I can't let this wait because it's on so soon!

Here’s a thing you’ll only see once, Friends: me, strongly encouraging you to turn your TV on. This show is only scheduled to air twice more. I saw it in June.

August 21, 8pm Eastern time, The Learning Channel.

to repeat a few hours later; August 22, 12am

“The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off”

This is an extraordinary documentary about a young man in England named Jonny Kennedy, who was born with EB; epidermolysis bullosa; a condition that literally makes the skin fall off at the slightest touch.

Quote: “In his last months, Jonny decided to work with a filmmaker to document his life and death. The result is a film that tells the uplifting, confounding and provocatively humorous story of an amazing man. Even at his very final moments, Jonny was still working desperately to raise awareness of this debilitating condition and to help find a cure. Jonny was also frank about his feelings on his upcoming death and practical about the arrangements. Not shying away from the grim reality of a terminal condition, this film is a celebration of a life lived to the very brim.”

Here’s a viewer comment: “I've never seen a program on TLC that was as moving as was the story of Jonny Kennedy. His story has stayed with me, and has really made me think about life in a new way. The courage Jonny showed was heroic, and it's beyond me how he kept going and stayed so positive in the face of such horrific, difficult circumstances. He was dealt a lousy hand in life, but he didn't become embittered. Instead, he focused on the positive and tried to make a difference. I am humbled, and don't think I will ever forget the lesson he taught me. God bless his soul — I hope I get to meet him one day.”
- Lisa

Really, Friends. This story is SUCH an UPPER, such an inspiration. You’ll laugh and cry. Jonny’s spirit and sense of humour will just knock your socks off. His Mum, Edna, is amazing (and she wrote back to me.) Don’t miss it! I give it 6 stars, on a scale of 1 to 5. Cannot recommend it highly enough. (and it won Best Documentary at the International Emmy Awards.)

Here’s more info:

www.debra.org.uk/help/jk.htm

tlc.discovery.com/fansite...lloff.html

www.debra.org/index.php
