Blue, I just saw this and don't even recall how much we've interacted but there's nothing insignifcant about it, at all. The connections with animals we save/discover/stumble on to become their friends have been among the most important in my own life. I lost my dog of 15 years last fall and when I flash on his face now, it's like remembering my grandfather. I'm sure your friend understood, in some way. Sending you a belated heart's full of warmth and empathy.
