Lesson One: Start slowly. To ease yourself in, try ignoring your cat for an hour a day. (If you do not have a cat just practice on a pillow.) In the next lesson we will move on to putting your cat (or pillow) properly "on ignore". This may cause some discomfort at first.
When we reach Lesson 15, we'll start with 3-dimensional humans. It helps if you already have some experience ignoring your wife. Later, when you're comfortable ignoring your children too, we'll move on your colleagues and neighbours and any friends you may still have, and finally to members of Internet discussion boards, the bastards.
