gawd, I love the tango.

Assassin’s Tango | Mr. And Mrs. Smith, film

    composer | John Powell

More John Powell.

The Meltdown | Ice Age, film
    — Mini-Sloths Sing-A-Long

^^^ [I found these comments somewhere.] Lyrics, you ask? Yup, it’s from the musical Oliver. But it’s not the same. Like, instead of “great big steak,” they say “Mammoth steak.” And they say, “pouched possum sur flambe” and “broth made from a sloth” and also “saber tooth souffle.” It’s so funny!

    Butt Whoopin' | Robots, film

    Overture | Robots, film

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

Pick Up The Pieces '45 - '85

Neutral Milk Hotel - Holland, 1945

Image

The only girl I've ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns
All came and rained on everyone
Now she's a little boy in Spain
Playing pianos filled with flames
On empty rings around the sun
All sing to say my dream has come

But now we must pick up every piece
Of the life we used to love
Just to keep ourselves
At least enough to carry on

And now we ride the circus wheel
With your dark brother wrapped in white
Says it was good to be alive
But now he rides a comet's flame
And won't be coming back again
The Earth looks better from a star
That's right above from where you are
He didn't mean to make you cry
With sparks that ring and bullets fly
On empty rings around your heart
The world just screams and falls apart

But now we must pick up every piece
Of the life we used to love
Just to keep ourselves
At least enough to carry on

And here's where your mother sleeps
And here is the room where your brothers were born
Indentions in the sheets
Where their bodies once moved but don't move anymore
And it's so sad to see the world agree
That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies
All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes

Ramones - My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes To Bitburg)

Image

You've got to pick up the pieces
C'mon, sort your trash
You better pull yourself back together
Maybe you've got too much cash
Better call, call the law
When you gonna turn yourself in?
Yeah, you're a politician
Don't become one of Hitler's children

Bonzo goes to bitburg then goes out for a cup of tea
As I watched it on TV somehow it really bothered me
Drank in all the bars in town for an extended foreign policy
Pick up the pieces

My brain is hanging upside down
I need something to slow me down

Shouldn't wish you happiness, wish her the very best
Fifty thousand dollar dress
Shaking hands with your highness
See through you like cellophane
You watch the world complain, but you do it anyway
Who am I, am eye to say

Bonzo goes to bitburg then goes out for a cup of tea
As I watched it on TV somehow it really bothered me
Drank in all the bars in town for an extended foreign policy
Pick up the pieces

My brain is hanging upside down
I need something to slow me down

If there's one thing that makes me sick
It's when someone tries to hide behind politics
I wish their time would go by fast
Somehow they manage to make it last

My brain is hanging upside down
Eye need something to slow me down

jd, what a fun find*. Looked for a vid that might match that image, maybe a really generous Vivaldi irony not to be found. I instead yielded to the traditional Winter Concerto from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons mixed with van Gogh pieces. The largo movement spans markers 3.46 to 5.12 in this vid.

    — musicians not noted at vimeo

* noticed the tinkling bell. :basicsmile
