This is an older story. I remember hearing about it in the news when it first happened but lately I stumbled across it again. Most likely they got lost and one of them was injured. The 90 photos they took do look like some sort of documentation of their surroundings. But I can't help but think some foul play was involved. One of the articles I read mentioned of the 100 photos on Froon's phone, one was deleted. I suspect a third party deleted it. Maybe they met up with someone during their hike, were forced deeper into the jungle and then ran at some point. One of them fell and of course, got lost.
I don't know. It does look like a tale of lost hikers. I can't imagine how it must of felt to be alone in the dark, getting hungrier, with your friend possibly injured and dying. Truly a sad story.
