his eight years as governor. He doesn’t know this woman.”

DeSantis’ press office did not respond to a request for comment.

BREAKING: Jupiter Sex Trafficking Madame Attended White House Meetings On Behalf of Trump

By Polipace Staff March 8, 2019

New photos taken from notorious Jupiter Madame, Li “Cindy” Yang is a businesswoman and entrepreneur originally from China. One of those spas was the Orchids of Asia Day Spa, where Patriots owner Robert Kraft got a hand job from a sex slave.

Yang claims she sold the spa years ago, and she has not been charged in connection with Kraft’s arrest yet, but questions about her chain of sex spas has raised a lot of questions — especially when photos were found of her attending confidential White House meetings on Behalf of President Trump.

Additionally experts have noted that often the illegal spas “trade hands” in order to keep tax authorities off guard and hide assets.

Of course, this raises some significant questions about their relationship, and how someone who is connected with sex-trafficking of illegal immigrants, had such access on behalf of the President of the United States.

Whaaat? In yesterday's WaPo, prior to his expected Easter week decision on a 2020 run? Joe Biden touching and kissing! He's just harmlessly tactile!

‘I was shocked’: Nevada Democrat accuses Biden of touching, kissing her without consent

By Michael Brice-Saddler
March 29 at 10:11 PM

A onetime Democratic nominee for Nevada’s lieutenant governor accused former vice president Joe Biden on Friday of touching and kissing her without her consent during her campaign in 2014, an experience she says left her feeling mortified, embarrassed and confused.

In an essay published by The Cut, Lucy Flores wrote that when she learned the then-vice president had offered to appear at a rally in Nevada to support her campaign she was grateful. But that feeling changed, she said, when Biden approached her from behind as she was getting ready to address the crowd.

She wrote that she felt the vice president place two hands on her shoulders before moving closer to her from behind.

Then, she says, Biden kissed her on the back of her head.

He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a Spanish saying, “tragame tierra,” it means, “earth, swallow me whole.” I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience.

As a young Latina, Flores said, she was used to feeling like an “outsider” in a political world dominated by white men — but she had never experienced something so “b Read More

Flores told a few members of her staff what happened, but she said she was initially reluctant to talk to anyone else.

“Is it enough of a transgression if a man touches and kisses you without consent but doesn’t rise to the level of what most people consider sexual assault?” she said. “I did what most women do, and moved on with my life and my work.”

Biden is expected to announce soon whether he will run for president in 2020. A spokesman for Biden on Friday said the former vice president was “pleased” to support Flores in 2014, and neither he nor his staff had “an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.”

“But Vice President Biden believes that Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it is a change for better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so,” the statement read. “He respects Ms. Flores as a strong and independent voice in our politics and wishes her only the best.”

During a March 16 speech in Dover, Del., Biden referred to himself as a “tactile politician.”

“I always have been, and that gets me in trouble as well, because I think I can feel and taste what is going on,” he told the crowd.

Over the years, Biden has been captured in numerous images and videos embracing, kissing and standing close to women. These instances were brushed off by some who saw his actions as “lighthearted,” and Flores lamented that Biden was able to keep his title of “America’s Favorite Uncle” despite myriad publications documenting his actions.

“In this case, it shows a lack of empathy for the women and young girls whose space he is invading, and ignores the power imbalance that exists between Biden and the women he chooses to get cozy with,” she wrote.

Flores’s account comes as Biden faces scrutiny over the way he handled the accusations Anita Hill made against Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearing as a Supreme Court justice.

On Tuesday, at an event honoring those who have worked to combat sexual assault on college campuses, Biden apologized again for his handling of the matter in 1991, when Hill faced accusatory questioning from a panel of white men.

“To this day, I regret I couldn’t come up with a way to get her the kind of hearing she deserved, given the courage she showed by reaching out to us,” Biden said in New York at the Biden Courage Awards. Some pointed out that his use of the word “couldn’t” suggested he didn’t have the power to change the course of the hearing.

Why isn’t Trump rushing to help Puerto Rico’s U.S. citizens? Political payback
Fabiola Santiago

Residents of San Juan’s ‘La Perla’ neighborhood deal with the task of cleaning up after Hurricane Maria.
While President Donald Trump spent the weekend obsessing on Twitter over NFL players exercising their right to free speech, the devastated island of Puerto Rico went without vital U.S. aid.

Trump’s leadership in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria has not only been absent, but in the few instances that Trump has mentioned the U.S. territory, he has delivered only blabber that passes for presidential speech, and has proposed no solutions.

And His trolls have been busy on the internet making it seem as if Trump is a powerhouse of action, passing along fake news that he has sent Navy ships and all kinds of massive aid.

In fact, on Monday, Trump was downright judgmental and victim-blaming.

“Texas & Florida are doing great but Puerto Rico, which was already suffering from broken infrastructure & massive debt, is in deep trouble,” he tweeted.

Why isn’t Trump rushing to help Puerto Rico when there’s so much the U.S. could do to alleviate the suffering?

It’s a matter of generalized American indifference, certainly, as the Weather Channel, for example, was more interested in Hurricane Jose — even though it was way farther from the U.S east coast — than Maria’s direct hit on Puerto Rico. There’s the sour grapes about the Trump-managed golf course on the island that went bankrupt.

But, most likely, the malaise is political payback.

Hillary Clinton carried 72 percent of the Puerto Rican vote, according to polls. The Puerto Ricans in Central Florida, largely Democrats, were supposed to be Clinton’s “secret weapon” to carry the state.

Yes, Maria is Trump’s Katrina.

He’s shown the same level of ineffectiveness as George W. Bush in responding to the devastation of black and poor New Orleans.

Puerto Rico National Guard Soldiers bring supplies to Vieques and Culebra

Puerto Rico National Guard members take food and water to the island municipalities of Vieques and Culebra after Hurricane Maria.

By Sgt. Josue Rivera

The 3.4 million people who live in Puerto Rico are American citizens; they deserve better.

Hurricane Maria caused between $40 billion to $85 billion in insured losses in the Caribbean, 85 percent of that in Puerto Rico, according to the Boston-based catastrophe modeling firm AIR Worldwide.

Imagine what it’s like for the uninsured masses in an island affected by two back-to-back killer hurricanes, first the brush with Irma, then last week the fierce Maria making landfall as a Category 4.

The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, has begged for help, calling Hurricane Maria “the biggest catastrophe in Puerto Rico history.” He warned of a humanitarian crisis unfolding, with 16 people dead and counting, most of the island without power, and essential survival supplies running perilously low.

A week later, the U.S. efforts available to states should have already been on the ground all over the island — but they’re not. Florida Sen. Bill Nelson called on the U.S. military to provide more search-and-rescue teams to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other Democrats asked for more robust measures.

But the only arrivals in Puerto Rico were Homeland Security adviser Tom Bossert and FEMA administrator Brock Long to “assess the situation and … inform the White House about what is needed most,” as if hurricane relief were a mystery.

On Tuesday, finally, the only basic relief getting off the ground was with an Army battalion in Georgia preparing to assist in establishing communications.

There’s no excuse for withholding full-throttle help for even a minute from a place where the water is undrinkable, the food supply is dwindling and the heat is stifling. Puerto Rico isn’t Cuba, where a shameless regime declines U.S. aid.

“The response seems to be very little so far compared to other disasters on the mainland,” agreed Jorge Duany, a Florida International University professor with expertise in both Cuba and Puerto Rico. “There’s a lot of politics behind it.”

Travelers in Puerto Rico face long waits, limited power in terminals after Hurricane Maria

Miami Herald reporter Patricia Mazzei and photojournalist Carl Juste boarded one of the earliest flights out of San Juan flying back to Miami on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017. Mazzei recaps her reporting since Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territor

By Carl Juste

One thing Trump and Congress can do to alleviate the suffering, Duany said, is suspend the outdated 1920 Jones Act, which requires that only American vessels deliver goods to the island; it is economically stifling, doubling prices and delaying services.

Another expert writing in the New York Times calls the Jones Act “a shakedown, a mob protection racket, with Puerto Rico a captive market.”

Indeed, there’s much that Hurricane Maria has exposed.

Nine months into his presidency, President Trump doesn’t get it: He now represents everyone — and that includes Puerto Ricans, on the mainland and on the island.

Perhaps, in the aftermath of Irma and Maria, Puerto Ricans will become climate-change refugees. They’d do well to move to Florida — and exercise their right to vote in a swing state.

Perhaps that’s the only way for Puerto Rico to obtain all that it deserves, instead of the second-class citizen status that comes with being an American colony under Trump.

These Evil Motherfuckers Won't Be Satisfied Until We're All Dead and/or Dumb (Part 2: Dead)
Yeah, Donald Trump, listening to the most savage cockfleas in his inner circle of cockfleas, twatmites, and sphincterworms, wants the Supreme Court to overturn the entire Affordable Care Act, as a discredited decision from a federal court in Texas said should happen. The hitch for Trump is that the same five justices who upheld the ACA last time are still on the court. Remember: Kennedy wanted to overturn it; Roberts upheld all but the Medicare expansion. And the idea that John Roberts would want his legacy as Chief Justice to be that he kicked 20 million people off health insurance and allowed thousands of Americans to die is almost laughable.

Of course, we live in a filthy time when the laughably ludicrous and the unimaginably cruel dance madly with each other until they leap off a cliff and drag the rest of us with them.

The Dumb Orange Motherfucker in the White House couldn't give two jiggles of his jowls about whether or not people die, or even if those dead people come from his base. He wants to destroy one of the few remaining accomplishments of Barack Obama, who dared to be president while black. And Trump despises that nothing he has done and nothing he has ever done or will ever do will be as popular and important as Obamacare is right now. Not his worthless wall, not his fake peace with North Korea, not his debt-driving tax cuts. And not his terrible TV show and shitty buildings and forgotten books. So, fuck it, people must die to prove he can kill them.

Or at least he can tell the idiot hordes that populate his rallies of the damned that he's trying to murder them. Because they are hordes of idiots, they will yawp and roar in approval and chant, "Murder us! Murder us!" Nothing could be better than being murdered by Donald Trump, right, MAGA cretins? If he was chosen by God, then that's like being raptured. Fuckin' morons.

To be vaguely fair, Trump has promised that he's going to have a replacement for the ACA that will be so awesome you won't believe it. An aide to Vice President Mike Pence, who is the human embodiment of feeling constipated, said there will be a GOP health care plan this year, before the expected Supreme Court case, which would likely be decided in mid-2020. Yes, this brain trust is going to do what Republicans haven't been able to do for the last 9 years. Get Jared on it.

Even Mitch McConnell has said, "Yeah, no, fuck this shit" about Trump's stand on the ACA. Although he has promised he will be a total dickhead about Medicare-for-All. So...points for consistency?

Of course, the ACA is the major way that these evil motherfuckers are trying to kill us. In ways large and small and medium, the Trump administration is trying to makes us sick, weak, and dead. Like: what is the rationale for slowing and threatening to cut aid to Puerto Rico, still suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Maria? Fuck 'em and let 'em die.

Check out some of the cuts in the dead-on-arrival 2020 budget the White House put out. In fact, let's just look at the Department of Health and Human Services.

For instance, there's a 12% cut in the Centers for Disease Control, that includes eliminating funding to universities for research and eliminating funding to states for studying climate and health, not to mention programs for alcoholism, glaucoma, and promotion of breastfeeding.

In the Administration for Children and Families, it's a $6.6 billion cut in funding, another 12% reduction from this year. This shit is just pure cruelty. There's a 10% cut in Temporary Assistant for Needy Families in order to "promote self-sufficiency" in, you know, needy families. Perhaps the most insidious cut is $91 million in refugee assistance to "reflect the expectation that fewer refugees and other entrants will enter the U.S. in FY 2020." There it is. We're not even gonna fund for allowing more brown refugees to defile our virginal white America.

Oh, and the budget cuts completely $3.7 billion in Low Income Home Energy Assistance, so, you know, poor, elderly people can die of heat exposure or freeze to death.

Yeah, they're gonna kill a bunch of us, but, man, that wall's gonna be so fuckin' pretty when it's made of our bones.

These Evil Motherfuckers Won't Be Satisfied Until We're All Dumb and/or Dead (Part 1: Dumb)
So the proposed budget for the Department of Education, led by avaricious billionaire and every evil stepmother Betsy DeVos, has a $60 million increase in spending for charter schools. The DOE is doing so despite a growing backlash against the entire charter school movement, as well as real doubts about the effectiveness of charter schools and the constant fraud and mismanagement that has plagued them.

Meanwhile, the DOE has proposed cutting a shit-ton of programs. You've heard about the $17.6 million eliminated funding for Special Olympics Education programs, a number so absurdly low relative to the wave of negative press coverage and growing outrage that you've gotta think that Trump just asked his cabinet to spitball ideas for something really vile and needlessly cruel he could do.

But there is a whole fuck of a lot of good shit on the chopping block, like killing $1.2 billion in after-school and before-school programs that even the DOE admits "provide safe spaces" for kids. Or eliminating the only other need-based grant for college assistance, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant. Another particularly dickish cut is $29 million for Arts in Education, which supports arts initiatives for "students from low-income families and students with disabilities." Oh, and the budget cuts funds meant to hire more teachers because who the fuck needs that, right? We learn everything we need from Trump tweets in this time of the Great Stupiding.

Many of these are dismissed in the budget summary with the blanket statement that a program "has limited impact and funds activities that are more appropriately supported with other Federal, State, local, and private funds." Motherfuckers, if state, local, and private funds could have funded this, no one would have asked the federal government to get involved in the first place. And these are just the eliminated programs. I didn't even mention the cuts to programs for Native American kids, as well as blind and deaf kids.

This doesn't just stick it to the inner cities and all those dark people who won't ever vote for Trump. Red states are gonna get fucked redder by these cuts. For example, programs in Mississippi are gonna get reamed out Deliverance-style. The funds that would allow the state to hire around 700 new teachers? Cut. Services for before and after school for 22,000 kids? Cut. Over $60 million in cuts to just three programs in that state. Go around Red State America. Who's gonna make up the $94 million in cuts to Louisiana? The $150 million in Ohio? The $400 million in Texas? Will Betsy DeVos pitch in? Maybe she can sell one of her ten yachts.

Defending these cuts like an automaton set on "barely-disguised contempt for you goddamn poors," DeVos told a congressional committee that "We had to make some difficult decisions with this budget." Except they made stupid ones. Meanwhile, as pointed out at the hearing, a report showed that over $1 billion was wasted on "charter schools that never opened, or opened and then closed because of mismanagement and other reasons." Oh, yeah, and never forget that Republicans passed and Trump signed a tax cut for rich pricks that comes in at over $2 trillion over 10 years (or, you know, $230 billion a year, on average).

Why do this? Almost none of these things will pass. Many have already been declared dead on arrival Why put out a document that is the political equivalent of sticking one's mushroom dick in a light socket? Cutting Special Olympics has to be on the first page of the "Shit You Don't Do, Even In Case of Emergency" pamphlet they give you when you arrive in DC.

I could come up with all kinds of reasons that presuppose some sort of genuine ideology at work here. I could tell you it's part of the conservative push to make the federal government have no role in the everyday life of everyday Americans (unless you want an abortion). I could try to place this in context with typical GOP budget fuckery, where military spending is always huge, along with tax cuts, and domestic spending is always the target.

But, really, I think the answer is far more mundane and yet far more sinister. They do this shit because they get off on it. They get off on the outrage. It's what rich motherfuckers have always done to the rest of us. They make us dance and they make us scramble for their amusement. And they get away with it because they know nothing can ever really touch them.

There’s a moving story behind this powerful photo of Biden and a sexual assault survivor at the Oscars

Sofie Karasek remembers clearly what was going through her mind as she waited with 51 other sexual assault survivors behind a screen while Lady Gaga sang at the Academy Awards.

Karasek’s thoughts played out during the quiet moment before the screen lifted and she walked into the light. Before she stepped onto the platform to take her spot alongside Lady Gaga’s white piano. Before all the celebrities in the audience were roused to their feet. Before Best Actress winner Brie Larson hugged her and the other survivors as they walked off the stage.

And then, when all was quiet again, Karasek shared those private thoughts with Vice President Biden, who had been waiting backstage to meet them after introducing Lady Gaga’s performance.

Karesek, 22, told the vice president that before she went on stage she had been thinking about all the women and men who weren’t there because they’d taken their own lives after being sexually assaulted. Karasek began to cry, her eyes fixed on the floor, as she told him she hoped the performance would make others feel less alone, that it would save even just one life.

That’s when Biden stooped down, clasped her hands and rested his forehead on hers. He told her that was why her bravery that night had been so important.

“He had a really emotional reaction,” Karasek said in an interview. “I was surprised.”
