Remember the satellite spotlight?

Postby FourthBase » Wed Nov 30, 2005 1:25 am

I remember around 2000 reading in a mainstream periodical (USA Today?) about a spotlight in orbit that could be shone onto Earth and would be like 10 times brighter than the moon, and cover some absurd distance. Whatever it was, it existed now, not in the future.

I'm serious, I read about it around 2000, and it existed now.

Was this the "mirror ball" satellite that was launched from the shuttle - I think as part of some high school expriment? Essentially just a small globe covered in mirror tiles or such. I remember watching it being launched, it was very bright but i think it was designed to eventually re-enter the atmosphere and burn up, gone now.

No, I don't think that was it, thank you for the help though.

Whatever it was, it was powerful.
Like, "Truman Show" powerful.

Like I said, it could shine a spotlight on earth that would be 10 times stronger or something than moonlight, and would cover miles and miles.

I wish I could remember any detail that would help a google search.
But damn, I can't.

Re: Nazi NASA Moon beams

I have been noticing strange shimmering reflections coming from the surface of the moon the past few cycles. I am convinced they have some sort of laser beams or reflective shields that are being used for various nefarious reasons. ...your post is FOUR words.

Here's the devilish plot: anyone who is caught in the light of this spotlight suddenly has an irresistible urge to wear a silver jumpsuit and lipsynch to "Last Dance" after which the entire universe blows up and we find out it was all a dream when Bobby comes out of the shower.

Bump. Had some questions reawaken, decided to see if I'd asked them before, and I had.
