I Let the Music Speak | ABBA

    LYRICS.
I’m hearing images, I’m seeing songs
    No poet has ever painted
Voices call out to me, straight to my heart
So strange yet we’re so well acquainted
I let the music speak, with no restraints
I let my feelings take over
Carry my soul away into the world
Where beauty meets the darkness of the day

Where my mind is like an open window
Where the high and healing winds blow
From my shallow sleep the sounds awake me
    I let them take me
(Let them wake me, let them now, let them take me)

    Let it be a joke
    Let it be a smile
Let it be a farce if it makes me laugh for a little while
    Let it be a tear
    Let it be a sigh
Coming from a heart, speaking to a heart, let it be a cry

Some streets are emptiness, dry leaves of autumn
    Rustling down an old alley
And in the dead of night I find myself
A blind man in some ancient valley
I let the music speak, leading me gently
    Urging me like a lover
    Leading me all the way
    Into a place
Where beauty will defeat the darkest day

Where I’m one with every grand illusion
    No disturbance, no intrusion
Where I let the wistful sounds seduce me
    I let them use me
(All illusion, no disturbance, no intrusion)

    Let it be a joke
    Let it be a smile
Let it be a farce if it makes me laugh for a little while
    Let it be a tear
    Let it be a sigh
Coming from a heart, speaking to a heart, let it be a cry

    Let it be a tear
    Let it be a sigh
Coming from a heart, speaking to a heart, let it be a cry

Let it be the joy of each new sunrise
Or the moment when a day dies
    I surrender without reservation
    No explanations
    No questions why
I take it to me and let it flow through me
Yes, I let the music speak
    I let the music speak

I love that song.
Art will be the last bastion when all else fades away.

demo from soon-to-be-released album

Do we have the balls to go to that party?
Or would we rather dance with vanity?
Tell me now what's a real V.I.P?

Who are we to give that name to us?
When we don't know the lives of others.
When we can barely raise a finger.
to help our own sisters and brothers.

Wasn't it in history.
The artists always spoke their people's needs?
Now we're gorged upon what devils feed
In the shallow form of M.T.V

Telling the youth to worship futile dreams.
And long for bling and for material things.
I tell you what a really real V.I.P is..
A face that never was nor will be kissed.

To whom exactly are we giving hope?
When we stand behind the velvet rope.
Or get our pictures taken with the pope
Like some sick April Fool kind of joke.

Who's the really real, really real V.I.P?
The true and the most conquering king
Who looks around at everything?
And sees exactly what we've been.

His is the face that never was nor will be kissed.
Do we think we'll be down on his guest list?
When we're standing at the gate.
After being fashionably late.

There'll be no make-up and there'll be no film crew.
No Vuitton bags and no Manolo shoes.
When he's presiding over you.
Asking you did you love only you.

Or did you stand for something else.
Besides the hankering for fame and fame itself.
The one who always was and always is
Will show you what a real V.I.P is.

The fatherless.
The motherless.
The ravaged child at home who cried to you.
You will be asked to say what did you do.

What is behind his velvet curtain?
Don't know but I can say for certain
The face that never was nor will be kissed
Will tell you what a real V.I.P is.

Image Jeff, thank you for the O'Connor heads up! Her What is a REAL V.I.P.? is quite beautiful, and accompanied by that (unison octaves as) instrumental makes the song, I mean, lyrics stunning, stunning, I'd say. I'm so surprised because I'm considering buying that album now just for that one piece. Have I gone :jumping: all looney for O'Connor? Have I lost my noggin'? Well?

Anyway, I found this music video whilst wandering around the deeps of the board in the last three days or so. If you're a musician who reads sheet music or a score, you might enjoy watching the action, here.

Soul Meets Body | Death Cab for Cutie

    LYRICS.
I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new

Cause in my head there’s a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
Where they’re far more suited than here

And I cannot guess what we’ll discover
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another’s
And not one speck will remain

And I do believe it’s true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you’re the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

    Where soul meets body
    Where soul meets body
    Where soul meets body

And I do believe it’s true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you’re the only song I want to hear

A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere (4x)

I've been talking about the miracle that is Steve Perry's voice all day and have listened to this song like four times in a row. No human can sing like this man. One in 10 million at least voice. I have a good singing voice and there is nothing I can do to emulate his range. It sucks. All I want to do is sing this song myself.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi
