Khamenei orders direct strike on Israel, NYT says
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has ordered a strike on Israel in response to the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, says The New York Times, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, the order was issued Wednesday morning.
It also noted that Khamenei gave instructions "to prepare plans for both an attack and a defense in the event that the war expands and Israel or the United States strike Iran."

WARNING: Intelligence indicators from Iran are they will launch hundreds of Ballistic missiles and drones at Israel. Larger strike than in April.
Iran, Hezbollah, Iraqi militias and Yemen will likely want to saturate the air defense and draw blood for HAMAS.
US forces from the Roosevelt and Wasp battle go up may enter direct combat with Iran if it goes poorly. Be warned.

Biden orders new US ‘defensive’ military assets deployed amid Iran, Hezbollah threats
The US military will deploy new “defensive assets” in the Middle East after Iran and Hezbollah vowed to retaliate against Israel and “those who are behind” it for the assassination of two top officials in the Lebanese militant group and Hamas, President Joe Biden said Thursday.
“The President disc]ussed efforts to support Israel’s defense against threats, including against ballistic missiles and drones, to include new defensive US military deployments,” the White House said in a readout of his c
Israel Working with US and UK as Retaliatory Strike from Iran Looms
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said in a statement Friday that he spoke with his American and British counterparts, Lloyd Austin and John Healey, and provided “a situational assessment in light of recent security developments.”
This time, Iran’s response may be more fierce, given the embarrassment of having a foreign dignitary and top ally assassinated in the heart of its capital. Among its options are another direct assault on Israel, stepped-up attacks by its proxies in the region or hitting Israeli targets elsewhere
Israel has stopped short of confirming it was behind killing Haniyeh, but it hasn’t pushed back against the claim either. His death also came hours after Israel killed a top Hezbollah commander in Beirut, Fuad Shukr.
Austin, who earlier this week reiterated that the U.S. “certainly will help defend Israel” if attacked, spoke with Gallant and is weighing moves to reinforce America’s presence in the region, the Pentagon said Friday. White House spokesman John Kirby said earlier in a CNN interview that the Pentagon is ensuring it has “the right resources and capabilities” in the region, including both equipment and personnel.

Report: Israel could preemptively strike Iran if intelligence shows attack is imminent
Israel would consider launching a preemptive strike to deter Iran if it uncovered airtight evidence that Tehran was preparing to mount an attack, Hebrew media reported after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened Israel’s security chiefs for a meeting on Sunday evening.
The meeting, attended by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi, Mossad head David Barnea and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, was held amid preparations for anticipated attacks on Israel by Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah.
The assessment that Iran is likely to attack Israel in the coming days or weeks follows last week’s back-to-back assassinations of Hezbollah military chief Fuad Shukr in Beirut and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Iran has blamed Israel for Haniyeh’s death and has vowed to retaliate.

Democrats sign US-made bombs for Ukraine; Republicans sign US-made bombs for Israel. Both sides, except sometimes at the margins, join forces to pay for these bombs, and back the Biden admin as it undermines all diplomatic alternatives.
It’s almost as if — and hear me out here — both of these US-fueled regional wars are part of the exact same US hegemonic agenda. And that therefore, anyone cheerleading either war is a partisan dupe.

Anyone who has been calling for a ceasefire in the North is wrong. There is no going back for Israel. They cannot afford now to not finish the job and completely dismantle the arsenal that has been aimed at them. They will never get another chance.
After the brilliant, rapid-fire tactical successes of the pagers, radios, and targeting of leadership, Hezbollah’s massive weapon cache is unguarded and unmanned. Most of Hezbollah fighters are hiding in their tunnels. Anyone still around was not important enough to carry a pager or be invited to a leadership meeting. Iran is reeling, as well, insecure and unsure how deeply its own intelligence has been penetrated. Failing to take full advantage of this opportunity to neutralize the threat is irresponsible.

The right move now for America would be to tell Israel to finish the job. It’s long overdue. And it’s not only Israel’s fight.
More than 40 years ago, Hezbollah killed 241 US military personnel, including 220 Marines. That remains the single deadliest day for the U.S. Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima. Later that same day, Hezbollah killed 58 French paratroopers.
And now, over the past six weeks or so, Israel has eliminated as many terrorists on the US list of wanted terrorists as the US has done in the last 20 years. Including Ibrahim Aqil, the leader of Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad Organization who masterminded the 1983 killing of those Marines.
